  1. My biggest criticism of Telltale is that they never evolved their formula, they just reskinned it for another IP. It took a different studio, Big Bad Wolf, to move the narrative adventure genre forward. I don't necessarily want Dramatic Labs to copy The Council, but just another Telltale game ain't gonna cut it, it needs to be more than that.
  2. That's the whole reason I'm interested. It's essentially the same processor but with waaaaaay more cache. Lisa Su is obviously going to talk up the increase in cache like it's a revolutionary advance, which is probably bollocks. I'm curious to see how much difference roughly 65 MB of extra cache makes. Whenever we've had increases in cache before they've generally been small (e.g. 10 MB to 12 MB) and accompanied by other changes (e.g. process node, DDR generation, etc.), so it was tough to get a feel for how much difference the cache increase made. Now we have a nearly 200% increase in cache with basically no other changes. This is a unique opportunity to see how much difference cache really makes.
  3. I'll be curious to see how the 5800X3D performs once independent benchmarks are out. It's otherwise the same exact processor as the 5800X but the amount of cache is MASSIVE. Certain applications will absolutely take advantage of that and perform much better. Will games be among them? In theory, yes, but we won't know for sure until independently tested.
  4. From former Telltale devs: It can't possibly be worse than what Kurtzman Goldsman & Co. have done with Star Trek.
  5. Zelda: Fox Edition out tomorrow.
  6. Scott Hall sits near the top of the list of best wrestlers to never be world champion. He had everything, the size, the look, the promo skills, and enough in-ring ability. However, he also had a long, well documented history of substance abuse, which is probably why he was never trusted to be THE MAN in any company. Still, him showing up on Nitro unannounced clad in denim kicked off rasslin's most successful period. I'm really sad to hear of his passing.
  7. Yeah, if you are unable or unwilling to get a gamepad, that, more or less, disqualifies you from playing certain games. A gamepad is the best input device for a rather sizeable chunk of games. Most of these are still perfectly playable with m&kb, but there are games that just not designed for that interface. For example, pretty much any racing game is going to be awesome with a proper wheel & pedal setup, great with a gamepad, and bad at best with m&kb. It goes the other way, of course. RTS is great with m&kb. I can't imagine how horrible RTS would be with a gamepad, or a wheel for that matter.
  8. What season was this? Season 1 had a number of episodes that felt TOS-esque.
  9. Big mistake on their part. Cyber-llamas would do gangbusters business.
  10. I bought a xXxBOxXx (these things are still quite hard to get at MSRP even nearly a year and a half after launch), I don't have it yet, but it should arrive by next weekend. This will be my first Microsoft console. Obviously, I need something to play on it (back in the day consoles used to come with a game included, I don't think they do any more), so I ordered Forza Horizon 5 and Elex 2.
  11. Brisco County - EP5 Brisco in Jalisco Brisco and Socrates journey down to Mexico seeking a stolen shipment of guns. This episode features the return of Dixie Cousins, as well as my boy Pete. Despite a hint that Bly might be involved, this wound up being a side quest episode. Interestingly, they explain why Pete is alive here (gut shot), which makes me wonder if this was originally intended to air before EP2. They also very much ship Brisco and Dixie, something that could have potentially blossomed in later seasons. Alas, we'll never know. This was the least comedic episode so far and the first without Bowler. Still, it was a thoroughly enjoyable adventure and any episode with my boy Pete is alright in my book.
  12. 2 months to release.
  13. Adaptation was 20 years ago, but yes, it's one of his better movies post-Con Air (which is what I consider the end of his "golden era"). I'll add Mandy as a more recent good movie he's done. The National Treasure movies were also a decently fun watch, though I wouldn't go so far as to call them good.
  14. On the one hand, the vast majority of Nic Cage movies over the last 10 years where he's crazy, wacky Nic Cage have been utter dog feces and far and away his best movie during that period, Pig, had him doing a serious, emotional performance. On the other hand, this looks like a proper Hollywood production and not a Redbox movie. The trailer does make it look fun.
  15. When you are the world's greatest hacker exposing the elite's dirty secrets, you don't have time to stop to eat your can of tuna. Neil has at least 3 cell phones and 4 non-working laptops with him at all times.
  16. Pete Hutter is my favorite character overall, just a delightful comedy villain, but he doesn't appear in every episode. Lord Bowler is my favorite series regular.
  17. Brisco County - EP4 No Man's Land Brisco tracks a family of violent outlaws while Bowler is tasked with stopping a tank mobile battle wagon. The two stories converge in a town populated entirely by women. This is a self-contained side quest episode with a guest appearance from Denise Crosby as the town's sheriff. The focus is on Brisco, Bowler, and Professor Wickwire. This was the weakest episode of the show so far IMHO, but it was still decently entertaining. As much as I love Bruce Campbell, and I do, Lord Bowler is rapidly becoming my favorite character on the protagonists side. Julius "Sho'Nuff" Carry is terrific.
  18. They didn't COMPLETELY hate the first episode. Massive emphasis on "completely". They still spent 80% of the show burying Picard. I thought it was interesting that, for once, it was Rich dragging Mike back to torture him and not the other way around.
  19. My schedule is all over the place, but if I can help it I like to get up around 2 AM and be on the road by 3:30 AM.
  20. Muh Boys are probably not going to pay Amari Cooper, but we're deep enough at WR that losing Coop shouldn't cause any panic. We need to address the offensive line which isn't what it once was. I don't know if Kenyon Green is somehow still on the board at #24, but if he is that should be a no-brainer pick.
  21. I'm back on a carnivore-ish diet, less strict than last time. Fruits and veggies are allowed, but I plan to eat them sparingly. All big carb sources like potatoes, bread, rice, and pasta are strictly forbidden. I had coffee and plain Greek yogurt for breakfast. I snacked on zero sugar beef jerky while driving. I ate a pear before working out then had some bacon and string cheese after. Good times!
  22. I went to the Thirsty Beaver: It's a little 75 year old bar in downtown Charlotte that looks completely out of place among the big, modern buildings surrounding it. It's super trashy, there are bras hanging everywhere: My kind of place, my kind of people.
  23. They're not for everybody. They're not my jam, but I do recognize that they're really well made games. It's worth checking one of them out to find out if they're up your alley because they're top quality.
  24. Brisco County - EP 3 The Orb Scholar Brisco gets a lead on John Bly's whereabouts that has him crossing paths with an old acquaintance. Along the way he meets an old man who has been studying the orb. This is a main story arc episode that heavily features Lord Bowler and John Bly. Bowler is great here and comes off as much more of a friend than a rival to Brisco. Bly is deliciously evil, Billy Drago really shines in this role. There's a great contrast between the bumbling comedy of Pete (who is sadly not in this episode) and the smooth talking devious evil of Bly as the show's 2 main reoccurring villains. We also get a pre-medical hologram guest appearance from the always delightful Robert Picardo as a corrupt deputy. It's been nearly 30 years, but if I recall correctly, the main story focused episodes tended to be more serious in tone, supernatural shenanigans aside, while the self-contained side quest episodes tended to be more comedic.
  25. Cats are not merchandise, they're your owners.
