  1. @E.RedMark: Nice to see another gaming veteran. I played Pong in the 70's, and my first D&D CRPG on the Intellivision slightly later, and I have been hooked ever since.
  2. I did play POE1 lol the issue...is that I just suck . I mean I played DOS 1 and 2..and dunno..the system was easier , the each it turn make it easy . When it's like BG...I get a harder time . I did finish the game , just not gonna brag 'I played on Insanity and I still have my pants!' lol *Shrug*...I get it eventually lol Yeah, turn-based is another beast, but you do know that you get to set up auto-pauses and you can have slomo slow mode, etc?
  3. @E.RedMark: Have you played PoE1, or are you new to the franchise? If so, there will be something of a learning curve (which I personally love to encounter in any new game I indulge in). Let's just say that stuff like Penetration, Concentration, Recovery times, Action Speed and levels of Afflictions and various resistances matter.
  4. You nailed it even before this turned into a poll. Well played, or should I say, bien joué?
  5. It's already looking a bit grim for the poor Ranger. Aragorn wrings the neck of a hobbit in sheer disgust, I'm sure!
  6. I love that we get different votes. Somebody picked Chanter, a class that I'm certain would be able to solo PoTD Deadfire as it stands right now.
  7. I do realize that there could have been two polls: -one for best solo single-class (at least which class we think functions best, left to its own devices) -and one for best party single-class.
  8. I haven't seen this mentioned before, but it certainly is a bit annoying for me. I have encountered dozens and dozens (probably over a hundred by now) magnifying glass examine icons that I can't reach no matter how close I'm standing (regardless of approach to the icon). And I don't mean that a few sit just outside the walkmesh or along map peripheries. There are plenty of unreachable mag glasses in the middle of small rooms, for instance. Am I the only one reading everything, or am I just unlucky UI-wise here? My suggestion is making that UI hitbox bigger.
  9. I must agree that Priest is bad - it would be my 2nd worst class. I have Cipher as no 1, since charming and a great T9 ability can only get you so far. Ciphers in PoE, especially the early ones, were absolutely fantastic, like the best - so I think their fall from grace hit me the hardest.
  10. I've read that some think Wizards are gutted and that Rangers are unvaried and bad. I've also read that Rogues suck. Still, after 50h in the backer beta, and over 50h in Deadfire, my own candidate, disregarding subclasses, for the worst class in Deadfire would be... *drumroll* Cipher! It hasn't done me any favours, really. And it used to be my favourite in PoE1 - I even PotD-soloed the game early on with one. Sad. What is yours? EDIT: I've added a poll!
  11. Funny thing: You can kill all guards in the Vault, ransack it, and then sneak out, and the Bardatto leader lady won't be any wiser. That's what I did after I had to reload and replay 1.5h, it's like my revenge.
  12. I strongly suspect that this quest is put on a timer, but I haven't taken time to prove it yet. Still, this urgency isn't reflected at all in the quest updates anywhere. It would be very beneficial if we could be provided with a later out - it would be for those of us that thought we were following a reasonably peaceful path towards the quest resolution. Alternatively - warn us that it is urgent timewise, and make quest updates which more clearly reflect that semi-peaceful choices won't do.
  13. I find it hilarious when people say this. Does no one leave crit path? Does no one explore? I found a three eoten fight when I was level 5, I had only one exceptional weapon, and most of my armor was "fine" level, trust me, I didn't win. Also OP, all these difficulty complainers are specifically saying the hardest difficulty setting in the game needs to be harder. Something the lead Dev admitted before the game was even released. It is a non issue, if you care about playing on the hardest setting (most people dont), wait at least until that gets patched which will probably be soon. It’s ridiculous that people are complaining about the level scaling option not working? It works, just not as well as it should. Also there is a huge difference between "this game is a cake walk and wayyy to easy" and "level scaling doesn't work". Anyone saying you "can't die" in this game is purely full of crap. Indeed, and PotD as well as solo runs usually cater to a tiny percentage of all players, so it makes sense to give such modes lesser priority. I love those modes, but I don't cry for that - I'm tying one hand behind my back with stuff like not rerolling companions and sidekicks, etc. You can make the game very challenging as it stands right now.
  14. Great posts! I do agree this is questionable quest design, as we aren't given enough warning, and when reading our quest logs, everything seem to be in order. I might as well add that Pallegina will leave your party under similar quest-confusing circumstances, where you have no option but upsetting her after just one set of steps in two quest unfoldings, which I reported as kind-of-a-bug: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98826-family-pridesinking-feeling-not-a-bug-per-se-but-it-feels-like-it/?do=findComment&comment=2017070
  15. I'll reply RP-wise: The time I had Xoti, she seemed like a great character. Aloth was a bit more predictable (well, familiar from PoE1) the first couple of hours I had him. Edér is calming and funny - a fantastic character to have around. Pallegina - much better in Deadfire. She's easily my favourite so far. Fassina is almost like a companion - with 2 quests linked to her and I have found some reactivity on her here and there from NPCs and such. Konstanten - a cool sidekick, laughing loudly during combat, but almost dead as far as questing goes. The rest I've only recruited and can't comment on.
  16. Ah, but when I clicked on her body after looting, it even said "Rotghast etc."
  17. Yep! This include the Morning Star Saru Sichr as well and its Poison Dipped. See this thread: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/99048-itemsaru-sichr-is-bugged-in-at-least-two-ways/
  18. At the third level, IIRC, of that oath pyramid Woedica sanctum, one Rotghast had an inner girl inside, as it were. Clearly a wrong corpse flag set on that Rotghast!
  19. Sadly, I keep relatively few saves that I overwrite consistently, so this was tens of hours ago in-game. At least I know that it has only happened at Tikiwara, and speaking of Tikiwara: Another thing only happening when area transitioning at that island and the Poko island to the right of it is this: My row of portraits in the hub gets right-shifted (I made another bug topic about that): https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/99092-displayhudconstant-right-shift-of-row-of-portraits-in-my-hub-after-sea-to-land-transitions/?do=findComment&comment=2019130 So, I guess, check code linked to overland map area transitions at those two islands. Perhaps some beta slice residue causing these bugs?
  20. There is already a thread about this below: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98892-bugquest-bad-medicine-not-marked-as-completed-although-it-is/ And I also mad a thread about this quest, but about the fact that I didn't get any xp for picking one specific option as opposed to another: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98409-resolving-the-harsh-medicine-quest-is-partly-bugged/?do=findComment&comment=2014597
  21. Meet Racqonia, my greedy and not so kind mountain Dwarf Fighter/Bleakwalker. She loves pets though. Yes, this is what she looks like, pretty intimidating, but short. However, don't tell her that. The last guy that did that got punched in the face:
