  1. How is he lying? I get 35-45 fps @1280x960 with 4xAA and 16xAF with softshadows and framebuffer effects on. If he's lying about 15-20 fps being playable, remember this is a crpg, not a fisrt person shooter, so that kind of frame rate is more than enough!
  2. The best way to check is to set your desktop to the desired resolution and have a look under your monitor refresh rates. that will show you exaclty what's supported. It's always best to check. I forced an incorrect rate and killed a crt monitor a few years back.
  3. Not really - rude is posting on the dev forums asking for an illegal fix for a pirated game. (I can't imagine any scenario where an Italian game would be released in Brazil).
  4. Yep - almost every onboard soundcard (haven't heard probelms with soundstorms actually).
  5. Don't expect miracles. I tried to get KOTOR running on an intel 845g once and the results weren't pretty. Pretty much exactly the same situation. It's possible that intel will release a driver update that makes the card compatible, but even if they do expect performance to be near unplayable. (I'm not really sure Obsidian will ever correct the issue - remember that it's unsupported hardware).
  6. I'm sorry we really can't help you with that. Take the game back to the store you bought it from and change it for the correct language version.
  7. It depends what graphics card you are running. Nvidia cards have an option which lets you override the refresh rate. Similarly programs like power strip will let you do that as well. Which ever route you go down, make damn sure that the refresh rate you force is supported by your monitor at that resolution, as it stays forced when you set it. (If you set something that the res can't support, particularly your desktop res, it can screw your system up big time). Also remember that you may need to override the refresh rate for each resolution (the movies are 640x480, regardless of what resolution you play at). Under dxdiag, there's an option under more help to override the direct draw refresh rate (this will help in the game but maybe not in movies.)
  8. Sadly, a whole lot of the posts about not being able to run the game come from people with underpowered obsolete systems. At least performance on the pc version is scalable though.
  9. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the 5500 is a rip off. (I used to have one and all it is is a 5200 with a marginal overclock - if you're feeling devious, try to find out if either card has 64bit (not meg) memory, and grab which ever is 128bit). The mx440 may have more memory, but architecturally it's actually the same chip only with with slower memory. The latest drivers really aren't intended for a card as old as the mx440 (although they nominally support it) so you would probably have had more luck with an older driver version.
  10. OK, can you post back with your rig's specs (hardware and driver versions)? Also can you say what brand mouse you're using as well. The game seems to have periodical issues with wireless mice.
  11. It really does get annoying. Devs effectively have to deal with 2 brands of card, both of which use UDA. Is it really too much to ask that they release an end product that runs well on both brands?
  12. No there's nothing you can do to get pci cards running in tandem. I assume you don't have agp on that motherboard, or I'd have said flog both of them and get an agp card
  13. The mx440 is arguably a downgrade from a geforce 2. Did you do a full uninstall of your drivers before you installed the new card?
  14. Yeah, that happens. Reboot and play from an earlier save. (Failing that, run your mouse using the default Windows drivers.)
  15. Can't say I've had any probelms with performance myself. You have to remember that this game responds differently to different systems, and it's particularly fussy about hardware. As for CRPGs on a FPS engine - Vampire: Bloodlines anyone? (Ok it's buggy as hell, but the theory still holds.)
  16. Go for a 6600gt. That's hands down the best card for the money (it blows the standard 6600 away) I recommend this one
  17. The problem isn't the nvidia drivers, I can assure you of that. The only problem drivers are 75.90, which stutter on Dantooine. Which graphics driver are you using? Do you have the latest sound driver installed? The majority of problems I've seen are related to soundcards.
  18. Sadly there's not much else you can do. Play around with other driver versions and disable movies and sound, but that's it. Remember that the card really isn't intended for gaming, and it isn't supported anyway. I think if the patch improves support for anything it will be for ATI cards and onboard sound cards.
  19. You cna get it here. To use it, download and install the program, but don't run it. Next, download the driver you want to install (in your case I suggest going to the Nvidia drivers page and clicking the beta link to get the 71.84). Step by step: 1. Uninstall your current driver. 2. Reboot into safemode. (Press F8 just after your machine finishes detecting the hard drives etc and you'll get a menu - timing is important there). 3. Cancel the option to have windows install a driver for you. 4. Open driver cleaner and run cab cleaner from the tools menu. 5. From the main driver cleaner screen, then select the Nvidia option and hit clean. 6. Reboot. 7. Cancel the message about installing a driver again, and run the installation file for the driver you've just downloaded.
  20. That actually supports ps2.0 fully? The cheapest I'd go for is the Radeon 9550 (preferably go for a 9600 though). Cards like the fx5200 technically support ps2 but aren't powerful enough to use it (ie if you play a ps2 game it will be more or less unplayable). How much can you afford to spend?
  21. Dude if your pcs's that screwed why don't you just reformat it?
  22. Getting the movies remasters is unlikely. Personally I find them so annoying I skip them anyway.
  23. No - the frame rate dropping is the result of a problem (the frame rate itself can't cause a problem, it just indicates how the game is performing). Seeing as all your hardware is more than capable of running the game, unless you have a defective component , it's a driver issue. Get a copy of driver cleaner pro and the latest drivers update your system. (The majority of bugs with this game result from onboard sound, unsupported graphics cards and ATI cards.)
  24. This is strange - I don't see anything in there that I would class as problem hardware. Turning off eax on the sound might help. How computer savvy are you? I'd suggest updating to the latest driver for you soundcard and the latest Nvidia beta driver for your graphics. (If you don't know how, post back and I'll talk you through it).
