Could you mention Superman in a Spiderman comic?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
It totally is not. Do you see Darth vader go "Abra-kadabra simsalabimsaladusalim!" when he forcechokes someone? Do you see Luke Skywalker collecting batwings to brew a force-potion? Does Obi-Wan kenobi need a wand to forcepush people? No, they dont, the force is quasi-philosophy mixed with extra-sensory perception and telekinesis... and the occasional force lighting Let's face it, magic is totally and utterly gay. I mean, Ms. Marvel threw a damn cat at The Traveller in order to defat him, what does that say about the coolness of magic? The Punisher is a thousand times more wickid than Dr. Strange and all he has is guns. -

Cant he ever make up his mind?! And stop comming up with lame back-explanations for his bad ideas I read Bilbo and Lotr when I was very young so Im biased to think he's awesome when he in fact could be a sissy from a more objective standpoint. -

You're such a liar Surreptishus, there is no way Houdini could have fit into Clark Kents underpants. but... Zatanna! Its still gay. Magic is for elves and other sissies. Not a Star Wars fan? The force is tiny bacteria in your blood, not magic. Phh.... -

Motorcyclists, post about your SWEET RIDES
Kaftan Barlast replied to J.E. Sawyer's topic in Way Off-Topic
That's a sweet bike. If I had abike like that I would ride it almost every weekend.. but Swede laws demand lots of expensive trainign, licenses and whatnot to allow you to legally ride a motorbike so no bike for me. 98% of Swedish bikers are men in their 40+ that got their bike license for free before they instigated all the stupid laws I bought a bicycle in the same price class but I had a frontal collision with a car and now it dont work so good anymore. -

DO they have magic in Farscape? I think that whoever invented having magic in superhero comics should have been shot in the face. And Dr. Strange is excruciatingly gay* * I dont know what "perjorative" means so I can say gay as much as i want -
Could you mention Superman in a Spiderman comic?

Superman is so ridiculously powerful that it's really no fun. An interesting hero must have weakneses and kryptonite-allergy just doesnt cut it... although I still dig that thing where the little green guy hypnotized him into doing 80 -
I was sitting here, enjoying myself with an issue of "Deadpool & Cable" and he frequently likes to break the fourth wall in various ways.. and that got me thinking about wether characters in one comicbook can mention others from other books? Like could for instance, Spiderman make a comment on how something reminds him of something he read in a superman comic? Could Yorrick and 355 talk about how much the Fantastic Four films suck? And what about brands and company names and stuff? Can you write a book where someone goes and eats a QP at McDonalds? Or uses an IBM computer?

This is a very common scenario in the world of game development, Ive had it happen to alot of friends of mine. The worst scenario Ive heard of is with a friend of mine who was working freelance developing an online education game. He's worked like a slave since christmas only to find out that the serverside development is in a complete standstill, and the project coordinator having embezzled their paychecks it seems. The main reason why this happens to people is because you're afraid to say "no" because then maybe you will be seen as overly negative or work-shy. But it's common to have management people with no technical background whatsoever dictating the terms of development and they *will* make your life hell. They will take a look at the budget and most often come to the conclusion that "shorter development time = less costs = more profit" without realising what the consequences are. I have developed both a good sense of how long things take to make, aswellas as a "spidersense" of when a deal is dubious. I was offered to work on the project mentioned above but I turned it down because the schedual was so tight that it was obvious that the management didnt know what they were doing. If you're already in a project and the management tries something like this, then its time to firmly plants both heels in the ground and pull the break with all your might. Explain that Task X will take a minimum of two weeks to do, or it wont get done at all. Assert your technical authority, if you say it cant be done, it cant be done. Make it clear to them that if you dont get the time and resources you need, they WONT get a product. Make them think youre indispensable, and then threaten to quit if you dont get your way. It might seem suicidal to take such a hard stance, but an artist I know is even more adamant than I am, and he is among the most well-paid and often-hired in Sweden. So it does work.

This is what you get for teaching thirld-world countries about the dangers of cooties. -
I reverted back to 91-something and that got rid off the Problem in Marvel:Ultimate Alliance, Ill get around to trying the rest later. ..and I cant use Vista if i want to be able to do anything with the computer, MAX, XSI and Zbrush3 all perform like crap under it.

