Update 24 and several of OEI:s answers to those Reddit questions were really to my liking: -Scarcity of healing and healing potions. No rez scrolls -Rest spamming is avoided by a clever fatigue system (stamina and health) -Souls, twisted souls and an emphasis on "necromancy" (I love it!) -Splashes of Lovecraft-ish-horror -No boring combat, where yet another door is kicked down and you face Skeleton no 242 -Level-scaled content will be used minimally -Two new humanoid races for the players to chose (no more orcs, kobolds and goblins) -Wandering off in random directions in the wilderness will be dangerous and risky -Suspicion towards grinding and humdrum kill-xp And the list goes on and on... Just, wow! This game sure sounds promising. Have any of yous more of these goodies you want to mention that you are really excited about? EDIT: LOL, I wrote "here", instead of "hear" in the title. Hopefully, a moderator can change it, coz I don't know how...

Countdown to Eternity.

This extra city does the trick no doubt, but I think that Obsidian's free creative reins and proven record of generous and genuinely enjoyable CRPGs is the big draw here. Well, whatever, I'm just so happy and nervous right now. It's like waiting for X-mas. -
Regenshire: That is not a bad idea. It makes too much swapping at least something that the game frown upon and penalize. And I know OEI wrote "employed" in some sentence there, but I'd much rather have that language removed for an adventurer hub, it really doesn't fit the huge width of RP-scope that comes with the territory of plyaer-made parties in this kind of games.

My head is still reeling after the wonderful success of having talented mr Ziets onboard! But I wonder if anyone has heard anything about George's reaction to all this or when he will give a wave to the community.

Niko: You've missed folks like me. Ever since I pen'n-papered as a kid I love to RP more character than one (often just two), and by calling them "mercenaries" you demean the experience of us schizoid weirdos ( ) who like to have more than one PC onboard for a fun role-playing experience. And there are several posts here that speak of exploiting the system: Using the hub for getting new characters when someone in your party has died. That seems extremely meta-gamey and absurd in a RPG-sense. But I reserve the right to swap out party members along the way for RP reasons.

Good points, Rabain! Especially that about the "money sink" wording. I think of Diablo 3 and other horrors when I hear that word, but perhaps it is standard dev lingo. I'd much rather have a dynamic economy, well written and balanced, and that economy includes items, magical items, valuables, consumables and so forth.

Mstark: interesting, I guess I'll have to get used to that Pokemon-concept (can't believe I just wrote that). But Adventurer's Hall in my mind should be sort of the hub where I can custom-make PCs if I should chose to do so. And I'd hate for it to call all my creations mercenaries, hirelings and henchmen. But perhaps I can live with some compromise: Like it is an obscure establishment that provides contacts that point me to interestees, and those pointers require a small fee. Hmm.

No, same thing here. It's been like that for nearly an hour. -
Hmm, I may have misunderstood something, but here we go again, you say that a new pc that I've made will be more experienced than my first/main PC. Am I fooling myself, but ain't this function just a way for me to build my own characters? And wouldn't it mean that I can build a few characters that are all of the same level as my main PC when i do? And let's say I leave behind some PC I've created and make a new one. Then I regret it, and take back the PC I left behind, will it not then level up to the new level of my main PC at that point? Like in NWN2?

C2B: I hope you meant "They don't need to be!" without the question mark, coz that would be one step in the right direction. I would hate if the game forced me into saying they are my "employees". They could be somebody I've befriended over a few ales, they could be somebody I'm manipulating in order to further my own evil agenda, etc, etc...
-
GD: That is still very weird. I want to make my own party. Choose race, class, gender and background and all the RP-goodies I love. I can "pretend" that I happen to come across them at some Sunken Flagon or Adventurer's Hall, but they are all my little sweet creations, and certainly not hirelings and henchmen, unless I've said that that is what they are.
-
C2B: If it was a character that is "quite stronger than your party", I would never go to that Adventurer's Hall. That sounds weird. Perhaps I've imagined things, but to me Adventurer's Hall means that I will be able to make my own party, something I really, really love doing. My Pcs should all be of roughly the same level, and most importantly, have the RP-traits that I tell them to have.

Ddillon, this is worrying me a bit too. Here are my two cents on this: It's called Adventurer's Hall for a reason, these guys are adventurers, so I expect a motley crew that makes the peeps over at Duncan's Sunken Flagon appear as similar as members of a team of synchronized swimmers. No forced "fee", please. It kills the RPG-bit of it. Far from all adventurers that I can create have gold and valuables on their mind or are pressed for money. Sure, a few of them can be mercenaries, but that's all Perhaps in order to get the Adventurer's Hall to working order you need to do some quest or so (but I doubt that's a very good idea). I want this to work as smoothly for the player as possible.
