  1. Great post, Gromnir! You made a solid case for Cipher, and since I really like that class, I'll save it for my third playthrough, when the game's patched up a bunch.
  2. Given how well planned out the three upcoming DLCs are, I'd say that PoE3 will prolly come sooner than many would expect: -They have the world lore -They have all the systems present in PoE2 -Feargus and Obsidian (and earlier Black Isle-staff) have been known to churn out fantastic content in just a year or so -This time, it may not even be necessary to do any backer-based kickstarting - only investors on Fig, perhaps?
  3. I was under the strong impression that this is intentional. These obelisks and sigils have been working like this all through the backer beta. When I notice one of these, I beeline to them in order to destroy ASAP. I reckon they are pretty cool, and they are often placed further back - sometimes you don't see them at first. Nice stuff!
  4. There is already a thread about this just below yours: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/99419-when-will-the-patch-be-released/
  5. Josh Sawyer can do a Sid Meier, and start sliding into a consulting territory, letting some other able person like Eric Fenstermaker lead the work on PoE3.
  6. Nice find! You managed to get him killed before his dialogue.
  7. This thread about these two quests and this thread: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98430-questfamily-pride-quest-bug-peaceful-solution-fails/ They clearly belong together. The same goes for this thread under the Stories subforum: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98620-family-feud-peaceful-way-out/
  8. I think we've now invested a lot into the engine such that that making a Pillars of Eternity III will be easier, where if we had not invested much in the engine then we would have had to make a lot of changes between Pillars II and Pillars III. Buck: Wait, did you just announce Pillars of Eternity III right here, right now? Feargus: [LAUGHTER] Well, obviously, yes. If Eternity II is a sales success, we will be selling that and doing an Eternity III. http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/118557-pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire-interview/all-pages.html Wow! Thank you for that link and info. And yes, it makes so much sense! Now, they have a fantastic tool box full with graphical solutions, moulds and scripts and systems. Why not make some easier money from those assets?
  9. For this once, I'll probably do that. I mean, this is a bit of rushed patch. I put the settings - only update games between 6 and 7 in the morning - good luck with that, Steam!
  10. Yeah, it reminds me of Skyrim in this way. I avoided the main quest line on purpose, put a couple of hundred hours into the game, and when I did the rest, from that mountain and onwards, it took like 2 hours, tops (powerful character and all). I'm doing a completionist playthrough more or less, but I'm avoiding the main quest line, that way the fun lasts a lot longer.
  11. I for one fear any patch, since there is always the risk of it affecting our saves, and then tens of hours my chute down the drain.
  12. I'm thinking my next character will be a Rogue of some sort.
  13. And they really master their hand-crafted 2D fold-up-technique now. Deadfire looks absolutely beautiful! An all-icy region for PoE3 would be a bummer.
  14. Obsidian has been gathering stats about all sorts of things via telemetry for quite some time now, and PoTD and solo runs are not very popular modes, if we put it that way.
  15. Forgot to clarify that: Yeah, new Eora locations, pretty please!
  16. Since Josh & Co did so many systemic changes going from PoE1 to Deadfire, I'd love to see Obsidian capitalize on this successful recipe. Full focus on story, reactivity and exploration, and reuse as much as humanly possible from Deafire and make a big, phat PoE3!
  17. If you wait too long, it seems, this appears to hold true. What you need to do is get them to speak to each other fast. Everything else you do, if you didn't do exactly that, will just end in a bloodbath and Pallegina leaving.
  18. I agree 100% with these points. May I wish for lvl 1-30 for PoE3? Perhaps the map needs to be 50-70% bigger then? The year 2020? *Gulp*
  19. @E.RedMark: You and me both. I'd easily trade a hub like a ship or a stronghold for tonnes of more RP reactivity based on my background and character traits. Perhaps they can borrow a page from Storm of Zehir and have your party members' avaialble for all sorts of dialogue interactions? I also think that levelling go to fast in Deadfire. I'd prefer a slower xp gain. And even more exploration and surprises, please. The overland map is nice and all, but let's face it - those islands are pretty empty and uneventful. Cram heaps of surprises into our CRPG experience and watch us smile widely!
  20. Having played Deadfire like a maniac now, and already feeling the fear of abstinence, I reckon Obsidian sits on a diamond in the rough. Here are my quick and dirty suggestions: -Deadfire's interfaces and systems are for the most part spot on and great - reuse them in PoE3 -Naval combat can be dropped -Either add a new map, like 33% bigger, with half of it being a coastline with an archipelago, and the other half being a huge overland continental thingie -Start from level 1 again, with all new characters -Pick some other climate and a few new cultures -Add new music and monsters, plus a few new spells and abilities -Just do minor class adjustments, no other system changed, really And add a tighter story, more urgent and involving, perhaps personal. Then stir and enjoy a fabulous PoE3! Let's say, Autumn 2019, shall we? What are your ideas for PoE3? All I know that I want to see a PoE3 as soon as possible!
  21. I'm glad you brought up the Tab trick. I used that on a few, and it worked - but for most of them, it didn't help.
  22. IIRC, ranger was among the worst in PoE1 as well. Perhaps the class will be boosted (a rare thing, if so, in the PoE franchise).
  23. I had to pick Paladin and Chanter - both are immensely fun to play - varied, powerful, cool subclasses, you name it. I love them both.
