This is interesting (honest)
Kaftan Barlast replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
Continuing upon Feargus tragicomic theme here I think the price of computer games is among the few areas where capitalism and market economy actually works in reality. If games cost more, people simply wouldnt buy them. So the selling price remains at the same level while production costs continually rise. The only logical thing to do, is to make shure you can sell to a wider audience by making computer games as much a mainstream product as music, books and film. Games have always had this "kids stuff" stamp on them that is gradually wearing off as is happening with comics. -
I dont trust any company to build my computers, you always discover some little thing like how the graphics card is some dodgy Brand-X that may be licensed to be called a "nVidia 6800U" but actually uses a modified carburetor from an old volkswagen as a GPU.

Megatron would totally own Exar Kun.

action-packed.. I remeber the Swedish translation wasnt that well done, there was always lots of puns etc. that were completely incomprehensible. Sort of like an autobot would say something like "brains before brawn" and itd translate into complete gibberish. I also remember there was this funky planet that Scorponok(I had the toy...he was HUGE.. lost the head though ) conquered and the human leader was called "galen" which means "insane" in Swedish. Caused much confusion in my 8 yearold brain.

Lucas to re-release the Star Wars movies...
Kaftan Barlast replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Way Off-Topic
I think he should just leave them alone. Discreet things like grain reduction, re-rotoscoping sabers, adding discreet CGI backgrounds and remastering the sound etc. are ok but not replacing actors or adding horribly done alien cabaret numbers -
I managed to dig up the very first issues of Transformers and its really good(seen with the rose-colored glasses of childhood, it was my fav comic). Text-heavy and with a few "classics" like below: -So Starscream, you strike at me because you think isolation makes me vulnerable? You've obviously never flown in the face of my Glass-gas gun! -Yarrgh! The gas coats me, making my metal brittle and breakable like glass! Its awfully considerate of Starscream to not only scream in pain, but to carefully inform everyone around him of the effects of Cliffjumpers Gas-glass gun.

You can download the bulk of the series for free at Abandonia I only played Ultima 8 - Pagan but I really liked the atmosphere. Never finished it, though. I used some rune or whatever that you had to have later in the game. plunder, plunder, plunder...

The first step to curing yourself is admittting you are ill. So stop making meaningless polls about which Twi'lek youd rather impregnate or which Jedi has the longest lightsaber, and answer the question.

Learning Swedish with Kaftan Barlast
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
Hah ha ha! Best joke ever! Melody of swedish. Heh. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Said the goat to the gardener." You hard-consonant using, bastardly finn. FoD> Yeah, that'd be great! Please decribe the essence of this picture in Chinese. -
Although the menu system of K2 is better, I would have prefered it blue. I dont like green.

R6 is very straightforward and uncomplicated. It has a great gun-feeling(you can actually hear the mehcanism work, not just the "bam!") but the AI is horrible and there is no action.

Learning Swedish with Kaftan Barlast
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
Neg. Any english speaking foreigner using this method will express himself in nothing but the purest Swedish, indistinguishable from native Swedes. I swear. -
Welcome to part number one. Here, we will look at a few pictures and you will learn to describe their content them in Swedish. The previois version of this thread contained some exposure of female epidermis and has been remastered for american audiences using the latest in digital imaging technology. http://www.ntf.se/Stockholm/bilder/pension

Sadly, I only get dubbed Cartoon Network But if I have the possibility to watch it and record it legally, then downloading it with BT or whatever and watching it on my comp with the original language, would be perfectly legal? I mean, Ive already payed for it.

I would have waited for a finished game
Kaftan Barlast replied to camus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I might add that with LA, schedual is extra important as they time the releases of various SW based games, so that the customers wont loose interest, be overswamped in SW products amd will have saved up enough cash to buy the next in line. K2 could not be allowed to coincide with "Republic Commando" for instance. We know that quality is all that really matters, but publishers aswellas record companies are run by bussinessmen with no real understanding or interest in anything else than profit. Its quite insane when you think about it, but thats the way things are. -
Rampant lying by NPC's about time
Kaftan Barlast replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The time issue is a staple of CRPG's. How else would you have the time to spend months doing various quests while your damsel in distress sits awaiting her doom as she is captured by the evil villain? I think BgII has one of the worst examples where you must hurry to free poor Imoen, but you still somehow have the time to skulk around the city and country for an eternity. -
I would have waited for a finished game
Kaftan Barlast replied to camus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As most with most publishers, LA doesnt care about wether the games are complete or if they're even good. All that matters is that they keep budget, schedual and make money. A few months extra would have cost LA more money so that clearly wasnt a possibility. -
I wouldnt say that, I think Sin City's got just the style it should have. Its very impressive that he does it all by himself too. p.s jessica alba so ugleh

Star Wars fantasies - Revised
Kaftan Barlast replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What about fuel-line intake? " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wherever your docking equipment apparatus fits. Well now, we tried to explain. There is good taste and bad taste. You like TotJ, some people like to eat human feces, that doesnt mean either one of you is on the right track. -
This is not true. My main tactic in Gothic was to get up on some difficult to get to place and then fire away at unsuspecting enemies below. They will notice you when they get hit (duh!) but they do not need to detect you beforehand. I've used this tactic a billion times. You are doing something wrong. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope. I have 40% with both Bows and Crossbow, neither does any damage unless the enemy spots you.

This way of handling skill+stat based combat is idiotic. It makes you feel like youre playing with local anasthesia in your fingers or like you have an old worn-out mouse you need to click really hard for anything to happen, extremely frustrating. I say give the player 100% control from the beginning and let the players increase damage or gain special attacks as he progresses instead.
-
A feature Im really starting to get mad at is that its impossible to hit or damage enemies with bows and crossbows unless the enemy has spotted you at which point you only be able to squeeze of a shot or two before getting pummeled while trying to get your sword. You can be standing 4 meters from an unsuspecting Scavenger shoting off all your arrows but you wont actually hit until it notices you, at which point a single hit will kill it. Idiotic. Obviously they did it this way to keep players from being able to snipe at enemies from afar, but I dont see why. They allow exploiting in every other way, almost encourages it as its impossible to take some enmies in a straightforward fight.

Yet Another Week and No Patch

Well, it was LA that forced Obsidian to work on a schedual that didnt allow for any extensive QA. -

I wonder if George would be ok with Star Wars themed realdolls? Given the social abilities of the average fan, the market potential would be enormous. -
