  1. Still, I wonder what would happen if you were open about the game? I suspect the PR boom from that could be more powerful than the "controlled information release" we have now. Wouldnt you prefer to get: "we have worked to implement X but it causes a texture bug thats related with the collisions somehow, so we're not sure if we will be able to finish it in time because we have other features that we prioritise higher" Rather than "I cant say if X will be in game game or not, but we hope so" I know I would.
  2. Of all the stupid things to do... I mean, if you're going to murder someone, could you PLEASE try and do it for a reason that actually makes sense? Whats next? Blowing up people whose ties dont match their shirts?
  3. I havent signed anything yet so, yes Sacred 2. Suppose Id go on and disclose something like that there will be X new spells.. what could that matter to anyone? I dont work for them I get no pay and no credit. Thats hardly a choice, IMO. But Im not really making a serious argument here, Im just ranting about being forced to sign lots of binding legal documents I dont want to sign and dont see the need for "
  4. My dad works for a security company as an engineer, yet he is allowed to talk WAAAY more about what he does than the average game developer employee. Does that make sense to you? And with the project that I might join: -Its a sequel that everyone knows is comming so no harm in saying what game it is. -There is nothing revolutionary whatsoever about the game mechanics or graphics that could be copied. -There is about as much story as in Diablo, so noone cares about spoilers anyway. -There is nothing unique or new about the game or the tools used to make it Its a secret not worth keeping a secret.
  5. I just saw it. Average Hollywood entertainment, nothing more nothing less. X-men has always been a completely character driven affair that doesnt lend itself well to a 2hour film format, where theres no time to give space to all the characters. But my personal issue with all three films is that theyve completely screwed up Mystique. I can understand that they didnt want two major badguys and so couldnt go with the "mastervillain mystique" of the comics.. but what I can figure out is why they spent thousands of dollars and 6-7hours every day of shooting, on turning her into some scaly blue freak when they could have just gone with a cool suit, a red wig and some facepaint? It would have looked much, much better. hollywood logic never ceases to amaze me "
  6. We got some last year students at Uni (Im studying game development with a major in graphics) who are working on a commercial project which forced them to sign an NDA so theyre sitting in the room next to us but they cant say one word of what theyre doing. Next year I might join a team who is doing some outsourced work for a German CRPG( that Im not supposed to talk about), and Ill be forced to sign an NDA aswell. When did this extreme need for secrecy come up? Was it like this 10 years ago?
  7. That might be true, because I havent read the entire "House of M" thing. I still hate it when they reference to something you know is in a mag you havent got, it makes you think youve missed a lot more than you have.
  8. In my book, Beneath a Steel SKy looks BETTER than oblivion " VGA pwns.
  9. Unless they play more traditional metal, its numetal. But I dont listen to metal much anymore, it just feels like the genre has been going in circles for the last 5-10 years. In some specific subgenres like grindcore, that isnt really a problem because it was never about being original, but mostly its tiresome to hear bands plagiarize eachother ad infinitum.
  10. Not a big loss IMO, their big features like Sojourn, Scion etc. were boring fantasy crap for 12yearolds. This is one thing I cant stand with Marvel, I want to be able to buy one mag and still get whats going on. House of M was spread over 50 issues, its just a nightmare.
  11. You can have a story, yes. But you cant have a story that relies heavily on characters in your party since they could die, and then you would loose a huge chunk of the story and the game would suck.
  12. I liked it in Fallout2 where youd accidentally mow down your entire party with the Vindicator and theyd all gib.. huh huh huh.. that was awesome and as long as you have SAVE/LOAD, death is actually completely pointless
  13. Thats true, but its also necessary to ensure that the character goes out the right way, or the drama of it goes right down the drain. Dying from an unlucky ratbite in some random sewer encounter isnt exactly going out in a blaze of glory "
  14. Gas-Powered Games and Crhis Taylor, huh? The same people who gave us such outstanding games such as Dungeon Siege 1&2 ? " ( Im not touching this game with a 3m pole )
  15. The reason they do it like this is beause in a story that is very character-driven, a dead character means a lot of "If character X alive=false , then disable event 1,47,27,296,27,59,28..." work not to mention the horrible consequences it has on the story. Imagine K2 without Kreiah "
  16. The OE developers visit these forums very seldom nowadays and post even less. Youd be better of actually calling a company in your vicinity.
  17. Samething for desktops. Zing! Anyway, I picked this one: here. It is good for my budget, and I believe it meets my criteria. Also, too bad about that lappy, Sawyer. We do want to hear the story though. I just don't understand why people have to go and steal things in real-life when they have RPGs in which to steal stuff <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That GPU is a bit lacking (no SM3): nVidia have a mobile GPU that is as good as their desktop 7x series. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They dont put those in cheap-to-mid range laptops though.
  18. Id say its negligible. The load on the CPU is very small and as all modern games rely more on the GFX, you wont gain anything by having a separate soundcard. Unless you have specific needs such as a DTS decoder or if your planning to record music, you dont need anything extra.
  19. Thats pretty much exactly whats in my laptop... yours is a lot prettier though
  20. Am I the only one left in the world whose mobile still sounds like a phone? p.s It was teh funneh. :D
  21. No, you're completely right. Hole in ozone layer = badness No more hole = good Maybe theyve been exposed to so much corporate propaganda that theyve begun to believe the opposite? "
  22. *listens to the audio clips* How come every single computer game person Ive ever heard talks in the exact same way when giving a demo?
  23. lol more like $3800. I got the high-end version. It wasn't insured, but I am getting another one. Someday I will tell the tale of what happened to it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We all know it was Ramza, in a last desperate attempt to get his hands on the design plans for Jefferson "
  24. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1 Its what I use with all my ancient games, nothing Ive tried this far have failed to run. And its got commands to slow games down.
  25. My laptop is very good, I dont think you can get more value for your money. Its an Acer 5024WLMi -AMD 64 3000+ -ATi X700 128mb -100gig HD ( and other goodies like gigabit ethernet ) For only about $1200, but as I bought this in the autumn you can probably get a newer and better model for the same price. I have friends who bought Dell and LG laptops with the same or lower specs for up to $2000
