  1. Why would it? Conspiracy theories for financial dip****s packaged in XTREME 90's edgelordism seems like a fairly unique grift.
  2. Blade Runner isn't a slice of life? Who among us hasn't seen a guy die on a rooftop after lamenting the things he's seen disappearing?
  3. Should have pulled yourself up by the bootstraps and erased time. Maybe it will drive him insane and bring forth the anti-universe? That's probably healthier than the imaginary Star Trek.
  4. What a coincidence. I think both Alien and Magnetic Rose are essentially haunted house in space. They're different in many ways, obviously, but that's the commonality I thought of when watching it. And it fits very well, you have a crew that stumbles into a derelict structure and encounters...something. I do like the whole dark/moody/oppressive sci-fi, especially horror sci-fi, but I also prefer stuff that is absurdist or just plain ****ing weird. Frankly too much sci-fi, particularly near future stuff, never gets as weird or dumb as real life.
  5. Well I feel slightly better about not searching now. I don't say this lightly, but Magnetic Rose is probably the closest thing to recreating the sci-fi horror of Alien. It's very well layered and ends on the perfect note. It very much creeped me out, I'm going to try and find the rest of Memories. I've been watching a ton of anime and will be trying to get my film backlog cut down, so for the near future I'm going to be mostly watching movies for anime.
  6. Finished GioGio Golden Wind. ****ing great. Also watched Magnetic Rose, a short film part of Memories (1995). Pretty much a space ghost story, very good one and done that makes good use of every minute. @Bartimaeus will probably like it.
  7. Well, in part 2 of JoJo an expert in hamon (basically a magic martial art thing that exploded vampires) lived there, so maybe not from 1920-1940 or so. But Venezia would be a cool place to live regardless. Unless you were something damaged by water, like the God emperor worm in Dune. But that would be something ****ty to be anyway, what kind of **** wants to turn into a worm?
  8. Rona watch: Golden Wind. The gang gets to Venezia, leaves Venezia, gets attacked on a plane (basically every kind of transportation has been attacked this season), gets attacked on Sardinia, then heads fo Rome and gets attacked there. Polnareff also returns. I am loving it.
  9. I think I'm through the worst of the rona, but the temperature dropped hard so I'm a bit clogged up. Boy am I happy it didn't get too bad.
  10. If you have to ask, the answer is probably not what you want to hear. So I guess this is the best place to ask as any, but is there a German word for "Disappointed but not Surprised"? Because that's the general feeling everytime I hear some bull**** like "virtuesignomics". By some miracle I have avoided hearing any political rants when waiting in line at the grocery store. Maybe I've unknowingly mastered the art of minding my own business that I instinctively tune out such nonsense. Lord knows that there are plenty of folks around here who think that any inconveniences to them are a plot by Sleepy Joe to destroy western civilization with virtuesignomics or some other ridiculous fantasy.
  11. Ok, there's a lot here I'd like to respond to but I'm at the rona stage where I'm having trouble focusing. Plus I'm on my phone. Maybe I'll try later. Anyways, I've never had to wear glasses before but might soon. I recently failed a vision test because my left eye is blurry. I wonder if it's maybe due to the rona, because I did not even notice an issue before I took the test. Of course it could be an ongoing thing, but who usually walks around testing their eyes individually? Still, I hope I don't cone across as one of those geek chic folks. I'll try! Anyways....I watched a ton of GioGio’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. The gang goes to Capri then ends on on a road trip to Venezia where they crash several vehicles on the way, because even when JoJo is also DIO taking transportation ends badly. This is just great. Golden Wind represents the fall of gym gods and the rise of the twink in Araki's art style, but what really stands out is the use of eye popping color palates. The stands manage to take the urgency of Stardust Crusaders and merge it with the insanity of Diamond is Unbreakable for a ride that feels fast paced and high stakes while also very ****ing weird. There's been a couple scenes that could fall under fan service, but it feels more like Polnareff's buffonery than that.
  12. I guess you'll be back in time for AoT and Stone Ocean. If you feel like coming back early or need help with a game, feel free to give a ring on the frog. This is a bit much to respond to and I don't think a meme or aping our beloved fascist would be appropriate, so I'll just say thanks that was interesting to read. .... .... .... .... Ok just a few things, no read @Bartimaeus !
  13. It could be a lot of things, some much less flattering than others. "Not the target audience of stuff for teenage boys" is probably the most descriptive of you. But seriously you don't like giant swords? Do you want to make Guts cry? Shame on you Sue, this guy has had it really bad.
  14. There's a sizeable big tiddy obsession worldwide that seems to cut across cultural lines and permeates different media and subculture. I can see an argument for anime/manga that big ol tiddies make it easier to distinguish a character as being a woman, considering that faces can often be drawn similarly. Another is that in a medium that allows and encourages exaggeration, and as such making large breasts is not much different than giant swords or gym gods. Regardless anime isn't alone in this, superhero comics are often notorious for comically (OH MY GOD! A dumb pun!) exaggerated figures. So who is to say whether this is exaggeration in a medium known for it or because Japan considers large breasts especially attractive? It could be both to various degrees. Uh, I almost typed a few paragraphs about NSFW stuff. Somehow I had the sense to stop when it went into pondering about the Freudian aspect of expecting/desiring women in more matronly roles to have more ample bosoms. Okie dokie, time to talk abouts something else. GioGio Golden Wind: The Gang Takes a Boat Ride. If JoJo is consistent about one thing, it is the danger of vehicles when vampires or stand users are around.
  15. The brain hole is a result of reality collapsing. Come on Bart, the universe is going to end anyways so it doesn't matter if you hasten it by trying to rip holes in reality. Bill Gates wants you to avoid destroying reality so he can force you into becoming his thrall and using your soul to ascend to divinity where he will rule over the Milky Way as a God Emperor. Wake Up!
  16. Some of these anime titles are wild and while the content may not be great it's charming in a way. Pathetic, these ladies need to learn the art of posing from real gym gods. Wrong, the winning move is to play them together and watch as they rip a hole through the fabric of reality.
