  1. I used to play them years ago and I was big Pokemon fan as child.(Who of my age wasn't? ) I would still play those games, but I'm just not interested in Nintendo consoles anymore. Handheld consoles are relics from the past and don't really have any use after smart phones came to market. If Nintendo would swallow their pride and port those for mobile platforms I would be first to buy them. Great and original RPGs. Only minus is that those games lost much of their magic with original 150 Pokemons. As child I remembered all of them by name, appearance and type, but after Silver/Gold/Crystal generation lost track of them. Ruby was last one I ever played. Should maybe try those re-made Red, Blue and Green for nostalgia.
  2. Yes I'm such a serious fellow when it comes to these things. And to be frank, I don't think lots of people take this seriously enough. EA does things for reason: More money. More money from our pockets. I haven't bought EA game since ME2 and I would like to see more people doing the same, because with that new SimCity coming you can clearly see what road gaming industry is currently going down. Price 60€ even for standard Limited Edition, has to be activated through Origin, 5 day-one-DLCs only for buyers of Digital Deluxe/Collector's Edition EDIT: Internet connection required to start the game. Useless to say I won't buy it though I very much would like to, but just going "That's how it is. Nothing I can do about it" is helping even less than "raging" about it online. As for "raging." It might not help, but that's what you do on internet forum anyway. Talk about things. Anything you say here is probably read by handful or, if you get very lucky, possibly few dozen people. It's all just waste of time if you think it that way so please don't play that mentor thing on me. I'll use my time as I wish and say what I think. I'm not here trying to make difference, just to talk. You don't have to read it or reply to it if it's just boring blabber about EA evilness. Best wishes, Your Suomi friend
  3. Nobody's randomly hating EA. Did you read at all what I have been saying here? Do you seriously think me and thousands of others hate them just because that's what everybody does nowdays? If you want to live in your wonderland, see no evil, hear no evil, fine, but accept that some of us have very good reasons to hate their business models and we want to be vocal about it because we want things to change. In this particular matter with "EA crap" I was referring mainly for Origin. I'm not going to support that system, but I'm not going to shut up about it either, because I would like to enjoy some of their games, but idiotic distribution policy is just too big obstacle. Physical complete series boxes are pretty rare, but for example Divinity Anthology box had all games, all DLC and expansions, all soundtracks and lots of other cool stuff in one big package. Whole thing DRM-free. That's how that should be done. I give you that Trilogy isn't necessarily same thing as Complete Pack, but if you see words like Complete, Collection, Trilogy etc. in Steam for example you know exactly what it means: ALL content included. Usually developers even throw some extra fun in those packages to make them more appealing to existing players too. What kind of excuse is that? Basically you are saying "PC-versions were just second class releases and lousy console ports. You have no right to complain." They are releasing and selling their trilogy for PC audience and it's their job to please customers and I sure ain't pleased. May I ask you what exactly are your reasons to defend EA for giving us, the customers, less for our money? With that it's just how things are and we have to live by their rules attitude they are just going to give us less and less as time passes. Customers need to be constantly demanding better treatment or publishers will take every opportunity to squeeze every last coin out of our pocket.
  4. As I mentioned, I'm bugged by the fact that even if I wanted to pay for DLC, I actually have no way of getting it downloaded to my system. I would buy this set just to get the ME2 & ME3 DLC that I was never able to play (including the supposedly improved endings). Waiting for release in GOG.com... in few decades maybe. I yet haven't seen full series box which didn't contain all available content and I think it's not sensible at all from business standpoint. Unless they are relying on people being completely stupid or just after shiny box, because I just checked prices of those games from one online store and you could get all those games separately over 20€ cheaper than that Trilogy-box. (PC versions) Only ME1 DLC is missing, but those were crap anyway. Otherwise: Same content, same games and same EA crap.
  5. I guess they must be pretty good then. When I did little research about these games I also got impression that BD was going to be the least of the three or at least least known. It's probably not bad, just indifferent. Which usually in games means bad, but... well I don't know. I'll see when I get around to it.
  6. Lindsey doesn't need to do gaming covers to be awesome. Most of her stuff isn't gaming covers actually. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf6LD2B_kDQ That's a very wet gorgeous woman who knows how to play violin really well while moving all over the place (yes, I've seen her do it live in front of a crowd). You're argument is invalid. :-P Yes she can move while playing, I'm sure, but she should invent some new moves from time to time. Seeing those same manners over and over again starts to get tiresome and makes me wish she actually stood still and just played for a change. She's just another YouTube artist I have got overdose of. That whole "happy ADHD-elf in woods" thing just annoys me nowdays. EDIT: Oh, and moving doesn't help much on game soundtrack, does it? I hope that didn't discourage you from playing DA:O. 2nd favorite game of all time. Not at all after I read one review which specifically confirmed those artists have nothing to do with actual game or it's soundtrack. Reviewer obviously didn't like the promo campaign either.
  7. Gamebanshees guide/walkthrough was very good. Used it myself and I'm pretty sure I found all interesting dialogue in game: http://www.gamebansh...nescapetorment/ EDIT: Not good for first playthrough, because this really spoils almost everything.
