  1. Loopholes are what I am talking about here, I am even for flat % rate when it comes to it.
  2. “I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.” ― Winston S. Churchill You probably understand me incorrectly. I am not saying you need to have more/bigger taxes. But any functional state have to have taxes. Its about from who you are taking money and how well you spend them. In short, if big players would pay taxes as they should, they would not have to be that big/affecting that much low income payers
  3. Way you keep economy growing is to make rich people spend money. Cut out tax heavens, force corporations to pay taxes where they earn revenue and prioritise lower taxes for these companies which invest into small business or welfare of own employes
  4. Me too, but as Paradox has said - compared to their other titles, it's a bit 'bareboned' at the moment. Which means it's got flavor coming out the wazoo of course, but if you're used to Crusader Kings 2 etc it can fell quite a bit shallow after the midgame. I'm just sitting around in game waiting for stuff to research. Took up an entire arm of a 4 arm galaxy, joined a Federation, liberated planets from a rival federation, and ran out of room. Oh, and enlightened three different races. Now the only thing that keeps me busy is trying to pick a planet to terraform just to see what it's like. I am in similliar position, but I got some invasion event (looks like Tyranids) and waiting to get borders with them to start raining death on them
  5. I think you're conflating "equal outcome" and "maybe don't have so much of a gap between the haves and the have-nots that it literally kills people". I agree. And there are two ways to do that. Expand the economy so there is work and opportunity for all (a rising tide lifts all boats) or tax the living s--t out of everything in sight and use the money for "social welfare". The former solution creates equality by allowing the lower class to become middle class. Yeah, we've seen how well the "give money to the rich so they can create jobs for the poor" tactic worked so far. Spoiler: it didn't. What do you mean it didnt work? On other hand I can assure you that other way around didn't worked for sure, 50 years of communism proves that pretty well
  6. Kind of tired of not knowing release date yet, or did I missed it?
  7. Something new?
  8. If you want pretty graphics, don't play on console
  9. Irony have to be politically correct, same as black humor
  10. That dual wielding was lame as F. Cmon HBO, don't ruin it
  11. finally got some time to play Stellaris. Created few races to be included in my game - Imperium of man - divine xenophobic mandate of heavens guys and few other funny ones. Playing myself as slow breeding intelligent long living militaristic collectivistic spiritualistic transcended oligarchy. I love it. No wars so far but its going to happen all around is xenophobic isolationist
  12. Check out the mod After the End... Ironically in CK2, less fair now than a few patches ago- they've introduced something called a 'threat mechanic' to curtail massive player expansion, so now the AI will try to forge alliances to counter you if you're too much of a threat. Sounds good on paper, but it gets a little stupid when the Papacy allies themselves with muslim kings to counter a christian duke. As for Stellaris and EU, less so - but there are some articial mechanics similar to this, not near as stupid as that though or what you know from CIV and the Total War games. For anyone wanting to play Crusader Kings 2, but don't know where to start- I can strongly recommend rolling back to the 2.45 patch (via beta in steam) and just play as a duke under an emperor, you learn all you need to in a safe enough enviroment, while not being threatned by the big boys. I know about this mod, also interesting one could be Game of Thrones one, but I dont have all DLCs and I am not sure they would work with my version and I am too lazy to fiddle with it
  13. Not sure where you are from but if you are from OUTSIDE of Europe you will probably enjoy CK2 more, i have always problem that I tend to drift toward my home country
  14. gogo SpaceX, its time that universe tastes human power!
  15. Well, hope you will not be dissapointed, Total war is not your common RTS, it have some grand strategy elements
  16. http://stellariscountdown.com/ time is for continental Europe hoped that i could start downloading before I get to work, now i will have to DL whole afternoon PS: that new Battlefield looks kick ass, but I feel it will be far from BF1/BF2 which i loved. Well, there is still ARMA
  17. not that I dont agree with you but dont you think that maybe if there would not be problem with immigrants and muslims in first place we would not see this behaviour from Odin guys? I would be first one to call them racist smucks. They dont 'pop up' from thin air without a reason
  18. So...we do realize that game developers aren't exactly buying into the whole political correctness movement, right? The Witcher 3 didn't exactly sacrifice all the boob action from the first game, and it sold extremely well. You still get to kill all sorts of different types of people in shooters, etc. Well, something like this can only be pushed in dialog heavy games pretty much, so we will not see this in shooters (probably). about Witcher - 2 points 1) first one was trashed for sexual content so next 2 toned it down heavily (not like in books) 2) devs are from east Europe, we here don't bait into that SJW concept here much, its just catering to US marked where it exploded lately
  19. Uh...what? Does your distaste for seeing depictions of romance only apply to gay romances, or does it apply to all romances? Cause I don't remember this level of outrage over the gross sex cards in everyone's favourite game, The Witcher 3. I mean, the game literally reduces women to collectible cards where the women pose in absurd sexually provocative poses. Is there some reason I'm missing why those are normal and fine, but a little gay sex scene is so unbearably obscene that anyone who thinks it's a good idea must have "mental issues"? If so, I hope you have a better reason than "the continued existence of gay people makes me feel uncomfortable"...but then again, that's all I've seen from you so far. Yes you know what he meant KP...lets not get pedantic The card collection process in W1 was strange...incongruous. And as I mentioned previously its important that games offer gay and straight options for things like Romance...inclusivity is the future for many games Than its good that I lived in era where fun was main pillar of games. I should stop play anyway, getting old for it I think (but I played dwarf fortress yesterday till 3am at morning )
  20. There's a subtle difference between "not tolerated" and "disincentivized". "Not tolerated" makes it sound like I want to ban people for the things I believe the rules should discourage. It's like... calling the other guy a liar in a debate is sure as hell not going to help the discussion proceed in a constructive manner (it's actually pretty much granted to blow up at that point), but "interpreting others' posts in bad faith and using needlessly inflammatory language are not tolerated" makes it sound like you'd throw someone out basically for getting frustrated. "Active moderation is bad moderation" is a stupid meme. In my experience, the more active the moderation, the better the signal-to-noise ratio of a forum. Now, you can argue that signal-to-noise ratio isn't the most important metric by which to measure the quality of a forum, but... the validity of that statement really varies on a case-by-case basis. Liar!
  21. I wonder how many others have him on ignore. I would wager he wins the 'most ignored award' on Obsidian forums (at least in recent times). Maybe mods can uncover this information to us? would be interesting
  22. Volourn actually doesn't bother me that much, because he's more just the inflammatory type. I'm still not a big fan of people just being able to call each other Nazis at the drop of a hat...but these are the ObSSidian forums, so I guess it's the poison you choose to drink... Poison or antidote of truth? YOU DECIDE! xD
  23. Not sure about 'Friends' but can get along with almost anyone as well, but RL is place where you can easily avoid conversation on subjects you heavily oppose, not that easy on forum
  24. First part more or less right, second part wrong: don't give much of a hoot if people don't reply to me. If you actually read what I've written in most "serious discussion" threads over the past couple of years (I don't expect you to, hence why I'll just give you a summary), it's almost always been to refute some nonsense of Bruce's. I'm really generally more of a lurker on serious discussion threads than anything else... Perhaps a just tad ironically (actually very ironically, I'm sure), he's the one that's generally making me want to post in those kinds of threads - just for all the wrong reasons, it feels to me. Well, its a life. Best life lesson my father gave me: 'You will have do deal with stupid people everywhere you go, because world is full of them, so better get you use to it fast' (no offense to Bruce)
