  1. PE definetely needs fat peoiple. How else we will slow down slow-moving elf zombies?
  2. There's a way to avoid some tricky parts bout it. 1. Vocal warning. When your companions may shout "Interrupt the chanelling!", "Stop that Wizard!", "Sniper's aiming!", "Watch for backstabs!" or something similar so player can take action to prevent the casting or, as with PE setting, assassin's approach or handguns criticals. 2. Visual warning. Make instant death spells be visible so player can see them being cast among the raging battle and take countermeasures. 4. Sudden instand Death I don't see much problem if instant death threaten charaters in expected situations, but when you walk across the plaza and sudenly enemies pop up and start casting insta-killers, then you are almost assured to reload. I doubt that protection spells will last for hours and players could not maintain protection all the time, so you have to be prepared for dangerous enemies. 3. Cast time. In BG2 some enemies have 0 or so cast time. So The fact that they can cast insta-kills is not a problem in itself, rather the fact that they can cast it instantly, without chanelling or preparation. We all remember demi-lich and his Imprisonment machine gun. So most of the time you started casting countermeasures and protection at the time when "death-projectile" already flying towards you. Overall i think that instant death, should it be implemented, must go hand-to-hand with countermeasures. Break caster's concentration, sniper's aim and so on.
  3. In Baldur's Gate 2 we faced spells like Desintegrate and, more often, Imprisonment. In other words, instant death. There were very few ways to protect your character against it. So, will we have similar ways to die instantly in Project Eternity, when failing a save roll will result in instant death of the character?
  4. Quality may work. Studded leather armor from drunkard village armorer won't be the same as masterwork Studded Leather from famous armorsmith from the capital. Also, material differences could work as well. Dragonscale leather and deer leather for example.
  5. Ah, yes, "Choices That Matter" create topic like this on BSN and you'll get 10 or so pages in a first several hours and half of the posts will be mockery about it. I likes how in Alpha Protocol adressed choices and consequences but for fully fledged RPG I would like for Obsidian to drive it even further.
  6. Dragon Age 2 - with scaling system no matter what build you use, every battle will always be the same.
  7. I suppose characters will have some kind of AD&D-like attributes. But - are they going to be fixed and increased only via some special way, like using an artifact or completing some major quest. Or PE will follow Diablo, Arcanum, Dragon Age and, to some point, NWN way, when you get certain amount of attribute points per lever and can distribute them and build your character in that way? I have fears because with latter approach you have several builds, but mostly have one or two builds, well, fighters rarely put points into magic and wizards into str. So it all mostly turn into autoleveling. Like rogues most assured to get most points into dexterity or similar skill.
  8. No. Horrible abuses could be possible with this one. This is not MMORPG or Dragon Age 2 Also, I never heared about people who turn away from the game just because they leveled up wrong. And it doesn't seem like other RPGs have problem with it as well.
  9. Seems like there are some kind of demons and infernal power after all. From PE wiki:
  10. In Arcanum, we could participate in a long conspiracy quest with all the best cliches, rich but vulnearable bankers, breeding their own half-ogre bodyguards on a hidden island laboratory, disappearing people, lying journalists and so on. Could we please have it again. Tinfoil hats was not popular back then, but surely PE world could have its share of paranoia and people, using "magical mind-reading protector"...from some local metal foil of course. But major quest like we had in Arcanum could would be best. Sadly, players could not solve that quest completely, as all clues you get back from the island disappear along with the journalist and all you got is strange explanation from gnome banker agent later on. I think this time Obsidian could create a truly complete quest. Becaue, you know...
  11. Well, with BioWare RPGs tend to gravitate further and further from actual role-playing towards action, there is a niche that became free. Almost assured that PE will not be able to compete with upcming DA3 in terms of graphics and animation, but good RPGs always lacked grapic aspect because too much effort were diverted to actual gameplay.
  12. Atheists in fantasy world may fit into a group of tinfoil hat guys. Like telling people that Gods is a conspiracy against common people, or mages trick masses into believing into almighty gods to [XYZ]...well, you know the drill.
  13. Mass Effect had very bad approach to "go there" option. You could get fetch quest like "Return artefact from Narum". And you have no information where that Narum or something is. Is it star system or planet? And you had to hover your mouse over all dots in star map to highlight system name. After all it was easier to go to wikia and ee where you had to fly, rahter than jump to every system and fly over every planet in hopes of finding one. That was mostly journal flaw, but still a possible problem if journal entries will be disconnected to player's knowledge of the world.
  14. We've seen shark people in BG2 already when they boarded your ship. They were savage, but still sociable, I would like to see some seafaring race of shark people that is not barbaric savages and have own developed culture. Sadly, when I tried to search for sharkmen pictures to see how they may look like, most results were...porn. Makes me lose faith in humanity.
  15. Unlike D&D, Warhammer world have races that have NO good or redeeming quialities. Skaven have appearance to represent just that - evil race. If you compare MTG or D&D rat-people with skaven - they are completely different. Skaven have no good outcasts, like good drow or noble orcs.
  16. Swords are ok when they are not 2-3 meter long or have more iron in them than all PC armor combined.
  17. 1. Search for pieces of the artefact, scattered across the city. 2. Go to big arrows on the minimap. 3. PROFIT!!! We are all familiar with them from Skyrim, Oblivion, Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. Every quest turns into a joke with big arrows indicating where we must go, with whom we must speak and so on. Please, no more! Let us search if quest says we must find something. Let us think if there's a riddle, let us search and ask people for information, instead of going stright for the right person. The markers nullify the very concept of non-fetch quests. And even fetch quests could be interesting, but not when right from the start you have indicators pointing where, for example, igridients for some potion are located.
  18. Personally I am afraid PE would to repeat a Dragon age 2 situation, where two-handed weapons were the fastest in the game. Even faster than dual daggers. I don't want to see another DA2 and Devil May Cry-like 2-handed weapons that weight like feather and able to slash 8367 times per second. I know 2-H swords were not a massive things and were actually rather lightweight and flexible weapons, but if we have MASSIVE weapons, like clubs, sledgehammers, mauls or such, then I think it'll be reasonable for them to act like one. Especially with that fantasy addiction for weapons with the blades the size of the character! One example of fictional overly-massive cleaver I am not annoyed with: In this animation - I can feel the inertion and weight of this cleaver even when handled by insanely strong Pyramid Head. I suppose PE may have a race that is stronger than humans and thus can handle massive weapons easier, but still, please, take weight in consideration! Reason for my fear is this: http://youtu.be/M0chqZWxTQ4
