Perhaps then they should not have the correct answer in those choices if your character hasn't met the stats then. I do remember that happening in BG2 when talking to Solaufein if your int was high you could answer Illithid, medium was Soul Flayer and low was Otyugh.

But it is a system that is relying on your intelligence, not your characters (which is ultimately my objection; I want my character to be doing as much of the stuff as possible, not me). Sounds like you want to watch a movie more then play a game.

This +1,000,000, I don't have time to spend five hours straight going through a dungeon so I NEED to save whenever and where ever. Also people should stop dictating how others play their game it's getting obnoxious, if you don't like save scumming, don't do it.

Paladins and Bards
AlphaShard replied to AlphaShard's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I think that if I could get a Priest faction or any faction that isn't completely out of wack I will be happy. I would just like to feel like a hero is that so much to ask? Skyrim really didn't give that kind of vibe. -
Your Personal House

I loved the suikoden series my self and seems like the house will evolve into a stronghold -
There are games that won't allow you to solve the puzzle until your character has found that answer somewhere else in the game. I think Sierra games had problems with that, you had to phrase things very exactly.

I do miss using the Parser in games. Everything is so streamlined now a days.

Paladins and Bards
AlphaShard replied to AlphaShard's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I doubt it will be truly something new and never seen before like a class that uses clouds to focus rain or sunlight on an opponent, it might sound mad and be impossible but that is the stage we are at if we want something never seen before. Isn't that what a Druid can do? or an Elemental Wizard? Agreed +1 I find it silly to complain about the premise of this game, if you don't want to back it, don't. Personally I want the world to be like Forgotten Realms. That's why I'm backing it. -
I think the biggest incentive here is to show them that we want Isometric RPG games, I would love another Forgotten Realms game and if buy this game helps convince them.

Paladins and Bards
AlphaShard replied to AlphaShard's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I think when you boil down a Paladin to "an armored priest" and Bard to "Singing rogue" your overlooking the point of these classes. A Priest is usually a passive role, one that spends time pursuing more scholarly pursuits unless healing is needed. A Paladin is a Holy Knight with a mission who doesn't spend time preaching his faith but enforcing it. A Bard is more just Rogue skills they posses magic, music and charm. They are a more RP centric class, a Rogue will get by stealthy, the Wizard will use Magic and the Fighter will use Force. The Bard will use charm. -
This is why Bag of Holdings were invented.

More classes would add to the replay value of the game. -

And I love to play Paladins. I am hoping that Obsidian will add them as a stretch goal, seeing that they are one of the more popular classes. Bards also make sense though too, Bards are pretty good buffers. I think Bards are good for more then just buffing, they have good role play and non-combat options as well. -
Paladins and Bards

I think a lot of people under estimate what a Bard can do just because they are not masters of arms, magic and stealth. They can still be crafty spy's, diplomats, con men, etc. -

Police don't have a problem being Lawful Good why would a Paladin not make sense? Just because we don't have alignment doesn't mean there isn't good/evil. There was plenty of characters spouting about both in Skyrim.
