I just realized La Mulana 2 released a few days ago. If they ever port it to Linux (the first one had a Linux port and this is one is using Unity) I will insta-buy it as I loved the first game.

I thought that happened to me too, but I'm not convinced the devilishly handsome man above the sink was me, on account of all the writing on his shirt being backwards.

For me, Final Fantasy died with X-2. I feel the series (and Square) peaked during the SNES era, those games were amazing. I liked VII (not nearly as much as VI, mind you), I'm one of the weirdos that liked VIII, I really liked IX (everybody did), and, while I definitely saw a dip in quality, I still thought X was a good game. X-2, though, while not flat out bad, just felt so uninspired. XII did nothing to revive my interest, we've already covered the XIII trilogy (aka the director's hard on for Lightning, possibly the most boring protagonist in the series). XV is just a mess. It has some charm to it (the boy band vibe is terrific), but the story is just such a colossal failure on almost every level and the fun mini-games are buried among the standard generic open world collectathon garbage.

I drove by a sign in Illinois today that read "Rough road next 4 miles". My immediate thought was "They should put signs at the border of Indiana and Michigan, right next to the welcome sign, that read "Rough roads entire state".

What do you mean "finally"? In my mind Squeenix murdered the franchise a long time ago. FFXIII obliterated any shred of interest I still had in the franchise at that point. The fact that they did not one but two sequels to that abortion was basically beating a dead horse.

I started playing Shin Megami Tensei Liberation Dx2 on my Android phone. It's f2p and I'm fully expecting to hita pay wall and the game to attempt to milk me dry, but my love of all things MegaTen compels me toat least give it a try.

Personally, I'm indifferent toward achievements. I don't much care about them myself, but I understand some people can see them as extra "value" as it may increase their play time. Of course, I don't necessarily equate play time with value, but I know some people do. I find achievements that you would aquire naturally in a normal playthrough completely worthless. When I see a popup in a Steam game come up "Achievement Unlocked - Completed Chapter 1" I roll my eyes and dismissivewank.gif. Also, I don't see the value in achievements of doing something you normally do in the game to an excessive amount, like kill 100,000 enemies. That just seems like it requires a lot of boring, tedious grind to achieve. On the other hand, I find achievements that require playing the game in a different way or to go off the beaten path or solve a hidden puzzle at least interesting, even if I'll usually not bother with them myself. Still, I can definitely see achievements as an extra bit of fun for some people, even if I don't care about them myself. However, the notion of achievements being a primary purchasing decision factor boggles my mind. That seems really stupid.

Wait, do people buy games just to get trophies? Are trophies some sort of social standing currency? Is this a thing?

Still playing Hero-U, still great. The game never ceases to charm. Recently I killed the giant proach with some help and scored major brownie points with my girl Esme. I hope she doesn't friend zone me.

That looks even more jank than PUBG.

The only point n click RPGs I can think of are Quest For Glory 1-5 and Hero-U, seeing as they are combinations of point n click adventures and RPGs. They are phenomenal, by the way.

I'll be in the market for a new laptop in the not too distant future. Having switched careers to trucking, while I could theoretically put my desktop in the sleeper cab, a laptop is a lot more practical for my needs and my current laptop is getting quite old. Too bad I'm going to be forced to go Team Green as AMD hasn't put out a dedicated mobile gpu in a couple years and their APUs, while nice, are just not powerful enough for my gaming needs. If I were to buy today I'd be looking for something with a 17" screen and a gtx 1060, but since the 11xx series is almost here, I might as well wait for laptops with a gtx 1160 in it. That might also force me to go with Intel for the cpu as I don't even know if they make laptops with AMD cpus and Nvidia gpus. That seems likean unholy union.

8 cores is pretty mucha given as the current top of the line Ryzen chips are already 8 cores/16 threads. As for the increase in IPC, 10-15% is optimistic but certainly not unreasonable. If true, Intel is set to lose more ground until they can bring a true new architecture to the table. The Core architecture is really long in the tooth. As Zoraptor mentioned, Intel's in-house chip manufacturing facilities have been their main advantage (other than strong arm tactics, FUD, and shady anti-competitive deals that stifled the competition's ability to bring products to the table) for decades. Intel has been 2 to 3 years ahead of AMD on almost every die shrink and process improvement... Until now. 10nm has been an unmitigated disaster for them and it's now many years behind schedule and AMD is set to actually beat them to the punch on a die shrink. This is the worst position Intel has been in since the Pentium 4 space heater fiasco.

Usually I just make myself a quick sandwich from the stuff we stock up on at Walmart and put in the mini fridge on our semi truck in the interest of saving money and time. But, being couped up in that truck nearly 24/7, once in a while you gotta stop, take some time, and eat a good meal to feel human again. Today we stopped at a Petro truck stop in Arkansas and they had an Iron Skillet restaurant there (most of the time it's Subway, Wendys, Arbys, that sort of thing). Looking through the menu I saw the Cubano and immediately knew that's what I wanted. Even an average Cubano is a delicious sandwich, but this Cubano was well above average. The pork chop was amazing, the ham was great, and the cheese, mustard, and pickle ratios were perfect. I had to use willpower to keep from popping wood while eating the sandwich. I got a bowl of beef and cabbage soup for my side which was also quite good.

1 - I live in the USA in North Carolina. For all its faults, the USA is still a great place to live and I'm super happy living in North Carolina. Why? The weather is great year round, the state is beautiful, the economy thriving, and the cost of living is low. 2 - There are a ton of places I want to visit but I have no intention of leaving the USA nor North Carolina. I do want to move a bit west to the Asheville area in the future (I live just outside Charlotte now) but that's still in North Carolina.

You might as well wait a month or two fpr the GTX 11xx cards to come out. If nothing else, it will drop the prices on the 10xx series cards some more.

Nah, hitting her back is too obvious and, if we've learned anything from sports scuffles, it's always the person who retalliates that gets in trouble, not the person who got physical first. The proper response is to pretend to let it go, wait a good long bit of time, then stealthily cut the brake line on her parent's car before they take her to school. *devil emoji* -

If we take into account every doomsday prophecy that has ever gained any amount of measurable attention, we're probably like 0 for 6482630746 on apocalypse predictions. I suppose it only takes 1 to be correct... As an aside, if the apocalypse were to actually happen, what would your preffered method be? Biblical Armageddon, zombie apocalypse, robot apocalypse, meteor, super volcano eruption, alien attack, something else?
