I want ALPHA PROTOCOL 2 or similar videogame! Please!
I would love another Alpha Protocol (or, barring that, a spiritual successor with the same kind of character development). I don't understand why it didn't do that great. Sure, the combat was kind of minimalist but I thought it was fun, and I'm not really a spy movie person.

Do you want Alpha Protocol 2?
I just beat the game for the first time last night. I'd love another Alpha Protocol!

If there was only one RPG to be saved in the world I would choose.....
I can't choose between Arcanum, Planescape: Torment, or Skyrim. If no more RPGs are going to be made, I want something with a ton of replayability and pretty scenery. (Okay, so the older games aren't as pretty, but they're both so interesting.) *looks at her pile of RPGs* Actually, maybe I'll get back to you, I have a lot of JRPGs I'll miss too.....

Anyone else happy there is no 'Raise Dead'-like spell?
RosesandAshes replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I like this idea because then I don't have to pick up all the gear my companions drop, drag their body back to a temple, find out I don't have enough gold for a resurrect spell, raise money for a resurrect spell, companion dies, wash, rinse, repeat.

Update #24: Less than 30 Hours to go! Life and Death, and Audio CD Soundtrack!
What's with all the arguing? I'd love an objective-based XP system, personally, but I have nothing against an XP-per-kill system (other than I'd prefer to minimize grinding in my game, grinding is boring) and I find that looting a tough enemy and being like: "Ooh, look at this neat sword they dropped!" is its own reward. Killing the drakes in DA was satisfying because not only did I take out a tough foe, I get all these cool treasure piles to loot (which only contained like, two items, but I digress). I think an objective-based system gives the player more freedom to consider other options besides "let's just smash their skulls in and be done with it!"

Movement speed....
RosesandAshes replied to RosesandAshes's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The only CRPG I've played where I could tolerate the movement speed is Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition, but I haven't played it in a while so I can't remember how it compares to the IE games. I'm playing Arcanum right now, and the speed's tolerable. Here's a gameplay vid of Heretic Kingdoms:

Do I see guns and gunpowder ? I hope not :S
On the subject of guns in fantasy worlds, Arcanum would like a word with all the naysayers.

Idea: Remove of quest markers and inclusion of detailed journal.
I'd like something that tells me where each quest giver is as well as the location of my objective. Sometimes I take on multiple quests in the same area, and suddenly I'm like "Wait, where is the person who gave me this quest again?" The option to add notes like "he's next to the blacksmith, you fool!" would be great for this.

Big City #2- 3.5mil. stretch goal
I don't think we can do it, honestly, unless we get a biiiiiiiiig push these past few days, but I love urban environments so I'd love a big city!

Update #20: Lore Tidbits, Campaign Almanac, Big Ol' Stretch Goals, and... Environment Screenshot!
You came through and gave me a super awesome screenshot AND a campaign almanac? This makes me happy. I don't think we'll be able to make all the stretch goals, though, but I'm pleased with what we have (still, a big city would be nice). Unfortunately, I've reached my limit for what I can afford to pledge.

My fwiw kickstarter economic analysis regarding the rift between the traditionalists and evolutionists
I guess I'm a Biowarian, I'm 26, never played a PnP game, like BioWare's RPGs, been playing the IE games recently. (Although I'm taking a break from DnD based games to play Arcanum.) I like the direction that PE is going. I'm not expecting that it'll be an exact copy of my favourite IE game (which right now would be PS:T) but I am expecting that it will take what was great about those games with a bit of innovation here and there, otherwise all we get is an enhanced port of BG, and I have regular BG if I want that.

If you had to choose, which is more important: plotline or world?
RosesandAshes replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That's a good point, the first grid-based strategy RPG I ever played was Fire Emblem (the seventh one), and there really wasn't much world-building and the plot was....typical, but I liked watching the characters build relationships with each other and would restart levels endlessly if it meant so-and-so wouldn't die (FE has permadeath). I know that Shadow Dragon was the first in the series and thus didn't have the features that the seventh or eighth had, but I stopped playing it because I just couldn't relate to any of the characters (and they actually rewarded you for killing characters off).

RosesandAshes replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I can't choose! I don't play Skyrim for the plot, I play it because I like exploring and discovering new things in the world (and, TBH, I've always found the side quests with a bit of story to them (not just "bring me 10 of ___" fetch quests) to be way more memorable than the main quest). I agree that PS: T did well with both aspects.

2.3 mil Mark Broken
RosesandAshes replied to Darth Trethon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Truth be told, I.....pretty much ignore crafting systems....I just use the loot I pick up from dead enemies. It might not get me the most powerful sword, but I just don't feel like traipsing back to the nearest blacksmith when the adventuring is done. Still, it is a stepping stone to the Cipher class.....

2.3 mil Mark Broken
RosesandAshes replied to Darth Trethon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Hooray! Now the masochists can quit complaining that Obsidian is "pandering to the casual gamers". I'm really excited for the 2.5 and 2.6 goals though.
