  1. I've run into this multiple times. One addition to what's mentioned here is that you can win the battle even if there is no battle taking place. I attacked a merchant ship and it didn't work. Combat music started like mentioned here and all that. After that I landed on Port Maje and got into a fight with a Wisp (about 45 minutes later) at the ruins and guess what? The naval combat resolved itself! (Screenshots attached) I guess the game assumed I boarded? It was the first fight after failed attack at sea and I did not reload in between the fights...
  2. As the title says, the 4th level wizard spell Essential Phantom is getting into melee range and punching enemies, dealing blunt damage to them. The spells description says that it should be dealing shock damage and from what I remember back in PoE1 it used to use a wand or something similar to stay at range. I've swapped Aloth's weapons to see if his default weapon was the reason but that didn't do anything. Hopefully it can be fixed.
  3. I agree with this bit especially. Casting Dire Blessing on party first thing in combat helps quite a bit with accuracy.
  4. I've got a bunch of different faction colors and was wondering... Does it matter which flag I use when attacking ships? Do flags have any impact on reputation with the attacked faction (like losing reputation attacking Vailian Trading Co ships with Watcher colors)? I know that a flag can be used early on for a quest and there may be more of those. What I'm curious about is the open world naval combat impact.
  5. Start on Veteran/Hard, then move to PotD after figuring out everything I need to optimize a party (including quest rewards etc). That's what I always do.
  6. That's how I got there yes, via boat. I'll load an earlier save and try that, thank you! Edit: Your workaround worked. Captain is talking as she should after the encounter!
  7. After getting the Sealed Fate quest, I found and opened the satchel. Discovering the details of what's to happen I tried to talk to Avetta about it but all she would say to me was "Stop him!" (Screenshot 1). Haven't talked to her before that moment. Tried talking to Degnos and tell him "[Leave] I'm not interested in your explanations" and the captain would still not talk to me. Since she asked me to stop him I tried killing Degnos but Avetta still kept saying "Stop him!" After talking to Degnos and choosing either solution (give items back/forget the plan), Avetta begins responding again saying our business is resolved (screenshot 3). Screenshot 2 shows the quest log in case it's useful.
  8. As the title says, the 4th level wizard spell Essential Phantom is getting into melee range and punching enemies, dealing blunt damage to them. I've swapped Aloth's weapons to see if his default weapon was the reason but that didn't do anything. Hopefully it can be fixed. Edit: Just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum. Is there a way to move it to PoE2 support forums?
  9. Something really strange happened at Delver's Row first visit today. I entered the place from Undercroft (after finding Undercroft through Old City) and started talking to the Thug that guards the walkway to Undercroft. This happened: This Pallegina cuts in? Asked much of me already? She isn't in the party! I haven't even met her! Only knew she was in the game cause of the loading screens and all. I hope this doesn't break any quests. There is something wrong here that I hope gets fixed soon.
  10. So far my rogue and cipher both use mechanics in the same way (sneaking too). Didn't come across any situation where being a rogue made things better. In fact my cipher is the main stealth and sleight of hand guy, while rogue is doing the lock picking and trap disarming.
  11. Won’t pistol work as well? Barrels explode when hit by firearms as well. Won’t carnage set them on fire as well? Pistols don't do AoE damage like Hand Mortar does. You can't accidentally shoot the barrel with them. :D Edit: Oh and my Serafen is pure cipher. He doesn't have carnage.
  12. They are useful. Just be careful if anyone on your team is using the Hand Mortar (*cough*Serafen*cough*) though. I was in the middle of a pretty good fight till one of the two enemies remaining decided to teleport towards my backline right before dying. There was a barrel next to us and well... Serafen shoots, barrel lights up, enemy and half my team blows up. It was a learning experience. Now he has a backup pistol just in case.
  13. I had the same problem for a while but it went away after resting on ship (world view) and giving everyone something to eat (think I gave them fresh fruit). Edit: Tried resting while on deck once and that didn't work though. Everyone is removed from the party while on deck, so maybe that's why rest didn't count then.
  14. I like the way it sounds but yea, they could have put multiple volume controls for that, like D:OS2 did, for people who aren't interested.
  15. Yea, and if you got a relatively squishy main character he gets nuked immediately. Happened to me when I boarded too.
  16. I'm seriously confused about the crew numbers listed in ship battles. Seeing a ship with 4/16 crew, I thought it might be nice to test the boarding function and see how it works expecting there to be 4 crew members on there. However there were more, about 3 times more. Here is the example: Pre-boarding, Pre-boarding, Boarded So... how does this work? Is 4/16 just the number of people running the ship and they could have a million hiding in cargo? Is 4/16 a guesstimate of the Navigator that gets better with more experience? I'm staying away from boarding at all costs now that I've seen what they could spring up on you. Any info on this would be helpful!
