What do you plan to use as your starting character?
HeedlessHorseman replied to Rajaat the Warbringer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I want to play a bard and barbarian multiclass, the bardbarian. (Well, I guess in this game it will be a chanter and barbarian multiclass, but that doesn't sound as good.) In all actuality, I will probably play either a wizard or a rogue.

Where should Endless Paths (the mega dungeon) draw its inspiration from?
HeedlessHorseman replied to IcarusSC's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I want it to be full of traps. (I like rogues.) I also want puzzles in it, rather than endless fighting. Basically, something like the Tomb of Horrors.

The Obsidian Order of Eternity wants YOU! part 5
HeedlessHorseman replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I agree. The fun going on in this thread was what made me join. Some of the other threads tend to stir up emotions too much.

damn, i just gave you guys more than 100 quid
HeedlessHorseman replied to newc0253's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I want it in pink too. Or done similarly to the Dragon Age Bisexuality logo. I am actually not joking when I say this. I think it would be wonderful if the forum badges looked like that. (Maybe mine could just look like it?)

The "Unofficial" P.E. Relationship/Romance thread
HeedlessHorseman replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think that I have come up with a magnanimous compromise. The main story of the game should be to get your character as well as all your companions married. That way romances won't get in the way of the main story, they will be it. For people who say romances are too easy, they should be made really hard. For example, the character who you are trying to romance will have really bad breath, so trying to kiss them will result in a fortitude check not to pass out. I am not forgetting people who want sex in the game. As there was a D&D 3rd edition book that had rules for sex, the rules for your character having sex just need to be expanded upon.

Live recorded music, Poll 2.0
You wouldn't be the only one I'm glad to hear that. That should be that game's theme song. I think it would be worth doing that solely for the outrage that would erupt.

The Obsidian Order of Eternity wants YOU! part 5
HeedlessHorseman replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't think white chocolate is chaotic neutral... its very lawful evil in my book...I mean seriously, theres no chocolate left in the product, just cocoa butter... So those evil marketing people stretched the truth, saying "Well since cocoa butter is a part of chocolate, we will call this "White Chocolate" Muahahahahaah!!*" *Evil laugh added for dramatic effect :D I don't think that any chocolate is evil. Except artificial chocolate, that is just an abomination. Since chocolate is good, then the alignments for chocolate must be good. Dark Chocolate: Lawful Good Milk Chocolate: Neutral Good White Chocolate : Chaotic Good

[Merged] Women, Feminism, etc. in PE
HeedlessHorseman replied to Chabneruk's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I like how this site has emoticons that sum up this thread wonderfully: I think that instead of misogyny in this game, there should be chauvinism. (Yes, I do feel like being pedantic.)

Live recorded music, Poll 2.0
After carefully considering this issue for the last couple of days, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that the perfect music for this game would be old-school gangsta rap.

What will be the final name of the game ?
HeedlessHorseman replied to Kynareth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I just realized that if the title keeps the acronym PE, then for the first time, I can say that geeks love PE.

Last stretch goal reached ; Cats
HeedlessHorseman replied to The Mist Devil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I misread what you said the first time and thought you said a chowder of cats. So I was imagining that, instead of healing potions, there would be cat chowder. Coincidentally, I remember reading somewhere that cats are generally eaten in soups.

Romance and friendship?
HeedlessHorseman replied to Krikkert's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I guess that I just take video games less seriously than other people here. So, I think it would be funny if the game had awfully cheesy romance lines. Like: "Will you help me sheath my sword?"

Music, one of the most important issues?
HeedlessHorseman replied to a post in a topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I would also like to thank him. I hope that game will reach 4 million. Live instrumentation will add something to the score that couldn't otherwise be attained.

Romance and friendship?
HeedlessHorseman replied to Krikkert's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Is this really that absolute? Roleplaying doesn't intrinsically mean that people roleplay themselves. They roleplay a character with a distinct personality which isn't their own. Where exactly is identifying yourself with the character comes in? For a lot of players, they seriously do play themselves in the game world... or project themselves onto the character. It's not how I see role-playing, but many, many people DO see it this way. I guess that it more or less reverts back to the old stereotype of gamers as people who are not happy with their lives. So they need to escape into a fantasy world to feel any sense of accomplishment.

Let's party with Obsidian like it's 1999
My time on these forums will diminish from several times a day to maybe once a week or less. As I think that these forums will quiet down. Just look at how quiet the Wasteland 2 forums are now.

D&D Session with the Developers - Discussion Thread
What I forgot, as I haven't played D&D for a while, is that it sounds like more fun than it actually is.

500$ Reward - Memorial Stone
HeedlessHorseman replied to Fluffle's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I wonder how people around here knows the epic fight between Eric and the Dread Gazebo? I know about the Dread Gazebo, but how many people here know about the Gong? I haven't heard that one. Another fun D&D story is the Head of Vecna

Are you for or against gaining experience points only for completing objectives?
I like this experience system. This makes playing a stealth- or persuasion-based character as viable as a combat character. Also, I enjoyed the Neverwinter Nights modules the used a similar system. Another reason that I like it is that it reminds me of the D&D games that I used to play. Experience tended to be awarded at the end of the session. I posted this in the other thread. It is two possible ways of how an objective-based system could play out:
-
Update #24: Less than 30 Hours to go! Life and Death, and Audio CD Soundtrack!
These are just two ways that I could see an objective-based experience system playing out. I will use an example of rescuing a villager from goblins. (For this example I am not going to consider options like siding with the goblins or killing both the goblins and the villager.) Objective-based – No Experience from Killing You can have a full assault or can sneak in and rescue the villager without any of the goblins noticing. You will get the same amount of experience either way at the end of the quest. Objective-based – Experience from Killing Each quest will have a set amount of experience awarded. I will use 1000 points for this example. For the direct approach- killing each goblins will award some experience. If there are 4 goblins, each will award 200 experience points. Returning the villager will award the remaining 200 experience points. For sneaking- getting the villager out of the camp without the goblins noticing will award 800 experience points and the final 200 will be for the villager reaching the village.

Update #24: Less than 30 Hours to go! Life and Death, and Audio CD Soundtrack!
You basically described a typical sandbox RPG, then proceeded to claim that you "hate sandboxes". I...don't know what to say to that. I'd better get out of this thread before I get warned by one of the mods. He actually said he hates "sanboxes like Skyrim." People don't call that game a "hiking simulator" for nothing.

Discussion on thief class, could they do more in PE
HeedlessHorseman replied to bronzepoem's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I always wanted to do that, but I don't remember any game with this feature((( There was definitely a game which let you do this, I can't remember what it was though. In Neverwinter Nights, modders added the ability to lock doors.

Go easy on the jargon
HeedlessHorseman replied to StreetBushido's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think this game should use made-up words as frequently as A Clockwork Orange. I didn't find the Elder Scroll's terms that hard to figure out. I started the series at Oblivion, but I don't think entering at Skyrim would be that much different. I mean, the Nine (Divines) are prayed to, so they must be gods. The Daedra are basically demons, and so on.

Length of the Game
HeedlessHorseman replied to firstarioch's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Didnt play it ,,,But I advise everyone here to play Divinty 2 Ego Draconis ....Long ...amazing ... meaningful...gives warm feeling etc... And IGN as usual gave it 6.5 which means its great as their reviewers have attention span of a 5 year old and if its not Gears of War its not good.... That was a fun game. You get to play a dragon (By the way, GOG.com is currently having a sale on it.)
