  1. From the patch notes: This only works for the Watcher, companions are still bald when wearing hats.
  2. Only works for the Watcher, companions are still bald headed when wearing hats.
  3. No. First, their VO is different. Second, Modwyr was made a long time ago by some master animancer who specifically put somebody's soul in a sword. Ydwin experimented on herself for different reasons and her soul uncoupling from her body was a coincidental side effect, her soul is lost.
  4. I've mentioned this in the collective summary of relationship bugs over here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/99004-collective-summary-of-all-the-glaring-bugs-in-the-relationship-system/ Devs have seen it at least, so hopefully it will be fixed.
  5. Anybody knows anything about the other gods punishments?
  6. Well, whatever you call it - goofiness/stupid/carefree/careless/flippant, etc. These traits somehow mostly ended up in male companions. Hence op's original question about Aloth liking female companions more - that's because most of the serious/dutiful/"masculine" traits were relegated to them. Hence my opinion that companions writing is rather skewed one way.
  7. Not dutiful perhaps, but definitely more serious than most male companions. I don't see these two goofing around much either.
  8. I can't say anything definitive about sidekicks, as they don't have enough dialogue to judge, and they're not included in the relationship system. But if I were to guess I'd say Ydwin is close in character to Aloth, being a serious academic focused on her research. Fassina is an academic too, but unfocused for the moment and spiteful at everybody, cuz she just left her most hated master. Mirke is a comic relief, unfortunately the only one in the game, and not a companion. So even with those, the level of goofiness of male companions is still higher.
  9. She's dutiful to her country, just like Maia to hers and Xoti to her god. They may be dutiful to a fault, but still, generally that is viewed as a good trait, especially for soldiers. I'm not sure we are supposed to see it as an exclusively good trait in Eora I was thinking about the real world considerations of good traits, not Eora. I don't think Eorans even know what a feminist is, lol, they just live with it - women in command everywhere for gods know how long.
  10. Yea, officially VTC is against slavers, Castol can get a lot of flak for that when accused at the trial.
  11. She's dutiful to her country, just like Maia to hers and Xoti to her god. They may be dutiful to a fault, but still, generally that is viewed as a good trait, especially for soldiers.
  12. That depends with where you stand with RDC/Rauatai and religion.
  13. Yea, I'd rather companions had predetermined/fixed opinions about other companions and dialogues. Like it was in BG2, for example. Never liked approval systems, they encourage playing as a psychotic "yes-man" with no backbone if you want to have good relationships with everybody.
  14. I meant only that companions writing is scewed - female companions are strong, serious and dutiful (reliable), while most male companions are all sorts of goofs (unreliable). With former generally being viewed as a good trait (especially in males), while the latter generally not, it may look like writers have something against males and wrote them with negative traits on purpose. But it's just an observation, perhaps it's just a coincidence.
  15. Yea, I figured the same. I think him staying with the Watcher or continuing his Leaden Key work is equally valid, because he still seemed lost after POE1 and that Leaden Key business just looked like a way for him to find his place in the world, to make a difference. So why not find his place with the Watcher and make a difference together?
  16. That woman is really unhealthy for the guy, I'm glad I helped him get rid of her. Her stay was long overdue. Now he can be a true master of himself and his decisions, and nobody can mess with him anymore.
  17. Tekehu's like that with everybody. But it's his empty boasting and narcissism Aloth hates, not friendliness.
  18. I think you're reading too much into it. He doesn't like a certain type of character, not gender. It seems that female companions are more serious and dutiful, which he likes, while male companions are big goofs all around, which he doesn't like. If you play as a serious dutiful male Watcher he'll like you too. It may be considered a writing flaw, or some pro-feminist agenda as to why companions are written like that, but it has nothing to do with Aloth. As to why he likes serious and dutiful people, it's easy - he'd like to be considered as such himself. And certainly it didn't come from nowhere but was shaped by the events in his life. As to what gender he leans more to for romantic relationship - I don't think he has a preference, because by the looks of it he's an effin virgin who doesn't even think about it that much, being preoccupied with academic studies and messed up by Iselmyr for so long. He kinda reminds me of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.
  19. How many backers copies there were, I wonder? Do they add up to total number of copies sold? It's really hard to tell whether this game is selling well, because it's a niche product and nobody knows what is Obsidian's estimated quota. Also, looking only at Steam stats is wrong, what about GOG and physical copies? But for the sake of example, DOS2 sold more than a million copies in two months time, but, iirc, Larian were saying that their estimated numbers to break even were much lower. I don't think Pillars franchise is that popular yet to sell that well. Also, Larian did a better job at marketing their game. Obsidian needs to be more professional in this, instead of goofing around all over the place, POE2's release just quietly went under the radar for many people. It also never helps sales to release a game riddled with bugs - they become common knowledge within days nowadays and people spread the bad word around. I don't think it will get any better if they leave it on slow burner, right now I can only see them raising sales numbers by selling both games in a bundle and through discounts.
  20. I think choosing the most meta culture and background just for some minor reactivity checks is stupid. Personally, I chose my main's culture and background that fitted the portrait and backstory that I headcanoned for it back in POE1. I'm not gonna change it just because in the sequel another has more checks. Besides, I don't like playing a native in games - usually it ends in some awkward exposition conversations because my character is supposed to know all the native things while me as a player doesn't. Better to play a clueless foreigner, I say, works more natural that way.
  21. Most likely there is some adra machinery in Rauatai that is connected to Ukaizo machinery. Question is what was it for? If it was to hide something there too then it's broken, because storms there are not as deadly as near Ukaizo. If it's not broken then perhaps it's a branch of the Wheel system, gathering souls in that part of the world, and transferring them to Ukaizo machinery. Or it could be a retribution from the gods on those aumaua who left Deadfire after the cataclysm, not sure why they'd be mad at them though.
  22. I don't know what causes it but companions sometimes get a non-removable Slog Zone debuff while in non-slog zone area. It can only be removed by walking them through some slog zone again. Here's a save file with Konstanten having this bug: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1afJ1_4eFGZw6cCDxnV7u0qFlrOKwSIf4 I haven't even used Konstanten in my party before that, but when I swapped him into the party he had this debuff. Maybe he got it in one of the ship combat battles?
  23. It's been confirmed, so hopefully it will be fixed: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97738-invisibility-pestilance-cloud-bugged/?hl=invisibility Right now dot dealing abilities and weapons seem very unattractive for stealth oriented rogue.
  24. NIce! Those things were much wanted by lots of people.
