The PCvsXbox thread revisted.
The main issue for me is Q. Does a huge number of the bugs and problems with running the KoTOR series on PC, stem from it being developed simultaneously for an obsolete POS system like the Xbox? A. Yes.

Good RTS games
Free download: http://www.abandonia.com/games/36/Dune_2/Dune2.htm It was among the first PC games I played, loved it. For me, the whole RTS genre was ruined somewhere around when StarCraft came and people started whoring instead of playing for fun.

Depends on where you buy them http://www.webhallen.com has the best prices Ive come across. I got K2 for 399SEK, but the "Xbox games cost 100kr more for no reason at all" rule still applies though. 512k GFx memory? Hmm, I dont remember the graphics card having memory at all.. it was just EGA, CGA, VGA and S-VGA

Good RTS games
I usually hate RTS but a friend got me Wh40:DoW and it was fun. Dont think its very balanced though, Space Marines pretty much own the game.

Now, I ve always heard such fantastic things about how deep character interaction and story can be in the games of our eastern friends, but Ive never played anything else than FF 7 (very briefly) I understand most are for consoles, but arent there any good ones for PC? Care to recommend any?

Then you'll probably have to look to japanese RPGs because IMO, no western made RPG can match the KoTOR series in this aspect.

Question for the EU canon lawyers
OE had to send concepts and descriptions for almost every piece of K2 to LA for clearance, therefore, everything that made it into the game is now officially SW EU canon?

a clear demonstration of a lack of understanding of capitalism. not a surprise. capitalism works in every instance that it is implemented, failing only due to outside interference (typically government) which, by definition, makes it no longer capitalism. ..in the mean time, capitalism is working as expected, with weaker companies falling by the wayside (interplay, troika). if obsidian is not careful, it will suffer the same fate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its the regular my "real world capitalism" vs. your "theoretical/ideal capitalism" definition issue again. By my definition, the above was an example of capitalism(real world) working(with a positive effect = relatively cheap games). And every system works. Capitalism works, feudalism works, theocracy works. But the fact that a system can achieve status quo for a longer period of time does not mean it has positive effects for the people forced to live within that system.

I feel like PC games have been at around 450 SEK for ages... but my numeric memory isnt very good. I do remember that my 386sx 33mHz with 4mb RAM cost my father around 10000 SEK in 1993

Continuing upon Feargus tragicomic theme here I think the price of computer games is among the few areas where capitalism and market economy actually works in reality. If games cost more, people simply wouldnt buy them. So the selling price remains at the same level while production costs continually rise. The only logical thing to do, is to make shure you can sell to a wider audience by making computer games as much a mainstream product as music, books and film. Games have always had this "kids stuff" stamp on them that is gradually wearing off as is happening with comics.
