I'll give you the issues with TW (not that I play it). I stand by what I said about AP's alt tab issues being due to its console roots though. Lack of any real eyecandy, designed for a game pad, built for an environment where you don't multi-task (ticking a lot of boxes).

What needs to be added to AP2

Less beating with an ugly stick on the graphics front would be nice... -
Is your graphics card overclocked at all? Are you using recent(ish) drivers?
-
Are the effects definitely not taking, or are they just not showing in the menu? I trashed my ni file last time and had to start over (long story short - trying to get my head round the AA/AF issues). Some of the changes definitely work without changing res (eg motion blur).
-
To be honest I only expect alt tab problems with old games these days. Sadly it's yet another thing pointing at terribly optimised console port.

Is the sniper supposed to be impossible to aim?

Mediocre PC port? If only... -
Game crashes with an APPCRASH error message with Nvidia Forceware 257.15 installed Uninstall the Nvidia display and Physx drivers in the Windows control panel. Reboot an install Forceware 197.75 (available from nvidia.com). The crash appears to be related to the version of Physx in the latest beta drivers, as AP is playable if you uninstall Physx and reinstall an older version (although this breaks the Nvidia control panel).
-
Looks like you can't customise appearance either with AA forced I wouldn't mind if the jaggies weren't so screamingly obvious!
-
Please ignore - you lose all of the dialog/appearance options regardless of which antialising settings you force.
-
If you've got an Nvidia card, Physx is automatically installed with your graphics driver. The version of Physx bundled with the 257.15 drivers is not compatible with Alpha Protocol. If you're using an older driver, it should be fine. BTW, please ignore my instructions for removing Physx - you'll have to install an older graphics driver, or the Nvidia control panel won't work properly.
-
The culprit is definitely physx. The driver bundled with FW 257.15 doesn't work (9.10.0222). I've not tried the current standalone version (9.10.0129 - released 25 March 2010). The version on the CD is pretty old - 9.09.0814 (August 2009!), so you may have problems with newer games if you install it (keep it in the back of your mind if other games are suddenly unplayable). To uninstall physx: Control Panel>uninstall a program>Nvidia Physx Install Physx from the CD (cd drive>support>physx) Only uninstall Physx - don't uninstall Nvidia drivers (they're your graphics card drivers).

Game is completely unplayable in Windows 7 x64. I've successfully activated it, but I'm getting 2 errors I've tried running as administrator, disabling my AV and XP SP3 compatibility mode. I've also installed all of the latest C++ redistributables (2005 sp1, 2008 sp1 and 2010).

So... PC and XBox Tech Help is now ONE Forum?

Hey, I'm happier that they're back with Bioware. At least it lends them a bit of credibility. -
It could be a number of things. Do the standard things like check you have the lastest sound and video drivers installed. If that doesn't work, reload an earlier save and play up to the same point, it might just have missed a trigger. Other than that, try disabling sound and movies temproarily sand see if that will get you past that point.

For everyone running the game on a widescreen monitor, it's possible to foce it to run at widescreen resolutions. To do it, open swkotor2.ini and edit the width and height entries under graphics options (eg for 1280x768 width=1280 height=768). Enjoy!

Lil Sassy covered all the bases there. Update your graphics and sound drivers to the latest versions. Disable movies, force software sound and use low quality textures at a low res then try it again. In fact you may want to disable sound entirely. Most loading issues I've seen (bar people trying to run it on unsupported hardware) are down to onboard soundcards. You really should consider upgrading your operating system. XP really is a dramatic improvement over 98. It's infinitely more stable and far better supported. It's possible that you may have a copy protection problem. Do you have nay software running a virtual cd drive? If so, disable it and/or explore alternative measures (providing that you have bought a legitimate copy of the game).

It really is bad for Obsidian if it's a case of them having given a working patch to LucasArts, who then decide to sit on it. The fans know LA's reputation (which is getting steadily worse). Sadly Obsidian will be judged more by this game than LA as it's Obsidian's first release. I for one am hardly overwhelmed by their support or post release interaction with the community. They could really take a lesson from Bioware here - I don't think I

That's a no can do sadly. Start from scratch a make sure that you make regular independent saves.
-
I'm not sure if they're shown by default or not. Grab a copy of NVTweak and select the "enable all" option. That should give you access to the hidden features.

to all people dameged by intel graphics cards
adrich81 replied to creanec's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well that's hopeful. If Intel couldn't fix it they'd just have listed it as incompatible, so you may get it working yet... Don't hold your breath though, Intel's driver support can be a bit hit and miss. -
I take it you uninstalled the game before you reinstalled it? Reinstalling the game over itself is not a good idea. If you did, have you kept your original savegames? If you reset while it was trying to save then that file will be corrupt, but one of your other saves should be ok (again, I'm assuming you have more than a quicksave and an autosave). I suggest a full uninstall, reinstall, defrag your hard drive then try an earlier save. Can you post your pc's specs and driver versions?

Error Reports to Microsoft
adrich81 replied to Flunked Out of Sith Academy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What will Microsoft do with these error reports? The bug is with the game, not Windows. (Unless Obsidsian and LucasArts are waiting for Microsoft to patch the game for them " ) -
Load an earlier save (not just your last quicksave).

KOTOR2 work with catalyst 5.4 now?
adrich81 replied to Darth Makaan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't get why it's taking them so long to fix the Dantooine bug. Only 1 Nvidia beta driver had that problem, and it was fixed in the next release anyway. -
On Talos, Ithorian compound, missing party
adrich81 replied to Lil Sassy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yep, you need to add your party back in again... There's a couple of other points in the game where you need to do this, always check whether you can add party members if anything similar happens in future.
