  1. No. It's a throw back to the series roots, it's a lot more like Resi 1 & 2. Slow pacing, claustrophobic spaces, mounting tension, just without the horrific camera and controls of the old Resi games.
  2. Yes you can. I know because I turned it off. I also turned off aim assist. They added the options in a patch: http://store.steampowered.com/news/10683/
  3. There be some evil residents that be revealing themselves to me
  4. Started up a game of Resident Evil Revelations. I already knew it was a great game, I have it on 3DS also, and it's my favorite 3DS game and favorite Resi game, my only concern was how would the controls translate to the PC. So far so good. The controls feel responsive and intuitive. They did a good job, for the most part, upscaling the models and textures from a 400X200 pixel screen to HD sizes, though there are occasions where there will be a horribly low res looking texture really clashing with the nice HD models and textures around it. So far this mostly seems to happen in cutscenes. Anyway, I'll mostly give this a rest for now, I just wanted to see how the game controlled. Gonna jump back into Risen 2 and finish that up before I dive headlong into Resi Revelations.
  5. Ironically, it's a game that was almost immediately forgotten about after it came out. I haven't played it, but I remember the reviews were decidedly lukewarm on it. I think the consensus was great backdrop, mediocre gameplay.
  6. I see no Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3. My bad.
  7. Hyper Light Drifter is stopping its kick in about an hour.
  8. Yeah, that's right, I'm about to quote myself. That's how I roll. I'm glad I waited. All the Resi games are 75% off today, including Revelations. /pulls trigger
  9. I imagine it leads to a jailed/death screen in some sort of Sierra-esque amusing fashion. The famous Sierra deaths were definitely divisive, but I, for one, enjoyed them immensely.
  10. I know some people are going to be critical of it, but I think it looks absolutely charming. I'm excited, this is the only kickstarter other than PE that I pledged a good chunk of change to. Yeah, the graphics aren't exactly bleeding edge, but I never expected them to be. All I want out of this game is for it to have the humor and charm of QfG. QfG was such an amazing series. I got hundreds of hours of just plain fun with those games.
  11. I didn't get to see it finish. I stayed up until the 12th, then tiredness took over. Had it been a Sawx game, I would have kept myself awake to see it to the end. I'd be quite happy to see the Dodgers and Cards go extra innings in every single game of the series, plus go 7. Tire yourselves out fellas.
  12. Hero-U Teaser Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRKycVbHce4&feature=youtu.be Note: The animation is stand-in, they're working on improving it. It definitely looks a good bit like Hero's Quest/Quest For Glory.
  13. Risen 2 - I arrived at Antigua to find out Admiral Alvarez, the man who founded and runs this settlement, has put up a trade embargo, meaning neither I, nor anyone else, can buy supplies... not the traditional way, anyway. I met up with Captain Slayne, who owns one of the artifacts I need. He agreed to take me to it, but he can't leave the port without supplies. I see where this is going. Anyway, time to explore the island and see who and what else is around here. Plenty of beasties out in the jungle and on the beaches for me to deal with. Luckily, I've gotten powerful enough that I don't have to avoid certain areas any more. That doesn't mean that I can be reckless and allow myself to get swarmed, but I can confidently fight most enemies now and win as long as I don't get stupid. Eventually I ran into my old buddy, the druid Eldric. Seems he's got a bit of a gargoyle problem. I see where this is going. Gargoyles are capable of dishing out massive amounts of damage quickly, but can be relatively easily beaten if you know their patters and don't get "greedy" (get in a power attack and one more slash, then roll out of there before the gargoyle retaliates, don't try to get in an extra slash or two). The main thing is getting them one on one. Fighting two or more at a time tends to be detrimental to my health. After dealing with the gargoyles, Eldric agreed to come aboard my ship. He's helped me in the past, so its good to have him with me. He's looking for some place called the Air Temple. I have a good idea of where it is, but before I do that I'm going to make a run back to Tacarigua to get rum for the tavern keeper here in Antigua, then back to the Sword Coast to get some more voodoo training. With enough skill, voodoo curses can be rather useful, turning a tough enemy into a push over, but they use up curse dolls, so I barely use them. Still, it's a useful thing to know, especially once I learn the most powerful curse, for fights with really tough enemies. Like all voodoo spells, curses have the distinct disadvantage of taking a really long time to cast, so it's best to use them as you're approaching an enemy and they're still far enough away that you can get the curse cast before they get to you and disrupt the spell. Let's go see if this Air Temple is where I think it is...

