Different reasons for different people. Some political, some economical. Most of our immigrants fall into one of those two categories.

I mean, we tend to view others through the lens of our existences and we apply our arbitrary standards. Maybe the general Cuban population is happy with their lives? I never hear of any rabble rousing down there. No "cracking down" by the government or stuff like that. They are never going to be a world player, or a powerhouse economy. Maybe things are fine as far as they are concerned?

What economy do they have? The population is smaller than that of the state 90 miles North. Maybe their society was good for Cubans?

Hasnt Raul been running the show for a few years now anyway? Now all thats left to do is build a statue of Fidel, pointing out to the sea or something, and call it a day.

I stuffed myself like a pig. Turkey, mashed potatos and gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole....but I had to save room for the sweet sweet apple and pumpkin pies with cool wHip.

Ive never heard of a feijoa but the interwebs tell me; "The thick, white, granular, watery flesh and the translucent central pulp enclosing the seeds are sweet or subacid, suggesting a combination of pineapple and guava or pineapple and strawberry, often with overtones of winter green or spearmint." Sounds delicious! Can pretty much any fruit be fermented?

Ive got a nice four day stretch off work. Were going to my mother-in-law's house for turkey day some Im looking forward to some delicious eats. This woman, somehow, someway, has managed to create the only sweet potato pie on the planet that I like but then my wife informed me that its no longer on the menu because "mom" has diabetes. Probably slip in a day or two of garage drinking with my neighbor too.

Finished up season 1 of Luke Cage. Its interesting to me that, imo, the slower pace of the show is both a strength and a weakness. Strength in that its not constand beat-em-up which is a refreshing change but weakness in that sometimes I get bored. Looking forward to season 2.

Ive got vacation days to burn before the end of the year so today I decided to be a productive citizen and renew my drivers license. Man, I cant take a decent picture when I pose. She says "look at this blue dot until you see the flash", so Im staring at this thing for a solid 10 seconds, and in the nanosecond I decide to blink, *flash* goes the light. Sigh. I look like Sneerly McSneersalot.

We started watching Shameless, and I'm only 3 episodes in, but so far its very good.
