  1. ...and they will also digitally change the color of Greedos pants. .
  2. So Mr. Avellone does not find himself to appreciate Opera. And it is this kind of cultural brute that we are to entrust with the delicate task of producing suitable electronic entertainment for our young? Simply appalling!
  3. Why choose anything else when you can get? "the horror... the horror.." Ive heard from secure sources that K3 will take al lot of influence from the first drafts of "Apocapyspe Now". It'll be about this cool guy who goes to find a lost Jedi Master who is holed up and doped up on a jungle planet. And thats just the intro, the actual game consists of guiding your character through his widly psychadelic trips on Mandalorian mescaline. (Apocalypse Now aka "psychedelic soldier" original screenplay)
  4. but on the roleplaying... Can I be a level 400 Sith Lord and eat planets?
  5. A lot of people say Beach Boys are fantastic, part of rock history and Brian Wilson's a songwriting genious and all.. I dont get it, they were just another boring pop hit machine like the crap thats playing on MTV today.
  6. I remember when UO came, the expectations were so high "Imagine the possibilities!" we said. Look at what it turned out to be... mmorpg arent dead, they were stillborn.
  7. I agree, devs seem to think (at best) that an NPC is over and done with as soon as you've done their personal quest, which is just plain wrong.
  8. I just realised I had been listening to nothing but the Grim Fandango OST and coctail music for three days now...
  9. I think its a very very bad idea to have it that way. Having less HP and making less damage and so on is enough, not being able to control my character is just plain annoying. I mean its exactly like you would have your cursor be really slow or erraticly moving in a regular CRPG. There was a time in the late 90s when all makers of FPS games tried to make things more "realistic" or whatever, by shaking the screen as the character walked or having the crosshairs wobble aroud when you got hit so the rest of the enmy could mow you down as you watched helplessly. All that ever did was take away gameplay and REALLY frustrate people. Stuff like this might make sense in some developers head but it doesnt work in reality.
  10. Well, what can one say. We pwnd you in the last war and now all your base are belong to us :D And nowadays we dont even need an army and havent for a century. We simply lack anything of interest to.. anyone basicly, unless you have a fetisch for pine trees, we have lots of those. Look at WWII, the Jerries took you, Norway and the Finns allied themselves with em so the didnt have to take them. Meanwhile, Sweden remained completely unmolested. I think even Usama Bin Laden(who visited Falun, Sweden with his family in the 70's which gave inspiration to a book called "the sheik in..somewher" that was later filmed.) has said something along the lines of Sweden being the last country on earth he'd ever consider attacking.
  11. Something I absolutely hate abot Gothic 2s control system is the sluggishness and unresponsiveness. Not only do I get killed rather often because my character is so slow to draw, but I often die needlessly because I cant steer properly like you should in an action game. Yesterday I spent a good 10 minyutes trying to jump over a spike trap. It would have been easy, except that you never know if your char is actually going to jump when you press the button. If this is their way to make the game more challenging, its among the most idiotic Ive ever seen. I dont know about you, but I dont find frustration the least bit enjoyable.
  12. I understood it as a broken quest, you cant use the airspeeder for anything even if you do repair it? Correct?
  13. I was just watching a rather amusing documentary on Star Wars which featured rather laid-back interviews with all the big actors from the both the original and prequels. Since it wasnt part of the promo tour they were all quite outspoken, I cant remember the exact quotes but some were "..and the script! I just said to George 'shure you can write this sh*t but its *** impossible to say' " -Harrison Ford "He keeps saying he knows exactly how he wants everything, but hasnt got a clue how to tell others about it." -Liam Neeson "The lines... I dont get how anything can actually say stuff like this out loud and get away with it" -Ewan mcGregor "Directors usually say something, comment after the takes and so..George didnt. He never said anything to me. Maybe he said 'Hmm' once." -Anthony Daniels "The script..I was trying to be casual about it" -Carrie Fisher There was just tons of it, I wish I had taped it. Granted, some were not being completely serious but it was great. And his chin... gah. its like his neck just continues up til it touched his lower lip *shivers*
  14. It was a little more left than just Stockholm and a bit of countryside.. As you can see from this map from 1801, Sweden terroitorial outline has changed very little since then. Our period as a conquering nation ended in 1718 with the death of Karl XII in Norway and geographicly in 1720 and 21 where we were forced to give up our territory in Preussia and Balticum. thread derailed.
  15. Flame Bait: -Provocative material in an article that, intentionally or unintentionally, will make people angry and invite flames in response. See trolling. -A controversial message that is almost guaranteed to attract flaming. -An inflammatory message that is posted with the express purpose of provoking flame responses "
  16. Im shure you're right Mkreku, but can you give any examples? The only games Ive seen in swedish is games directed at young children. Definently not A-list material. we could scale it to different translation levels. 1. full trans. with re-recorded/dubbed voices 2. trans of text-based menus and subtitles but not audio 3. trans installation guide, readme etc.
  17. For once, agre with Volo we do.
  18. childhood conditioning. SoM was "big brother" music. and age differances seemed so huge when you're that age.
  19. true for Gothic 2, too
  20. I was watching Russian baywatch. There was just one tired guy talking(without any hint of trying to convey the emotional content of whatever lines he read of his paper) all the time and you could still hear the original voices in the background.
  21. Something I always wonder about is how regular people stay alive in these generic fantasy worlds. I mean, could you survive in an enviroment where stepping five meters outside your door would get you face-to-face with atleast 3 dangerous, highly-aggressive, man-eating monsters of various origin? -You look tired, had a rough morning? -Yeah, was taking the dog for a walk. Everything was going fine, just had to slay 4-5 goblins and some ferocious wolves with my bare hands. But then, this pack of Ogres jumped me and by the time I had killed em all my dog had run off. Had to kill an entire clan of barbarians, two wyrms and a liche before I found him. -Oh, that's rough. Reminds me of when my wife called me here at work and told me a host of demons had laid siege to the house. I just barely got home, killed off the lesser demons, banished the lord of chaos and back to work again before the 2 o clock meeting. -Yeah, but that's life I guess.
  22. I dont get it why you strange people in Europe and Russia etc. have to have all the fuzz and things having special releases with everything translated. We swedes have had US or UK editons and have since the dawn of time. We dont even translate our own games to swedish. "Beneath a steel sky" is still the only non-educational game to ever have been translated and that was just the subtitles. You people can speak English just as well as we Scandinavians do, so why do you keep at this nonsense? We get some german, russian and spanish channels over the dish with dubbing and its like having your brain turned inside out. Its not healthy, you should stop it. Once a friend of mine taped Star Wars dubbed to German and none who saw it recovered properly from the experience.
  23. I just hope they let their imaginations rip and come up with something that'll change the CRPG world away from this same old rut we're stuck in.