  15. Agreed. I'll be willing to plunk down five smackers if they either extracted the boss fights from the game (then tossed them in a dumpster and lit them on fire) or redid them so they're not horrific. Edit: Okay, I read in the article: I want to see what these "improvements" are exactly. The boss fight in Missing Link was fairly good, so I know they can do a good boss fight from scratch, but I wonder if they can salvage the garbage that they outsourced for the main game.
  16. Yeah. Makes me happy the Sawx won't have to see him in game 1 or game 2. They almost certainly won't have to see Scherzer in game 1 either. But the Sawx will likely face both twice if it goes seven, and Sanchez is no slouch. Sanchex vs Lester Still better than the prospect of having to face either Scherzer or Verlander 3 times, which is impossible now since it would require one of them to start game 1 (then pitch game 4 then game 7). Conversely, the Sawx could potentially pitch Lester 3 times, if they chose to do so. The best thing about the Sawx is that they have no real weakness. While they're not as top heavy in starting pitching as the Tigers, all 4 of their postseason starters will keep you in the game. Their middle relief is very good and they have a lights out closer. The lineup has plenty of power and a good bit of speed, plus it's loaded with disciplined hitters. Also, their defense is very good. There is really nothing for an opposing team to exploit.
  17. As opposed to Amnesia, we never see the protagonist's hands, or any part of them, for that matter. I'm sure that's on purpose. I guess there will be the question of are you man or are you machine, and what is the boundary between man and machine? Is there one?
  18. SOMA gameplay footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5iRmZPQ3VA#t=159 Now that looks freakin' awesome!
  19. The butthurt nerdrage on that page is terrific. My favorite ones, and this happens with every single review ever in the history of video game reviewing, are "Website X have it score Y, how the hell are you giving it score Z!?" Because reviewers on completely different sites are not allowed to have different opinions and give different scores.
  20. We Muricans infected Japan (and the rest of the world) with greasy fast food, now Japan does it better than us. http://rocketnews24.com/2013/08/28/363013/ I'm about to have a heart attack just from looking at that.
  21. How has that been? I'm feeling the need to play something old-school right now. It's Might & Magic, it really does feel like old school, turn-based Might & Magic. I like it quite a bit. Keep in mind, though, that the game is in an alpha state right now.
  22. Eli threw 3 more picks and the Giants are now 0-6. Eli now has 15 interceptions on the season. 15! I know the NFC East is putrid, but at 0-6 they're definitely done. There's no coming back from 0-6. As for my team, the Cowboys, Tony Romo, as expected, has been getting a lot of hate since that crushing defeat. Now, I'm not trying to excuse that late game pick he threw that lost the game, but there are some things to consider. With any other quarterback in the league, not named Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers, the Cowboys are never even in that game and are getting blown out by multiple touchdowns. Even with the interception, Romo had one of the greatest performances by a quarterback ever. He's been terrific this season: 71.8% completions 1523 passing yards 13 TD 2 Int 114.3 passer rating. The much bigger issue for the Cowboys is that the defense isn't stopping anyone. If you keep putting Romo in a position where he constantly has to sling it to stay in the game, yeah, he's going to throw a crushing pick sometimes. The guy makes spectacular, head turning plays, but being a gunslinger type quarterback also means throwing crushing picks occasionally. Anyway, they play Washington this week, a game they should win. A game they better win.

  24. Yeah. Makes me happy the Sawx won't have to see him in game 1 or game 2. They almost certainly won't have to see Scherzer in game 1 either.
