  1. Roaming around Ticaragua in Risen 2. The graphical mods aren't a huge change, but you can definitely notice the higher res textures when the camera shows a close up of a wall or a door, and the speedtree draw distance mod makes the pop-in significantly less jarring. Risen 2 really is a pretty game. Don't get me wrong, it's not Metro: Last Light or The Witcher 2, but it's visually pleasing nonetheless. The character models aren't the greatest, particularly with all the armor/clothing clipping and the nappy plastic hair, though they do get bonus points for Patty showing off camel toe, but the landscape/scenery is gorgeous. The lush tropical islands of the Risen series are definitely more pleasing to the eye than the landscapes of the Gothic series. Even with this not being Piranha Bytes best effort, it's still an enjoyable game. A lot of RPG developers with much larger budgets could stand to learn a thing or two from this German developer.
  2. The most noteworthy thing about Daikatana was that after all of John Romero's boasting it flopped harder than an Italian footballer. It wasn't as bad as the press made it out to be, but it wasn't anything special either.
  3. So, no real chance of playing that non-violent? That was my real hope for GTA Online, being able to play a non-criminal, and just cruise around with people on bikes, or play golf with people, or whatever, and stay away from murder-fest 2013. If it's all just people shooting each other, I have zero interest in it. Of course, as long as there's no PC version, it's all a moot point anyway. You can play non-violent, I just don't see anything to do. I wanted to do co-op or stuff. But all the missions are deathmatch, race, or objective where you're still shooting at each other. There's supposed to be tennis and golf, but I'm not sure if that unlocks later, it's not showing on my map. And again there's racing, but I don't care for that at all. I wanted to do heists and car chases. I wanted to assault gang turf, take on the military base, or other criminally co-op things. But nope... deathmatch or race. Early days young grasshopper, early days. Give Rockstar time to add meaningful content outside of killing people. They have just finished one of the largest and successful single player games in history. Allow the poor Dev's a little break There is no PC version (yet?), therefore they don't get a break. Get back to work and crank me out a PC version, you lazy bastards!
  4. That it will. Chances are, win or lose, I'm going to wind up drunk.
  5. Brown can suggest root beer. Root beer rocks! Brown can > red can.
  6. Hmm. So Lester vs. Moore, then Lackey vs. Price. I like our chances on Friday, not so much on Saturday.
  7. Sports games, racing/driving games, platformers, there are plenty of games where a controller is a superior tool to m&kb. I love my 360 controller. I also love my flightstick. While m&kb is certainly superior for many games, it's not the holy of holies some make it out to be.
  8. Is he a good enough shooter to play the 2?

  10. So far so good with the modded Risen 2. The majority of the mods I installed are graphical in nature: Improvements to dynamic lighting, higher res textures, greater distance for high quality speedtree, and such. I figured I was nearly pushing the limit of my lappy with the vanilla game maxed out, so I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to use the mods and still use max settings, but so far it's chugging along nicely. The true test will be once I get to a big open area with lots of people and foliage and buildings to draw at the same time. I also got the unofficial patch, that fixes most of the few remaining bugs and snafus. Sadly, there is no patch to remove the ridiculous over the top gesturing by characters during conversations. I'm used to it from previous Piranha Bytes games, but it is rather silly looking. I'd say that it was a Eastern European thing, as the god awful Two Worlds games do the same thing, but CD Projekt Red seems to have no problem making characters look and act natural during conversation rather than making them wave their arms frantically like they're on fire and trying to put themselves out. There was a gun rebalancing mod that looked promising, but I didn't bother with it since I plan to go voodoo anyway. I'm not sure if that mod would extend to firearm wielding NPCs.
  11. So the Rays won and move on to face the Sawx starting Friday. Despite the fact that the Sawx have owned the Rays this year, they still scare the **** out of me, mainly because their pitching staff is always capable of going lights out for an entire series, especially a 5 game series. In theory, the Sawx should hold the edge. They can match pitching with Tampa, though I'd give the edge to the Rays just slightly, and are just as fast and crafty on the base paths, so they can play small ball pretty much just as well. Where the Sawx have the edge is power and explosiveness. The Sawx lineup is simply a scarier bunch to face top to bottom, and it's filled with disciplined, professional hitters that can not only mash it, they can grind out long at-bats to drive up the pitch count. The Sawx rotation will go as follows: Game 1 - Lester Game 2 - Lackey Game 3 - Buchholz Game 4 (if necessary) - Peavey Game 5 (if necessary) - Lester Who will the Rays have pitch on Friday? Will they throw Price out there on short rest?
  12. Over/under until LadyC gives in and gets the black cat pet - 1.5 days I'm in the process of downloading a bunch of mods for Risen 2 via the Risen 2 Mod Starter, then I'm going to start a new game and get my voodoo on.
  13. Semper Paratus
  14. Technically, this still falls under the umbrella of bestiality, right?
  15. With a decent push in the final 48 hours, I think it will make the 700k Costume Swap stretch goal. If they leave PayPal open long enough, the 800k stretch goal could happen too, Hero Mode at 900k seems unlikely, but I suppose there's always a chance.
  16. When I first read "Deus Ex: Universe" I instantly thought they were making a MMO. My reaction was: Then I read further and my reaction was:
  17. I liked the game, it was pretty fun. Beyond the graphics, which are pretty decent, it's a budget title through and through, but I found it well worth my time. I finished the first act of Might & Magic X, and thus the portion of the game available at the moment. I definitely had fun and am looking forward to the upcoming patch that will introduce some new classes. I'll play on the harder difficulty level once the patch arrives and I make a new party. On standard difficulty the game was pretty easy, save for the lighthouse, which had some tough enemies, but was still not too bad provided you had plenty of potions.
  18. Final total for Mighty No. 9 - $3,845,170 Plus PayPal - currently $186,380 All stretch goals met.
  19. This class sounds really interesting. I'm not sure it will be my first character, but I definitely want to roll one of these up sometime, or hire a Cipher companion.
  20. You just don't get it. I don't get it either. Same here. Is there anything more about this? Right now I can't even see if this is a game or not. Something something future, something something malevolent AI is what I got out of that video, hence my thinking that this will be System Shock-esque.
  21. **** yes! Optional chiptune soundrack & sfx stretch goal reached for Mighty No. 9! Everything from this point on is gravy as far as I'm concerned.
  22. Valve trademarks Half-Life 3 It would be hilarious if this was just GabeN trolling everybody.
  23. 3DS and Vita without paypal right now (how do you even find out how much they've gotten through paypal?) But why 3DS, you don't have any other platforms it's coming out for? Seems like you're going to be missing out on the proper experience with that puny 240p screen, and I doubt it's going to have any real 3DS-specific features (development started for PCs, home TV consoles were the ultimate nostalgia goal.) The PayPal is listed right on the front page, near the top. I'll play it on my PC, but I'll also play it on my 3DS (I'll get another copy). That kind of game is perfect for playing in bite-sized bits on the go. I don't care if they don't 3D-ify it (though I wouldn't mind).
  24. SOMA = System Shock 3?
  25. Bravery Default trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEOcMXcsojI Yet another awesome looking game to play on my mighty little portable from Big N. This game harkens back to a time when Final Fantasy games were still charming and fun, and Square was still Square and had not yet been gobbled up by Squeenix and had the soul sucked out of it. I'll be playing the **** out of this next year.
