What Are You Playing Now: The New Beginning Thread

When I first watched Star Wars back when I was a wee lad I was all about the Jedi, because what kid doesn't like space wizards? As I've grown older, at some point (probably when I realized how stupid the Jedi were) it flipped and now I find the Jedi and Sith to be the absolutely least interesting aspect of the Star Wars universe. If I were to play SW:TOR it would definitely be a non-Force user class. Is it f2p? If so, how in your face are the microtransactions? -
I gotta give props to the Kroger in southern Columbus, Ohio. I'm picking up a load in Columbus tomorrow morning, so after dropping my trailer at a nearby truck stop I bobtailed over to Kroger to do some shopping. I scooped up some spicy tuna rolls and this is probably the best supermarket sushi I've ever gotten.

It's a Paradox game, so I fully expect 328 DLCs over the next 4 or 5 years. I too hope the base game is good on its own.

Once I buy a house, hopefully in the not too distant future, I plan to adorn some of its walls with weapons, shields, etc. There is a 100% chance that there will be a naginata in said house, on account of naginatas being awesome, There is a 98% chance that, at some point, likely after I've had a couple schlongtails too many, I will do damage to the house and/or its furnishings while trying to look like a badass (and failing) with said naginata. This is a thing that is going to happen, I have already accepted that. So with that said, I can't really fault Olivia Munn here.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson among a group that has purchased the XFL. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2902885-the-rock-redbird-capital-buy-vince-mcmahons-xfl-for-15m-after-bankruptcy.amp.html So what do you think? On a serious note, I hope they make it work. XFL2.0 was shockingly not terrible before The Covid killed it. I kind of feel even better about it now that an increasingly out of touch 74 year old Vince McMahon is no longer running the ship.

I'm assuming "peaky blinders" is some manner of British slang. I have no clue what it means, so can someone please clue me in? Thanks in advance. Anyway, it looks like a stealth puzzle game, which is right up my alley. I'm good at tactical games, stealth games, and puzzle games. I'm anywhere from mediocre to SUPER GARBAGE at most other games. I hope this is good.

Not gonna lie, I have a serious case of cat shirt envy.

There are some pretty good restaurants and/or food trucks at or near some truck stops. Unfortunately, they are the exception, rather than the norm these days. The vast majority of the time, your options are limited to whatever fast food restaurant is at the truck stop, typically McDonalds, Wendys, Subway, etc. and the roller hotdogs, sitting under heat lamps for hours burritos and burgers, and whatever other junk they have. You can usually at the very least find a supermarket-level premade salad, so there are usually some "healthy" options, but you are definitely very limited in that area. California has some good Indian food at some truck stops, and there's a halfway decent chance of getting some good BBQ or Mexican in Texas. In my experiences, those are the 2 best states for finding good food at or near truck stops. There is good food in other states near truck stops, but far more sparsely scattered.

Only the finest Grade C processed into oblivion "meats" and grains fortified with fillers and preservatives.

Welcome to another Random Musing of a Truck Driver. This time around I will be tackling the topic of consciousness, specifically as it applies to today's most widely accepted scientific view of the world. According to Quantum Field Theory all forces and energy are a manifestation of fluctuations or disturbances in fields. Well, what if there is a Consciousness Field and all individual consciousnesses are fluctuations in said field? That includes every conscious being on Earth and potentially on any other planet in the universe. Furthermore, this could be used to explain the wave function collapse dilema, famously introduced by the double slit experiment, that scientists have been struggling with for nearly 100 years. As a quick recap of the dilema, particles seem to behave as a wave, with the peaks and valleys giving probibilities of where the particle might actually be, until a measurement is made at which point the wave function "collapses" and the particle instantly has a definite location. The big issue is that the Schrodinger Equation, which describes the wave function beautifully, does not have in it the capacity for this "collapse". Numerous solutions to this have been proposed but no consensus has ever been reached and there are still debates on points, such as what exactly constitutes a measurement and who or what can do the measuring? I propose that the "measurement" is the fluctuation in the consciousness wave corresponding to the observer interacting with the probability wave of the particle. When the two waves meet and interact at the instant said conscious being observes and measures the particle the consciousness wave essentially cancels out all of the probability wave of the particle except for the lone peak of its actual physical location, hence causing the wave function to "collapse".

Holy crap, I had completely given up on SpaceVenture. It looks like something that would have popped up on the Xbox live arcade circa Xbox 360. Still, I'm just really pleasantly surprised that this is still a thing that is happening.

^ You got the true ending. I got the true ending the second time through on my NG+ run, I got the neutral ending first time through. I neither have the testicular fortitude nor the gaming skill to attempt a NG++ run to get the bad ending and 100% the game.

When Mirabell hit level 16 in LotRO, she acquired the challenge skill; it's a taunt, standard tank skill. It has her raise up her weapon and yell "Aaaaaaaaaaa!" in the most hilarious voice. Since I'm soloing, the skill is functionally useless, on account of the fact that all the enemies will be attacking me anyway, but I use the challenge skill every chance I get because I find the yell endlessly entertaining. -

Mirabell hit level 15 in LotRO and with that I was able to give her a surname. My original plan was to make her a Hornblower from South Farthing, but apparently that surname, along with many of the popular hobbit surnames, is locked. Instead, I made her a Longhole from Bree, so I'll also buy a personal house in the Bree-Lands to stay close to my family. I'm also pretty much tapped out in The Shire, so I guess I'll move on to one of the other starting areas. -

AFAIK they are still working together.

There's always the chance that a developer fails to capture the tone or spirit of any given subject matter, especially when tackling a genre foreign to them. It definitely helps that CDPR have been working with Mike Pondsmith who quite literally wrote the Cyberpunk pnp source books that this video game is adapting. Short of working with William Gibson, I have a hard time thinking of someone who is better suited to helping CDPR capture the tone and feel of Cyberpunk.

Mirabell got herself a Bounder Feathered Hat. Look at how stylish it is. Marvel at its refined beauty: As an aside, does everybody start in The Shire or only Hobbits?

I don't mind "edgy" if the game is good. Since you brought up Hatred, those same devs made a game called IS Defense, and I can speak to this game since I own it and have played it. t's likely "shock value" or being controversial may have been a contributing factor to the design of the game, but it turned out to be a pretty good game, for what it was. I mean, it was just the turret section from many a game expanded to be a standalone game, but it was well executed and properly priced. So, if a dev wants to get "edgy", so long as the game is good, I'm fine with it.If "edgy" is the only draw and the game sucks otherwise, then I'll pass. As for Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR have already proven they are quite capable of making an excellent game. Furthermore, they are one of the most successful and famous developers in the world today, they have absolutely zero need to try to drum up interest by being controversial. The Cyberpunk hype train is already full steam ahead. I have faith CDPR will just try to make the best game possible and neither bend to pressures from the moral police nor get edgy simply for the sake of being edgy.

It's a follow up to that Agony game, right? I never played Agony, so this is hearsay, but supposedly that game was pretty trash.

Have you seen Russian games? Granted, Russians tend to go heavier on the memes, but they definitely also go anti-PC and irreverent. Maybe it's a slavic thing? Us slavs give zero ****s what you western progressives see as good and proper.
