game def looked much more polished than some other videos I've seen in the bb even though it was just char creation. The Elves looked way nicer, and his lil dwark with scimitar and dagger looked very intimidating. sounded like only one guy beat the game by going as fast as he could on main path in 30 hrs. Good to know, if you hit one on the keyboard you can skip through dialogs quicker to go on and adventure! as far as his time midnight is currently 3.5 hrs from now. or 7am GMT

@Sensuki & Other Vets - Request for latest impressions
Falkon Swiftblade replied to Koth's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I was wondering how the VO for the PC turned out? I was watching the bb 480 with Ash on the RPG shack and someone in his party sounds like Batman when he talks. Not sure if that was intentional. Maybe it works, but I was kinda removed from immersion. -
General Understanding of Stat Spread
Falkon Swiftblade replied to Styger's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Just in case it's not in the manual, if folks have a good understanding of the stats can someone create a couple of test characters on the beta and highlight how the #'s scale like the old BG guide showed you such as this table? -
Day 1 patch release
Falkon Swiftblade replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm pretty sure they just finished up the day one patch yesterday, and have stated that they will have more coming down the line. -
My original post asking for the 96 was to accommodate small screens and large screens alike. 72 is an average range based upon the distance you are from something 2.5 ft away. At 6 ft or more that # isn't so much about 720p or 1080p as it is the size of the actual screen itself. My cellphone screen looks way nicer than my monitor that shows 1920x1200 and is 10bit color (colors in the billions) it looks nicer because the screen is smaller and it's closer to my face. Even regular images like the one's shared by obsidian on the fb page look better on my phone than computer. If I look at my phone at 2 ft and my monitor at 2 ft it still looks better on my smaller screen because the more detailed dpi.

Those are the standards on high end expensive pc monitors. Too bad most media and gaming by a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG shot is displayed on a 1920x1080 television screen or a non cutting edge pc monitor. I linked this above, but for emphasis... (note ppi and dpi= pixels per inch vs dots per inch. dots is more of a printing term, but basically same thing.)

Deciding on a starting character.
Falkon Swiftblade replied to wanderon's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Question, based upon the wiki there's someone here in this image that I don't recognize next to Aloth, would that be the human male priest? minor nevermind LOL I didn't look down enough! i guess it is! -
Deciding on a starting character.
Falkon Swiftblade replied to wanderon's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Hey, where can I find out who or what the companions will be? Are there really no Monk Companions? I think that's what I'm gonna play, and if they tweak ranger class in the first patch I may try them as well. I kind of wish I could have 2 pets at any one time to call upon the fight that came running from the wilderness and maybe they only stay for an encounter or a more powerful pet summon a few times per rest. -
Is the 2nd part of the documentary the whole thing? I was expecting something that was a lot longer, almost a feature length thing, like maybe an hour? Can someone let us know if the thing we saw is a teaser? Next week is going to have so much to talk about, the streams, the release of the digital goodies, the documentary, the launch event on wed night, etc...

[480] Issue/Bug with Caged Cursor
Falkon Swiftblade replied to Sensuki's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
what does caged cursor do? I'm unfamiliar with that term and I don't recall it ever being in a game I've played? -
Well it's also depends on the viewing distance your eyes are from the screen to be optimized. Here's a techy explanation that kinda breaks it down. Since some folks play on small screens and 2k or 4k screens, or bigger 60-72 inch screens that's primarily why i made my original post so it could scale in size comfortably. http://wolfcrow.com/blog/notes-by-dr-optoglass-the-resolution-of-the-human-eye/

Pretty sure the game source images themselves are 72ppi. I get a bad feeling if I try to screw with that it may mess with the scaling and thus cause an issue in game. I will talk to bester about it but don't get your hopes up. if it's a fixed resolution it won't mess anything up. 72 is standard for monitor resolution, but that's from like 1995. Now a days screens are in 2k or 4k and cell phone screens are even 600dpi, but as long as ya keep em fixed at the specific sizes the higher dpi only makes them look sharper, especially if it scales up or down.

We've heard a few times from the dev's how hard it would be to create new art assets specifically for the environment, but I wondered if it would be possible to access the texture maps or any of the art assets to modify them in a way to enhance them more? Specifically if I wanted to do paint over's of any area or make shadows on clothing or character assets pop more. Or maybe I want to make blood stains on a weapon instead of them looking shiny for example. Could I gain access to those files? I have a few ideas for things to do to make environment's gain the extra bit of detail that the art team may not have had time to do and I don't know how open the tech will be so we can mod those, or maybe create our own textures for new armor sets or weapons?

I am working on more resolutions right now while also trying to find a texture for the party border sensuki likes. 1440x900 for example is ready for full support as we speak. 1920x1200 is one of the resolutions I am going to try to get in as well. If it works how I think 1920x1200 is just going to be a upscale of the 1920x1080 textures anyway. that should be uber easy to do, just go to canvas size in ps and change the desired output size. Might wanna make sure it's at 96 dpi for retina displays on all of the versions.

good job bro, thx for sharing.
