  1. I would like a dumping of all things supernatural and a game set in THE REAL WORLD.
  2. I love Civ4 and I think its worthy of its place, I didnt experience any problems playing it on my laptop. However, RTW is my favorite strategy game of all time.
  3. WIll you be playing 2nd edition or the old version? The older version comes with its own set of bugs. We play 2nd ed. because it makes more sense and does away with nonsense like the alignment system. *fondly remembers that time on the riverboat when my Judicial Champion tore a whole pack of rabid zealots to pieces with her bare hands, so much gore* p.s critical hit tables rule
  4. Sim City 2000 ruled, I played that for endless hours when it came out.
  5. This is my home computer, a bit messy, I tend to keep my laptop(which I use for work) cleaner
  6. I had time to play it maybe 15min today when I was home for dinner. The keyboard felt really unrepsonsive to use so I plugged in a friends 360 controller and that worked better except I hate how the imprecise the lookaround is with a thumbstick.
  7. Ive played it lots and lots, both the old edition and the second edition. Its a great setting and the ruleset is above average(combat is especially fun and gory). The bad things are: The magic system is broken. Since you only need to roll dice to suceed in casting a spell, you can cast them an infinite number of times. There is usually no save roll guaranteeing mages to do major damage every turn. The spells are also poorly balanced and there are too few of them to choose from, you end up with just a single attack spell which you spam again and again. Unlike Call of Cthulhu, you only have 6 insanity points before your character goes permanently insane. These insanities are mostly character-killers so after 6 point, you have to make a new one. There are also no temporary insanities to simulate the effect of seeing something horrendous. Chaos magic is grossly unbalanced. Most of the spells cause mutation in the victim, which means your average chaos-fighting character will end up looking like the toxic avenger in no time. This has been the no.1 character killer in our games, as a mutated character will be swiftly killed by the law, if not by his own party members. The economics are completely and utterly broken. If you follow the rules, it would take a wealthy merchant 10 years to save enough money to buy a single horse. While on the other hand, you can make enough money to buy 10 horses by buying and selling wool.
  8. Everything in NWN2 looks like they do in the D&D Monster Manual. Sure, the elves do look like Frick from the Merlin miniseries but theyre supposed to
  9. I just have to express my dismay in that I have recieved my pre-ordered copy of Jade Empire(PC) but I have so much work at University that I wont be able to play it for maybe 2 weeks. Back when I was younger and more irresponsible, this wasnt an issue. Dont you also dislike it when this happens?
  10. Im quite sure thats a Swedish invention, I first saw that system used in Lancelot Games "Western" RPG from the late 80's. Their system is famous for the fact that unskilled characters have a better chance of hitting if they aim outside the target
  11. Thankyouverymuch Mr. Sawyer, jolly good job. It seems simple enough for the numbnuts to understand it too, in D100 systems you can just flip the numbers (91 becomes 19 etc. ).
  12. Is your system kickass, when can I sneak a peek at it? As Ive said before, I have a perverse interest in game systems.
  13. Ive just used a nightvision monocular, it was generation 1 with an IR diode. The thing is that you get an extremely narrow FOV, so you cant really see much anyway.. and the Gen1 is crap
  14. We tried using the Vitality system but it didnt work, some of the less brainy members of the group just couldnt get their heads around it. Which is also why we're using d20 Modern and not a better system for this campaign. The "roll with the punches" thing never made sense to me. How do you roll with being shot by a .50 cal sniper rifle? And donning major body armour doesnt reduce damage, the bullets just magicly turn mid-air and misses you. Rubbish, I say!
  15. But that would require 2 extra dice rolls above the attack roll. I think we'll steal a d100 hit location system from somewhere, that way we'll get more detailed locations. Does the crit thing work well? Looks like it could needlessly prolong combat if you roll limbshots
  16. We're going to try a d20 Modern campaign now, and since we're all used to systems that use hit locations, I was wondering if anyone knows of a smooth way to implement it into d20. The way we're thinking of invovles using second d20 or d100 roll to determine hit location after youve made your attack roll but maybe there is a more creative way to do it?
  17. A new rules system by none other than the Hades/Visceris man himself? Even with my perverse interest in game systems, this is something I have to see My entire Uni Department aswellas all the students use OpenOffice. Its free, it runs on both Windows and Linux, can handle all standard format AND it can save PDF's with the click of a button.
  18. Elves, orcs, and dragons are elements of medieval fantasy. Fantasy, in using this style of definition, is swords and sorcery. Now you're just splitting hairs.
  19. This whole debate originates from certain individuals being unable to grasp the differance between "fantasy" as a word and "fantasy" as a genre. The dictionary says: Which means you can label 99% of all fiction as Fantasy. But only an idiot would do that, because every sensible person out there knows that when something is labeled "fantasy" it will be about magic, elves, orcs and dragons... not spaceships or nurses falling in love with doctors.
  20. I can hear very well to the point of silliness sometimes. But its strange with those very faint noises, its like you dont know if youve actually heard it or just made it up in your head.
  21. In Sweden, we tax everything, sometimes we do it twice just to be sure
  22. I saw "Tess of the D'urbervilles" once. Big mistake.
  23. First, space games rule. Second, you're a nerd.
  24. BioWare has some really dodgy art direction, the armours and aliens look way too funky for my taste. ..and Ill play it on my schools h4xxored 360 or my neighbours, but I wont pay for it until its released for PC
  25. Dinosaurs > Dragons (dragons are gay, btw)
