  1. What characterizes a good RPG? "JS: A sense of danger and uncertainty, rollercoaster difficulty, a feeling of discovery, full party control, a lot of options." Sawyer, I love you! "Since the year is winding down, I’m really looking forward to [....] Dishonored and Assassin’s Creed III." Same here, Josh. Those will be my first comfort games on the way to PE.

  4. Less than 20K now, if we include PayPal-backers! A few hours, then it's Zeit-time! And only 1,500 likes on Facebook left til next level in Mega Dungeon. Feargus and the guys have a lot stuff to update on the KS-page when they wake up from their beauty sleeps...
  5. For real though, MC! I watched a weird documentary about that team on Friends. It was like a guy and a lady who were legends in their field, legends in the industry. They squeezed plastic bags with flour in them and it sounded like footsteps in the snow. And they walked around on all four with boots on their hands, looking dead serious! No kidding!

  7. Two more suggestions: At 0:39 there is what sounds like a sledge hammer on an anvil, and also the absolute beginning, the sweeping mood note is clearly not a traditional instrument, more a key pressed on a synth.
  8. I'll take a guess at two. As someone has commented there, at 0:32, there's something that sounds like a sample of buzzsaw or something (it's like 1980s and Depeche all over again). And then in the very beginning, the chiming sound doesn't come across as anything traditional - no real bell or metal xylophone. It sounds like something else (it could be a sample of a pling from some modern gadget).
  9. Great input, Sensuki! Voice-acting can be most memorable indeed! And volume of content is another thing to underline. I actually want the game to be that rich that is not fully explorable in one go. A completionist should by no way be able to. To really see all that game has to offer, you need to roll other characters and/or do entirely different things, make different choices.

  12. ImRhoven: I feel your pain, but you must imagine my surprise at hearing that it was such a calamity for you. I've literally played thru vanilla NWN2 dozens of times with all kinds of characters. And I've also tinkered with it big time, and still no crashes as such. Now I run it on x64-system on an OS that didn't even exist back then, and still no issues. I know, of course, that there were some people having trouble with that silver shard, but I could've sworn that the bug was ironed out once and for all early on. Perhaps it's just one of those rare mismatches between code and certain computer set-ups? I' don't know. One thing is absolutely certain, however. If you install it on some other system it would in all probability run like clockwork. Obviously, there are still minor bugs in game today, but those are of cosmetic nature or mild nuisances, like your party sinking through the cobblestone as it was butter in some areas of Neverwinter, for instance, hehe. That you can fix yourself in the toolset, just change the walking mesh a bit and rebake! EDIT: And not to derail this topic: Yes, I agree that it is a worthy goal for Obsidian to make this game as polished as possible at release, so sorry if I came across as snarky.

  15. It would be great if he featured in a clip somehow, but just that he's in will make my day and our game!
  16. The stretch goal of a stronghold is nice and all, but it is now only a vehicle in my book towards getting Ziets into the project. When he's in I have a feeling he will plant a book in some dusty hidden library. And one of the book titles there'll read "Who Killed the Butler?". And if you open the last page, the story will unfold in an uncanny way. The guilty party was all of the Obsidian Order of Eternity, taking turns, like in "Murder on the Orient Express".

  18. The screenshot exceeds my expectations! It looks like a mature version of BG II worthy of 2014 in each and every way! Very uber-neat!! And I get an almanac as well. Thank you, Obsidian! It looks great. As for the stretch goals that second city sounds like a dream come true. A fantastic stretch goal - brilliant idea!
  19. Steam, the neutral evil tinker gnome sinks a burin into the good-hearted barbarian Gog's hamstring. "Aargh!", goes the hairy barbarian, which swirls around in an attempt to sever the mean gnome's mischievous head. But alas, Gog was seven feet tall and missed in the worst possible way, twisting the punctured leg so that the main vein spurted out all his blood in seconds. "Urgh!", muttered Steam, still satisifed with such a simple coup de grace.
  20. Update reveals that a planetravelling race will land on the world of PE and start each and every line with "Know this..."
  21. ImRhoven: I was a modder in NWN2 all through its expansions and I knew those patches by heart. I had the game installed on two computers, one laptop and one desktop, and I hade like two crashes in dozens of months. Those computers weren't even very good, so I honestly don't know what you are talking about. I supect your pc was clogged with malware and other stuff that drained its performance.
  22. BG1:s "open" approach was a bit better I think, but storywise I liked BG2 more. I think I'd prefer "open" and also something where you get lost quite a bit in sidequests, and ideally, this losing yourself, as it were, would have an impact on the main quest(s). In DA O those three big subquests were obvious, horrible and forced - they made my RPG-tummy churn! If such paths are to be included they should be cleverly interwoven and acknowleding the order of things.
