Update #77: Art in Alpha
Sarex replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Facepalm.... Are...are you for real? Women and men aren't equal in strength, they are similar until they hit puberty, then men gain muscle mass much more easily. For an example, man and women of equal height and weight have significant differences in strength. It goes even further then that, a women with more muscle and weight then a male counterpart will still be weaker, the difference in muscle weight would need to be significant for a women to be stronger, because she can't achieve the same muscle density/mass as the male counterpart. As for the parallels, I don't know what sources you were reading but I would drop them immediately. The facts are that most women couldn't finish the training exercises that were designed for combat. Another example, that you can't fudge, is that every sport across the world has a male and female league. I mean for ****s sake Serena Williams the number one tennis player in the women league lost to a man who was 200th on the list. Oh I know that there are strong women, that is why I said most. The thing is if we take those exceptions which we would consider the strongest women and put them up against the strong man the difference would still be great. Another problem is the amount of those strong women, they could never be anything but an exception to the rule, while strong man are a dime a dozen. The article you linked says there are 20 women. See my point? Also there is no indicator of how they preformed on the battlefield. Biology and evolution is on the side of man as far as strength is concerned, there is no denying that.- 338 replies

Update #77: Art in Alpha
Sarex replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Oh I'm sure that some women can wear it, but that is not my whole statement. I said that women can't carry plate swing a great sword and hope to do any damage. If you want a parallel to modern times, women still aren't allowed on the front lines. Why? Because they, on average, severely under preform as opposed to their male counterparts. I am not trolling you are just being unrealistic, women and man aren't equal.- 338 replies

The second part of the conversation made it seem like the synagogues were used for it though, that would make it seem like it was organized by multiple people.

Do we get to upgrade the torture room or customize it? I mean if there is only one style of torture it's bound to get repetitive very soon, that being said I believe that Obsidian will make torture the most fun it can be.

Common pitfalls of CRPG games to avoid
Sarex replied to TrashMan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't get why some people are so against Tolkien races. I mean what ever race the story or game has, it's ultimately just the flavor of the setting, the story won't be diminished by it, nor will the plot be. In the end it's not what you have, but how you use it. -

There you go Gromnir you were even wrong about the boob plate. While they changed the picture of Cadegund to have a less pronounced bulge, it still has it and it is still different from the male plate armor.- 338 replies

It certainly has slightly better specs compared to it's Asus counterpart, but the Asus software is superior and bios is really good from what I have seen.
-
That is really interesting, hope that gets explored more in game.

Sales Projections
Sarex replied to PillarsofEternity's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Licenses are worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them. The best example is the Homeworld license. There were some guys that wanted to buy it and they got 20k dollars, or something similar to that, from the community, what happened when it got to the action is that it ended up being sold for 1.35 million dollars to gearbox. -
It's like all their greatest song in one video, I'm saving this.
-
Point taken, didn't know it was that far off. As for Linux, I'm gonna have to try it at one point.

The biggest thing I'm worried about is directx 12 support, on the condition that what we heard about directx 12 is true. If it's just another gimmick like directx 10-11.1 then it's whatever, but if it really is what everyone is saying it's going to be, then maybe they will follow what they did till now and give full support only to their newest gen of graphics cards. Some news tell that 5xx to 8xx will support it, some say that 5xx-7xx will have software support while only the 8xx will have hardware support. Overall I do agree with you, the waiting game is a fool mans errand.

Yeah, you are probably right.

Not going to wait for Maxwell?

Did you try some googlefu? Maybe someone else has the issue. Btw, are you playing on a laptop, or do you have a haswell cpu?
-
Go in to the ini file and set the setting manually.
-
I played all 3 on the pc too, but to be honest I don't remember if I had the issue. I must not have bothered me that much, or it wasn't as sever as in the video.

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Kitting is never 100% effective. Or you have no idea what kitting is. Let me further elaborate, to kite you need to hit back while running away, where as the melee only needs to move to you. So the fact that you are hitting back makes you stop for the duration of animation, which makes you slower which in turn means that eventually the melee will catch up.

Hehehe, you must not have read many of my post if you make that claim. As for scale, wanna make a bet that it will be noticeable without using zoom. You obviously don't have any valid reason for being against boob scale and are just spouting random things.- 338 replies

The mass effect video is from a console version, consoles always had problems with texture popping, especially the backgrounds.