  8. Mass Effect system with three choices for your background worked well for those games at least. Choosing different background made game feel surprisingly different even though it affects only to few conversations. Maybe something like that or predetermined background like in Torment. Then again why not make that background playable? Why not write family, friends and past into the actual plot? RPGs almost always have blank starts with memory loss or some other excuse or just don't care about players past. Maybe there could be several different beginnings that explain your past depending on your choice of class and race. (like seen in Dragon Age: Origins)
  9. I bought Divinity Anthology box and just started Divine Divinity... and I must say I'm very pleasantly surprised, even though I'm only about an hour in. Gameplay in overall feels so smooth and polished (except few little things that might get annoying in longer run) I felt like I had played this game already for couple of hours. Haven't got into story much yet.. in fact not at all, but seems there's some pretty good humor and parody of standard fantasy setting and that's always welcome. Interface is clear and easy to use which is always plus, but best thing about it - which is often overlooked in games - is that you can open and close those windows as you wish, move them around and leave open when needed. Especially handy with large HD monitors. Why don't all games have such system? Best possible first impression, but lets see how it lasts... Funny thing is I bought this game mostly for great commercial the studio released (this has never happened before ), but I can already see there is much fun to be had here. What do you think about these games? Was it good decision and are there some unpleasant surprises waiting for me further in the games? Any tips for newbie? Here is the commercial that made me buy it. Hope this doesn't break the rules of this forum about advertising, but it's very funny anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EA9QggTdsdg&list=PL58106A8E360224ED&index=1&feature=plcp
  10. Question: How badly is Mass Effect 3 binded into Origin? Is it working as multiplayer platform or something, because I'm wondering if there's any change this Trilogy version would be free of that bulls***. I haven't yet bought ME3 because of Origin and I won't till it's available from elsewhere. EDIT: Just looked from Mass Effect website and it seems ME 2&3 don't have DLC included so I guess I have to stop hoping... Well played EA: Sell ME as complete trilogy, but still charge extra for DLC.
  11. Sad, but so true. And we Europeans pay much more. If you look at prices of coming SimCity: 60$ = 60€ for Limited Edition (Read: Less cut edition) 80$ = 80€ for Digital "Deluxe" Edition. (Full game with all cut content) And of course it requires Origin and internet connection every time you start the game. I'm happy to pay little more so they can include state of the art nazi-DRM which helps them to protect their IP couple of days longer. Well, NO! They can keep their copy. It just saddens me that it really looks great and I'm not going to be able to enjoy it while pirates will have their fun anyway. That's why I don't buy new games anymore and if I do, I consider really carefully who I want to support. I think the last game I bought full priced at release day was The Witcher 2. But I'm seeing faint light at the end of the tunnel. Overall it seems this DRM-free movement, which Project Eternity is part of, is getting bigger and bigger all the time and hopefully soon it's big enough that these corporations can't marginalize it anymore. Part of the deal with Project Eternity for me was to support this kind of business model. Maybe we will see the day when EA, Activision and other publishers start once again compete in better quality games and not in who can feed most s*** for their customers and still keep sales and profits up.
  12. Lost? They managed to take something they had no real possibility of making and hence had no prospect of retaining the rights to and got Bethesda to pay them a seven figure sum to settle. Sure, Bethesda got to write a nice statement saying that they won a Glorious Victory but paying $$$ for something you should have got for free and would have done if you were half way competent is hardly winning. I don't know what were the exact details of contract between Interplay and Bethesda (I think Interplay had certain timeline to develop their game which they failed to do) and was the lawsuit legit or not, but 2 million dollars sure isn't lot money in this scale. Not for Bethesda nor did it help Interplay for very long. They probably had already lost nearly that sum in development of their Project V13, which was to be Fallout Online.
  13. @OP: Oh my god, never thought that, but it's so obvious! It has to be true, though we'll never know. Those talks probably were highly confidential. My feelings towards todays Interplay are mix of compassion and shame. They were such a big player in business decade or two back it's pity seeing them in such a deep pit. But that doesn't stop them from acting like they still matter something. Lawsuit with Bethesda was good example: How did they think they could produce even half-decent Fallout MMO with resources they got? Or even win lawsuit against one of the biggest gaming-corporations of our time? And now their senior necromancer has obviously managed to resurrect Black Isle back to life... with two workers from original BIS. We don't know yet, but my guess is it's just a zombie: Yep, it's moving, but mind and spirit are long gone and not coming back. And today they all could buy Interplay anytime they wanted, but why bother when all valuable IP is already sold?
  14. What is the status, can I change the amount now? Will I be contacted any time? Btw.: Hi People! Hi and welcome! You can do what it says in first option. That's probably what Obsidian will ask you to do anyway after they contact you. Just remember to explain what money is for and I think it would also be a good idea to use same email with PayPal as you used with Kickstarter. I don't know how much personal information they exactly get through PP or KS to identify people, but it might be more convenient for them and you. But if you are not sure what to do then just wait for their email or ask them directly, though their answer will probably take a while.
