What Are You Playing Now: The New Beginning Thread

Most, if not all, of the other Revolution Software games are on GOG, so it stands to reason Beyond a Steel Sky winds up there eventually. -
I'm sorta tempted to get HBO Max, mainly for Westworld, but it's so comparatively expensive to other streaming platforms. Is there anything else on there (don't care about GoT) to make it worth the money?

Beyond a Steel Sky is the most fun Ive had with a point n click since Thimbleweed Park, it's really well done. You get a hacking tool early on which is used in a bunch of puzzles, but you can also use it just for shenanigans. I love me some shenanigans. Also, varied and interesting characters make all the difference. Also also -

Union City seems like a veritable utopia, there's definitely nothing sinister going on behind the scenes... Spankles, get the sensation!

https://nypost.com/2020/08/23/kim-jong-un-in-a-coma-as-his-sister-takes-control-report/amp/ Speculation abounds that Glorious Leader has fallen into a coma and his sister is now in control. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time that rumors of a Kim Jong Un health crisis have circulated. Still, it does bring up the question can Glorious Leader's sister (Glorious Sister?) carry on the family standard? I mean, has she ever hit 18 holes in one in a round of golf? -
Supposedly, xXxBOX Series xXx has hardware ray tracing and some manner of super sampling. It stands to reason that PS5 and Big Navi will feature these also, given that they are all RDNA2.

^ You make it sound so appealing.

New plan: Step 1) Become a dog whisperer Step 2) Dog befriends badgers Step 3) Dog acts as intermediary between me and badgers /rubs hands together It's all coming together...

If you're looking to have shootouts then I can point you to any number of better 3rd person shooters. If you are looking to sneak up on people and choke them out or push them off ledges, then the controls work wonderfully, on a gamepad, anyway. I only use m&kb when I'm sniping, so I can't speak to the general m&kb controls.

How can something this adorable completely wreck your ****? I mean, it will absolutely wreck your ****, but look how cute it is!

The fact that Lisa Su hasn't been hyping Big Navi doesn't worry me, since AMD is in bed with, as @Zoraptor put it, MSony, and wouldn't want to step on the console launches. Leather jacket enthusiast Jensen Huang, on the other hand, would like nothing more than to take a big steaming **** all over the launches of the PS5 and xXxBOX Series xXx. I'm not too worried about Big Navi having something to counter the 3090. It would be nice, but I'm not shopping in that segment of the market. Ideally, a 3080 would be ~10% faster than a 2080 Ti and a 3070 nearly on par with it. If Jensen gets to set the price with basically no competition, then I fear we may be looking at something like $900 and $700 respectively. Hopefully AMD is competitive enough to drive those prices down to where whichever team color I choose, they at least have the common decency to apply a bit of lube before they violate my wallet.

I mean, I will also have a naginata, a pistol, a hunting rifle, and a shotgun. So, if you are looking to invade my house, first you have to get past 6.5mm Creedmoor shells, them 10mm auto, then super badgers, then 12 gauge buckshot, then a naginata. If you are still alive at this point then you have earned everything in my house. -

New plan, once I buy a house in the mountains, I need to find a badger whisperer. Then I will journey to Chernobyl with said badger whisperer to befriend a male and a female radiated super badger. I'll bring them back home (I'll have to grease a lot of palms) and have them mate. I'll have my own squadron of super badgers to protect the property. -
I highly doubt Big Navi will have anything to challenge the 3090 or whatever it will be called. I'm hoping they have worthy challengers to the 3080, 70 that are competitively priced. I have no intention of spending $1400 on a video card. I think we'll be waiting for at least RDNA3 for AMD to compete at the highest end again. I'd be quite happy to be wrong.

So, theoretically this is the RTX 3090 Founder's Edition: Holy ****balls, look at the size of that monstrosity! Good luck fitting that in a mini-ITX. The price tag floating around the rumor mill is a STAGGERING $1400. Granted, it supposedly packs 5248 CUDA cores, which is a signigicant increase from the 2080 Ti which it is replacing (?). Still, I dearly hope either that price is wrong or Big Navi is surprisingly good when it arrives (preferably both), if for no other reason than to knock Nvidia's prices down. I have no doubt that this card is a beast, but that price tag is painful to look at and it follows that the 3080, 3070, and 3060 will have similarly inflated prices.

I started Beyond a Steel Sky, the sequel 26 years in the making. The intro cinematic is done in a comic book panel style, but with limited motion and full voice over. There was a part where the panel, speech bubbles and all was panning across the screen and the text was not moving in-sync with the rest of the panel, making it seem like it was vibrating. Also, the framerates occasionally take a hard dip. Those could be Linux specific issues, I guess. Luckily, those issues haven't marred the experience for me. Once the intro is over, the game switches to a 3rd person view and it looks really good. The character models, backgrounds, and animations are all very well done. The comic book panels look fine, but I wish they had done the intro with the 3D graphics, because they look better than the comics, to be honest. All the voice acting has been high quality so far and I've already grown attached to some characters, and I'm just getting started. I'm having a blast so far and, even as a point n click grognard, I really dig the feel of the game in 3rd person. I hope that if they make another Broken Sword that they adopt the 3rd person perspective for it. -
Who here loves obtuse puzzle games? /raises hand //looks around Just me? Well, I'm going to post this anyway.

Fixed that for you. SIE is most definitely best girl, though.
