OK. Another noob question: I have a number of GF keystones now, but only one that I've kept levelling up using that transparent guardian at the end of the GFs. So, what happens if I finally fail to do the GF within the time limit (the last time I had 1 min 43s to spare), will that keystone with a rank-number on it disappear? I mean, to get to rank 25, do I need to keep beating timed GFs in a row, without failure?

Patch 2.1.2 just dropped, and I experienced my best D3 windfall so far! I hadn't played it in a long time, and decided to give it a whirl. In one hour, my beloved DH got two legendary gems (one excellent 30s after killing elites, you get 30% more damage, and one that bleeds enemies - I've never found a single legendary gem before), a legendary crossbow (my old one was better), a legendary belt (it was much better than mine, set pants (that was better than mine plus two sockets), a new legendary helm (which makes the gem that's socketed in it appear as an extra whenever I find a gem - amazingly nice!). New Tristam has been re-arranged, and is much more user-friendly now. I have experienced my first Greater Rifts and I climb the GR ladder pretty fast. My damage increased by 379K within one single bountiful hour! Yay!!

Number of portraits?

I'd just like to chime in: Yes, please, to an option of screen-cap portraits. -
Betabackers: Are racial bonuses important?
IndiraLightfoot replied to Kid Presentable's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Yeah, disregarding a few noteworthy exceptions, CRPGs did for long suffer from a Tolkien complex, almost. From the late 1990s, and into the 3rd millennia, the writers of several of these games don't hesitate to bring up all sorts of political matters and degenerate power structures. It's nice reading stuff that challenge the norms and that also highlight unfortunate issues in the sociocultural histories on this planet. -
Crickets of Eternity

Yeah, in this type of game, such sliders and sound/voice-options are pretty dang important. Here's hoping for a quick patch after it's released then. -
Josh takes on a few Xaurip skirmishers and wyrms in a special dungeon at about 19:30-20:50. And he claims he's in trouble, but something is very wrong and grating in that encounter. If you take a look at the bottom centre of the screen, you'll see a north-south-going line of three wyrms and in turn a trapped Xuarip behind them (that's half the enemies in that encounter), and these don't move at all. The first wyrm blocks the other two, and they just don't move at all for over a minute. Is this all due to bad pathfinding? Is the wyrm blocking the entire archway? Mind you, the three wyrms and that Xaurip are not afflicted by any spells and they are hostile. It is so bad that they are just standing until one of Josh's character walk up to the first Wyrm and begin to slaughter it, and then nothing much of a resistance is going on. What gives?

At 54:01 in the Youtube version, we see Josh clicking to use a big gate as an area transition, and it doesn't work as smoothly as we should expect it to! (This is also something I've been reporting since the very start of the beta, btw) Josh does what we all do (and he must have played the game lots and lots - he approaches the closed gate and hovers somewhere reasonably in the middle of the gate in the hope of finding the small, round little door icon - and it all ends up rather wonky and stuttering. My suggestion has always been: A click on such an area transition works straight away - easy as a Sunday morning. As things are now, we have to mouse-hover-fondle every area transition for hitting a small round hitbox that's actually hidden until you mouse it over, an extra headache, mind you.

Attribute system revamped?
IndiraLightfoot replied to GordonHalfman's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I like that Deflection is split on two attributes - pretty clever. So... In order to avoid any one-attribute-to-rule-them all-syndrome, why don't have increased damage on another attribute, say Int or Dex, and also, why don't have more Health and Edurance on not only Con, but also Res? Mad, I know, but the basic premise is pretty neat. -
Wanna hear something funny? Those light wooden panels with white text on them was the very first thing I reported in as bad and almost unreadable in the earliest beta, and they are still in. I just can't wrap my head around why. Voice of Reason: *Pst! It's because you're just a backer, and not a game dev at Obsidian*

Meshugger: I already have friends with kids living in these "worst areas of Sweden", and they boast big semi-detached houses - condos - with gardens, plenty of bed rooms over two floors, and good schools and social activities, libraries, sports facilities, you name it. I've had one family I know well that moved from Cambridge to one of them, and they were utterly surprised. They even claimed that I had painted it all in black colours. I had visited them over in Cambridge - in their small two-by-two, or whatever it was called - and that standard of living was lower than in these Swedish "ghettos". It would be an easy recommendation. However, everything is relative. There are slightly more bad stuff happening now and then there than in more well-to-do areas. -

Heh! Not all of them, but they sure have been blown out of proportion. Some rare incidents of rocks and twigs having been thrown at them. As a kid, we used to throw snowballs at big trucks and public buses. Once, it ended up in the newspapers the day after. I guess that made us kids terrorists. Just like that bus driver got freaked out over a kids prank, the Swedish firemen and ambulance drivers are easily rattled. We're talking about a country that hasn't been to war in over 200 years. For other people, me included, who have experienced such horrors, they do come across as a bit sissy and whiny. EDIT: In Sweden, it's standard procedure for police to escort fire trucks and ambulances when there's something slightly bigger going on, like a fire. EDIT 2: While areas like Husby, Rinkeby and RosengÄrd aren't ghettos, not even by a generous stretch of my imagination, they are still areas where relatively poorer people tend to live, and unsurprisingly many of the new Swedes are over-represented there. This means that the crime rate, unemployment, level of education, alcohol and drug abuse figures, etc, are higher there. They are, however, nothing, it's not even near, say, the shanty towns of South Africa or Brazil, or the horrific ghettos in Central Europe during WWII. EDIT 3: I was actually wrong about the alcohol consumption. It turns out that this was true when I was young. Recent 21st-century figures show that it's lower in these areas, because spirits and such are expensive, and plenty of people abstain for religious reasons as well compared to more well-to-do folks in richer areas in the big cities of Sweden. -

There are no ghettos in Sweden, and the police has never done such a thing in Sweden, nor has there been any need for it. The extreme right-wing organization, which this "Matt Danielsson" is linked to (it didn't take much of a deep search) is explicitly racist and islamophobic. He's one of many such fake political bloggers, trying to sneak in material to unsuspecting news agencies all over the world. Rostere is absolutely right. I have lived in a few of them for several years. They are more peaceful than the London docks or the Hollywood hills, and with less drugs too. -
NEO Scavenger looks really neat and "fresh". I'll definitely check it out. D:OS, Wasteland 2 and M&M X are all great games. I own, but still haven't completed D:OS and Dragonfall (far from it), so I have a lot of good stuff to look forward to. DA:I certainly was the best RPG, though, that year, objectively speaking.

Critical Damage Balancing/ mitigation....
IndiraLightfoot replied to tdphys's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Perhaps I'm just imagining things, but isn't the obvious solution to make critical hits rare enough in occurrence as well as not having an insane effect on damage? -
According to EuroGamer: "Wasteland 2 has made more than $1.5m in revenue in four days on sale. That's a significant take for the independent game, which had a budget of around $6m - "we put in twice as much money into this game than we raised from Kickstarter", Brian Fargo, head of developer inXile, told us. Incidentally, Wasteland 2's success follows the strong performance of another Kickstarter success story earlier this year: Divinity: Original Sin. Developer Larian revealed sales of more than 500,000 copies earlier this month - a figure that securely paves the way for a prosperous future."

Just bribe his ink slinger, who then surreptitiously injects him with a heavy drug he isn't used to, and then we can use Bieber as his very own belieber, having him sign off everything he owns lock, stock and barrel to select members of the Obsidian forums. All forumites/accomplices will be wading in dough for an eternity. Pillars of Eternity 3, here we come!