  15. I loved dice poker in The Witcher games... and arm wrestling in Witcher 2. Fistfighting then again... I never really understood mechanics behind it in the first game and in second one it was just plain boring and too easy. Drinking contests were also something that made me really confused, because I didn't see any real game there: You just chose what you want to drink and repeated until your contestant had had enough. Is it even possible to lose one? Another great example was that card game in KOTOR, which's name I can't remember and too lazy to find out. Very addictive and fun when you learned it and had decent deck. So yes, I would like to see some fun gambling minigames.
  16. That system works in strictly linear games where developers know approximately how long it going to take from player to reach certain goals, but the more open ended the game becomes the less that system starts to make sense. Some days would take 4 hours and others 30 minutes. Time skips in other hand are never ok from role-playing perspective: Nothing breaks immersion better than taking control away from player. "Month passes and nothing happens..." for me that's just lazy writing. What's the point of having your character spent five months crafting, hunting clues or drinking in pub if you are not part of it? That sounds like cheating to me. "You crafted for five months. Here are your 10,000 iron swords." :D If you want to craft go craft, if you want to hunt clues go hunt clues, if you want to drink go drink. That's what role-playing means to me.
  17. "Out of what crypt they crawl, I cannot tell, But every night I see the rubbery things, Black, horned, and slender, with membranous wings, They come in legions on the north wind's swell With obscene clutch that titillates and stings, Snatching me off on monstrous voyagings To grey worlds hidden deep in nightmare's well. Over the jagged peaks of Thok they sweep, Heedless of all the cries I try to make, And down the nether pits to that foul lake Where the puffed shoggoths splash in doubtful sleep. But ho! If only they would make some sound, Or wear a face where faces should be found!" - Night-Gaunts, H.P. Lovecraft
  18. Well, I'm sure Chris Avellone, if he happens to stumble over this thread, will find your point remarkably helpful.
  19. Look at bottom of the main page. There is list of people currently browsing this forum. Moderators have orange names. Just PM one and s/he will handle this.
  20. That. Lot of people just looked at the trailers and thought: "Blood, gore and heavy metal. Well, I think this is game for me!" and guess what? Lots of people got disappointed. I know several and in internet I have seen lot more. It's not matter of opinion that the campaign was misleading and stupid. If you are looking into this just from the sales perspective then you have valid point, but otherwise... PS. Yes I own measuring stick for awesomeness. Your argument is invalid.
  21. And the funny thing is I don't think so. They would probably do it pretty cheap to get yet more subscribers, but probably still more than some real professionals if they decide to order whole score from same group. DA:O promotion campaign? Now I honestly think you are just trolling here. That was the most ridiculous fantasy-RPG trailer I had ever seen and I actually doubted after seeing that campaign if the game was for me after all. Marilyn Manson screaming THIS IS THE NEW S***! over that other trailer pushed the bar even lower. Those trailers made me wait for few days before buying just to get confirmation that neither of those artists performed on actual soundtrack. Oh, the horrible memories. And I like 30 Seconds to Mars by the way.
  22. This made me very very sad because it might be true in couple of years. To think all the great studios EA has sucked dry. Bioware has already acquired reputation as bad community listeners and arrogant attitude of few employees certainly doesn't help that. It seems that game by game they anger more of their dedicated fans. They still sell huge amounts of games, but so did Bullfrog couple of years before it's demise. Pattern is the same: EA acquires studio, in couple of years original founders leave the sinkking ship and then it's just matter of time when the end comes. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
  23. That's because they are not so special. They are just good looking girls who covered some game music, which then made nerds go crazy about them. OMG GAMERRR GURRLLZZZ!! There are much more talented people out there who have something more to show for themselves than 100,000 YouTube subscribers. Be that as it may. That was not my argument. Same thing would be said no matter which "famous" person would be put forward here. It's enough to read the arguments people have against any of these. I personally don't have a preference either way. I trust the creators to choose what works best. These girls can (will) still continue to make covers and promote the game that way, because that's what they love to do and a lot of people enjoy it. Actually that's partly right. Choosing too famous person to sing some song in game would take attention out of actual content. In game or film music has to be in background and be brought forward only in special occasions like I mentioned in my first post. Music has to serve game/film, not other way around. I'm not against hiring famous people if they just don't make it one of their selling points. They should be chosen for their talent, not the fame, which excludes Malukah and Stirling right away. Stirling is ok, but there are probably tons of ugly middle aged men who do the same job much better for half the price.
  24. That's because they are not so special. They are just good looking girls who covered some game music, which then made nerds go crazy about them. OMG GAMERRR GURRLLZZZ!! There are much more talented people out there who have something more to show for themselves than 100,000 YouTube subscribers.
  25. As his title says he's Lead Audio Designer. I think it's too early to say if he's going to compose the soundtrack himself or will they have some contract composer do it. Bell did music for KS trailer and that was great, but Lead Audio Designer surely sounds like job with lots of responsibilities so I doubt if he has time to do all work just by himself. We'll see.
