  1. It's not supported on that card - it needs pixel shader 2.0.
  2. The big advantage is that it will look and sound better + it can actually be patchedl. Personally, I didn't find it as bad as people are making out - certainly I'll replay it. Of course, once people start moding it that'll make a difference as well.
  3. @zaqxsw Try updating to latest version of the driver on the Intel site. If that doesn;t work, try going through the earlier versions. People have got it working in the past, so it may just need a particular driver. Failing that, the patch may help. Either way, don't expect to play it on high settings or with anything resembling decent perfromance
  4. Have you changed anything in your hardware setup since your last play through? Updated any drivers? It sounds like the sound bug - you could try forcing software acceleration, or even disabling sound entirely. That would give us a starting point. Can you post back with your system specs?
  5. As I said earlier, it is possible to run the card on that chip (people have done it), it just depends on the driver version. The fact is that you don't need to spend $500 on a card (
  6. Your computer is actually quite reasonable (minus the onboard graphics), and would support anything up to a geforce 6600gt without a problem. $50 is a a very tight budget, and I can honestly say that I can't recommend a decent card for that price. If that's your limit though, you're looking at either the GeFroce FX5200 or the ATI Radeon 9250 (avoid the mx4000 and the 9200se). With either card though, make sure that you giet the 128bit version (don't confuse this with 128 megs of memory) as that will give you better perfromance. I'm not sure how familiar you are with your pc, but you might want to actually check that your motherboard has an agp slot, or you'll have to get a pci graphics card. Have a look round and post some links (assuming the forum doesn;t get closed down) and we'll take a look at the cards for you. I must say that if you can find some extra money you would get much better value from a 9600 or a 5700.
  7. People, this isn't the best way to persuade them to keep the forums open. The fact is that there is a lot of cumulative expertise here that comes from sharing solutions we've to problems, which would be lost if the forum closed. I know that I for one won't post over at the LucasArts forums as I object to providing unpaid technical support for them.
  8. Load an earlier savegame and take it from there.
  9. Wow how did that graphics card get in there? Take it it was left over from an older system... Anyway onto a useful suggestion - If you're on a tight budget I'd recommend a GeForce 6200 - make sure it's the agp version, not the pci-e version, don't get the one with turbo-cache and look for the 128 bit version (different to 128 meg). That card is excellent value for money, and the cheapest priced card that has any real mileage in it. I would seriously recommend either the 6600 or the 6600gt if your budget will stretch to them; your machine shouldn't bottleneck them.
  10. I suppose you could give disabling the music a shot (not sure if that's an option). I get the impression that the only cards they tested on were Creative cards. Unless they address the issue in the patch, there's nothing else I can think of...
  11. Any chance we can get the stickied? It would be nice if people remembered that the whole point of this forum is so we can actually help each other solve prolbems... (And the search function isn't just there to fill up a gap on the screen )
  12. Actually, I've noticed the same problem on a Geforce 6800 using the 75.90 drivers.
  13. Update your sound and graphics drivers (they're usually the main culprits). Remember to uninstall the old drivers first and not let windows install the driver for you. It's unlikely to be the graphics card, but update them anyway. If you have the latest soundcard drivers try an older set. Other than that you could try playing up to the same point with an old savegame, or reinstalling hte game.
  14. It's called a contract. Obsidian aren't allowed to post anything like that because it's not their product. Sith Lords belongs to LucasArts, and they will have full control over what gets done when, including announcements. For similar reasons, the devs seem to be restricted from posting here (LA seem to think that they know more about troubleshooting a game than the people who made it for them )
  15. Well, I've emailed them, for what it's worth... Given the KOTOR 1 and 2 both use the same engine, is there any way, as a temporary fix, to extract the original soundtrack, and rename the files for use with Sith Lords? I'd imagine that it should be possible, but has anyone tried it? If it is possible, can someone let me know as I've got a few days off next week and will try to give it a shot. Cheers! - We can get this sorted
  16. I'd go with the 6800 personally. It supports newer standards like sm3, which you won't get on the X800.
  17. Actually I invariably find I get better customer service online. (That says a lot about the standard of customer service you get on the highstreet in the UK).
  18. 6600s have developed a number of problems. You might have a bad card, heat problems are particularly common. What brand is it?
  19. Physically it may be possible to run the game on that graphics chip - there have been reports from other people who've got it working. Drivers seem to effect onboard graphics cards a lot, so try older versions of the same driver. It won't be a qucik process, but it may help, Intel's drivers can be very dodgy with games. Longterm if you play more than very occasionally you really should upgrade to a full graphics card (unless you have a laptop). It will make a massive difference. What kind of spec is the rest of your machine?
  20. But don't just rely on quick saves. Do a full save every so often and keep them separate just in case you need to go back to an older save.
  21. tryto get hold of the latest drivers for your soundcard. If you have the latest version, try installing older versions of fthe driver (just google for 'em)
  22. Um, you say you just got opengl - how exactly did you go about getting it? It is installed with your graphics drivers. What graphics card do you have, and what driver version are you running on it?
  23. The best thing I can do with the sound is running it through CMSS2 in the Creative options, but that's not perfect.
  24. No it literally just changes the manual. (There is a search feature btw).
  25. Bioware wins hands down for me - they've been behind pretty much all the best games I've played!