No, it's not. Ive just played about an hour of Rainbow Six: Vegas which uses the Unreal3 engine and thus is a hell of alot more demanding on the GFX than NWN2 and it works fine And in STALKER, it only bugs out in certain locations in areas. Others go without a hitc

I doubt its overheating, my card idles at 45C and full load about 70C, my old 6800 ran alot hotter than that without probs The only other time Ive seen this was with my Laptops crappy ATI x700 card, but updating the drivers made it go away to never come back again.

Take a look at this: http://www.xn--holmstrm-t4a.net/pics/NWN2_...1807_172354.jpg This happens with almost every game I try to play now, I frist noticed it while playing Stalker on the "military warehouses" area but now its started to appear in Nwn2 and Ive just tried Marvel Ultimate alliance aswell. Whats wrong? I suspect a driver error My setup: BFG Geforce 7900GTX with 94.24 drivers Asus P5B-E Plus P965 Intel E6600

I dont even remember Feng's old username anymore, when he got banned and stuff. It was something gay, right? p.s are we still allowed to say "gay" on these forums?

Oh blast! Here Im away for a few measly months and already Im off everyones favorites lists, a scandal it is! Favorites: everyone from the old gang except hades because he isnt hades anymore Disfavorites: what would a forum be without people like Eddo36 or that weird jugoslavian man who called Ender an honourless dog for real? Or when Shadowponce was a genuine nazi-mod and tried to get me kicked from the modsquad all the time? :D

I used that plugin to create the normalmap on this model, but it doesnt "bump" enough for the engine to actually show it. But mostly, Id use Zbrush because Im a perfectionist and it would look infinitly much better with properly sculpted hair. And XSI is teh shiznitz
-
No screens for the wicked! I just saw this tutorial on sculpting a female character in Zbrush3 and if I was going to spend time with a hair model, thats probably the way Id do it. But that would take a bit more work than Im willing to do right now. WHat I should be doing is learning Softimage|XSI instead of fooling around

The hardcore gamer is a myth. And a "casual gamer" would never even pay the 150

All my friends have DS's but I think its rubbish. All the games developed for it feel like those flash minigames you can play for free on whichever site you wish and it cant handle games ported from other platforms because 1) its too slow to handle really anything but 2D (I have friends who develop DS games and they hate it) 2) the screens are too small so you cant see what youre doing. The PSP isnt much better (the UMD format may be the dumbest trick Sony ever turned) but has mp3, video and lets you play fighting games.

Ok, fine. Here is my hair files http://www.xn--holmstrm-t4a.net/pics/nwn2_hair_kaftan.rar Its sloppy work mind you, I wasnt really thinking when I made it so instead of taking polys from the head, copying them and thus ening up with a mesh that fit the head very closely, I just doodled up a quick spline profile and went from there. Thus: 1 the hair doesnt fit the head too closely resulting in a slight "helmet" look 2 it clips like crazy with the rest of the model 3 its not two-sided all the way so you can see right through it sometimes 4 the normal map doesnt seem to be quite bumpy enough 5 the tintmap is the result of 5min in photoshop, so it doesnt work that well 6 its rigged to only the base head bone, so it wont flop when you run and so on

I thought Id try to play a bit of NWN2 today with the new patch, and all was well except for the fact that I could not find any good haircuts for a female character. So I just thought "Oh shoot! I'll just make my own then" and I swooshed up 3ds Max and modeled a new hair, textured it shabbily, rigged it stiffly to the head and there, I could finally play. Is this taking it too far? I know I didnt like the way the weapons felt in STALKER so I modded them aswell. Im starting to do it more and more, will this end with me spending a year modifying a game with fully animated custom models, expanded storyline, tweaked gameplay etc. just so Ill be able to enjoy it without being annoyed by some tiny detail? Should I just leave my games alone? ( I'll upload the hair thingie later if anyones interested )

I would really need one of those desks with moving surfaces that ket you alternate between using a keyboard and a tablet real quick and easy. I have an A3 format Wacom and that sucker is too big for me to have anything else on the desk with it

Does anyone know what size widescreen I need to be able to match a 19" regular heightwise? I thought of having a WS monitor dualscreened with my regular normal one and it gets a bit funky if they vary too much in height.

Games used to be alot harder, but these days, publishers are very concerned not to frighten away this mysterious group of people dubbed "casual gamers". So what used to be normal difficulty 5 years ago, is now hard, and todays easy is really just a cakewalk
