I get the impression that they are being facetious. The overuse of the term “old-school” started to make me think this. Then the descriptions of the $10,000 pledges made me certain:

It would make me deliriously happy if there were playable flumphs. And, of course, my flumph wold be a paladin.

I basically agree with this. If there are children in the game, they should be killable, just like everyone else. Otherwise, I don't want children in it. This is because I don't like invincible NPCs. As to the topic at large, I am most likely going to add the beta access option to my pledge. Or, I might move to the $110 level.
