  1. You're both right, Halo 2 is a dang good one-dimensional story. And now super pretty with the Anniversary edition. I don't know how they did it, but I totally admire the Master Chief now.
  2. Yes it does not. I used to think I was a reddish David Beckham, but now I know I'm no more than a hungover David Caruso. So I threw in the towel. Lately I read, play games, watch movies, don't even look more than twice at girls. It's not a bad life. I miss it sometimes, but after screwing up so eloquently the best thing ever ... going it alone seems fitting.
  3. Can't tell if serious. If so, very nice to make your acquaintance.
  4. I think I remember that, the male character clapped his fist into his palm pronouncing his desire to mate. Seems silly now that we know Neanderthals were not as dumb as cavemen. A hollow bird-bone flute was discovered. The show I watched is called First Peoples on PBS ...
  5. Best TV news of the year! Even better than Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD Season Two, announced today releasing on blu-ray September 18! Now I just need Daredevil to show up on disc ...
  6. The ''Cro-Magnon'' was not responsible for the demise of the Neanderthal. Just last night I learned homo sapiens bred extensively with Neanderthals. Everyone alive today has 1-3% DNA from them. I can't help but imagine the scandalous stories rivaling the Capulets and Montagues. What did they speak, how did they communicate, what was their favorite game to play ... so fascinating. I can't believe I get to live in the future.
  7. Weird, I loaded the new Catalyst drivers, 15.7, and now there's a slightly blue side-sheen on super white displays on my monitor. I can only see it from an angle. Doesn't appear to be a problem, since I generally view it from ninetyish degrees. Anything over 110 or so, I can see an odd bluish tint where it was more gold before. It's just a middling ASUS non-IPS 1080 panel. Strange.
  8. I recently learned the average GPA of UC freshmen is 4.14 ... probably not so much for City College students. My meager persona is from State. Not SDSU. I'm not sure how most people get in to the convention. Association seems likely. I just know that modern average humans need to pre-register online, in order to be eligible to register online, to be able to have a chance at buying tickets. It's unbelievable. My fondest wish would be a separation of access between the mega movie/media panels and the regular joes/josephines who merely want a commission from their favorite comic artists.
  9. Oldie but goodie. http://on.cc.com/O3Szpb "If only there was an organization that was sworn to defend that free speech."
  10. So it's my opinion now, that Bioware possibly likely heavily borrowed ideas from Bungie Studios, but it's been confirmed they definitely recently stole Halo 4 writer Chris Schlerf to be lead writer on Mass Effect: Andromeda. Which is good, I think. I'm in the middle of Halo 3, the last Bungie title before 343i took over the series. It's a lot of fun. Luckily included in the collection is Halo 4, so very soon I may get a slight sense of what we're in for with Andromeda:
  11. DLC: Downloadable Cheese. If only.
  12. So does Halo. So much so, I think Bioware copied Bungie like a junior-high school term-paper plagiarist. For example, the Citadel holographic girl-computer, as well as the Normandy girl-computer EDI, are pretty much exact replicas of Cortana.
  13. The convention is now a reservation for industry insiders. No longer does locality guarantee inclusion. That's my fancy way of saying if you don't win the ten-minute ticket sell-out lottery in February ... SOL is all you get. Which I already have plenty of. I shoulda called myself ManifestedSOL. Was forced to drive downtown this morning for work, today being the first preview day of SDCC, although work had nothing to do with it. I made it out by 2pm without too much hassle. Public parking quadruples this week, from ten bones a day to $40 per. I'm a nerd and I love comics and cosplay but they need to expand the convention center so normal people can visit Artist's Alley. I'm also envious ... I'd like to shorten my insufferably long name to short and kewl. I'll think of something, I didn't get this English degree for nothing. No, yes I did.
  14. Heh, pretty good voice-over, I haven't heard of YongYea before. Best-ever deadpan delivery of ... "before **** hits the fan." At :42.
  15. I searched and found no plans to release for PC, but they didn't rule it out, either.
  16. That time you try something you thought you hated extensively until you realize you only hated it because you never tried it. Probably sushi, dark ale, and first-person sci-fi shooters are the top three former prejudices. 2014 complete remaster of the 2004 game, switching fidelity on-demand in-game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AhkyhcrDTQ&list=PLIjOk3JOHWxUVoUqg_aLAOrmCmv9b0S1t
  17. That's new, creatures not necessarily appearing with full health and armor. I never noticed the old spears and missing armor plates on the big dino. How interesting, so I won't need to use the same strategies every battle with the same creatures. Some are strong and ready, some could be on their last legs.
  18. They're dropping the numbered sequence, since the game takes place "far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy." The N7 you see in the trailer is not the player character. You probably won't have to play the "military guy" if you don't want to. I can't tell if the official premise sounds fun or makes me wince: And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with. Johnny Cash kicks ass, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG8V9dRqSsw
  19. I'm on it, even though Killzone Shadow Fall wasn't my favorite game. I'm convinced Aloy's voice belongs to Bridget Regan, from John Wick, Agent Carter, and Legend of the Seeker years ago. Here she plays Dottie the blonde Black Widow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtzl_QWSDng
  20. Great to see Agent Johnson, no, the other one, sing Frank Sinatra for A Capitol Fourth celebration on PBS. Wiped the floor with Barry Manilow anyway. Not nearly enough Marines tonight, but still a good show.
  21. I like this Phil Spencer guy, the new Xbox head. He recently praised Playstation boss Shuhei Yoshida for playing Bloodborne, a Sony exclusive. Shu has the Platinum Trophy for Bloodborne, btw
  22. Me too, though the backwards compatibility announcement from MS at E3 made letting go of the 360 easier. Still have the PS1, 2, and N64. The SNES disappeared.
  23. More than one hundred local craft brewers, half that many more planned, six times the number found in Berlin. The Stone Brewing guy is hilarious, philosophical, and amazingly in-touch. Six episodes in the series, all free on kpbs.org http://video.kpbs.org/video/2365490873/
  24. I was 6 for most of '79, memorizing incorrect state capital pronunciations, incorrectly associating the Confederate flag with geography. That is an important distinction, that the symbol didn't exist prior to 1861.
  25. I bought it because it was only $200 for a new system and two new games. *the trade-in promo is still active at GameStop, though the 'free game of choice with system purchase' from MS expired. The 500GB Halo bundle is $349, minus $150 for your old 120GB PS3 or 250GB Xbox 360.
