  1. Intriguing. Surely Firaxis is hard at work on XCOM 3. Seems this genre has seen a bit of a revival. It was about friggin' time if you ask me! It's a bit surreal, though, how the whole thing happened
  2. Since we're talking about games that are gonna be great, Jullian Gollop's Phoenix Point fig campaign is on and I'm like
  3. The 1st game was 100% playable at release. I've ancountered no bugs whatsoever. Patches changed mechanics-related stuff but didn't change the overall experience for me. I'd expect the same at least for the sequel.
  4. Hah, the 1st one was released March 26, so I made it a birthday present for myself (March 25th) without even knowing! I forgot about that :D I'd love that to happen with the second too!
  5. Nah, hype train left the moment fig campaign was announced It's now broken midway and we're at a waiting station. Thankfully it's big and in a good location so we're not bored until the engine is repaired. The engineer said it'll be fixed sometime next year and we'll continue towards our final destination
  6. Hmmm... I don't know about this... The open world is a "feel" as you said. It's not going to be sandbox open world. More likely like Fallout 2 open world. I'm fine with it - after all I'd like a different take on exploration, else that part of the game's gonna be one of the same. For the level 1, I always like to start a game anew. I wouldn't like much to continue from level 16 - too cumbersome especially after all that time since my last playthrough! (I'd might like a different character though). But those two are just personal preferences and are understanable. Now the third one is objective. I don't think the team shows like they are doing more that they can. On the contrary. They showed exactly what they're trying to do and were tight with stretch goals. No huge dungeons, no two cities, no features on the fly. Specific stuff, gameplay demo video etc. They sound pretty confident. Big difference than Pillars 1 campaign. My only concern is that the main plot and general roleplay/companion interactions won't be up to the xpectations. Because I expected more from the 1st game on that and it didn't deliver (except main plot - it was great imo, but linear). White March showed potential but still, it is a difficult thing to achieve. Way more difficult that good mechanics, encounter design and inspired locations.
  7. Time is a flat circle, we've always been in the Deadfire. There is hidden save called gamecomplete. You can find it in saves folder. Well I feel stupid. How do you tell the difference between them if you have the same character name though? I'm currently doing a Triple Crown and gonna use that as my main import, but I recently beat it with with a character of the same name as my TC game. Game makes different profiles when you start a new game. Even if you name all your characters the same they'll be in a different profile with its own saves.
  8. I'm all in for romance options! You mean to choose in which romance language to play the game in, through the options menu, right?
  9. Pillars 1 -----(about 5 years)-------> Pillars 2. The same time that will pass in real life between those games
  10. The combination of White March + Pillars 2 features explained during Fig campaign makes me very optimistic. I'm looking forward to a very exciting adventure at least. The only thing that can ruin my experience completely is if they don't change might to strength. Kidding
  11. @smjjames Get all the meaty information from the Q&A videos in Obsidian't youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2XOCIitsZtHZmfy9EfjN1kX8ZzpZxznh
  12. In a fantasy game, fantasy stuff, such as magic, can be linked to whatever the creator likes. Having magic derive from might is as meaningful as diriving from intellect (who said magic is mental ability?). In South Park: Stick of Truth, magic derived from fart power; so what? So let's leave D&D arguements to D&D and start having some Pillars arguments for Pillars.
  13. I'm starting to believe that some complainers never played the game at all...
  14. The current system is exactly what you propose to "change".
  15. Are all those people ranting about stats aware that this is a role playing game and not just a fantasy combat dungeon crawler? This stat system helps you (role) play almost any character you can envision (that is possible within the unavoidable restrictions of a video game). Why wish for something closer to DnD systems that traslate so bad in video games? The problems of Pillars are not the stats, imo, and the team showed with White March that they are aware of what they did wrong; I'm very optimistic about character creation/advancement for the sequel from what I've seen in their updates up to now.
  16. These type of threads would not be common if Pillars' system wasn't broken. It's functional, but that's about the best that can be said for it. There's clearly a reason Obsidian are putting a sizable amount of effort into tweaking and revamping the character creation system for Deadfire. These types of threads are common because it's common that some people have very strong opinions about their ideal system (that is as old-school as ADnD most of the times). The team is putting time in perfecting character creation but the stats is not something that will change much (if any), as Sawyer himself mentioned.
  17. Why fix something that's not broken? Pillars stats is one of the things the game did great, imo. Exemplary to future games of the genre that want to use stats.
  18. They should put in a "No Story" mode. There is no dialogue when playing this mode. Only combat
  19. The game should be long, but not longer than it should be.
  20. WM 1+2 were about as long as Tyranny was and felt more complete too. With the expansions Pillars is a pretty huge game - not that the basic was small. Many complain it was too long
  21. There is no "pure fantasy" concept. One can never create something imaginary that has no connection to reality because imagination is part of ones personality that is shaped by their experience and surroundings. So, every fantasy setting, as much fantastic as it might be, is based on how its creator views the world and what their beliefs and opinions are. Personally, I love Pillars' setting. It's one of the things the developers knew exactly how it's gonna be, and that's because it was the director's vision.
  22. The size of Deadfire will be: USA: 20, UK: 20, France: 50, Germany: 48, Italy: 54, Greece: 48, Japan: 21, Mexico: 48. With all seriousness, they said several times it's going to about as long as PIllars was; although we're not sure yet if extra content will be added since we hit the 20 level cap. We'll just have to wair an update (if they're willing to talk about game length - it's a tricky topic).
  23. The OP is right. I think this is getting out of hand. You should do something, like a rally or a demonstration outside their offices. I'm serious ...not.
  24. ... I see what you did there... :D
