  1. The hilarious part about these people - in this case the "I will withdraw my pledge if the game doesn't have transgender characters and furry romances rabble rabble" guys - is that they'll talk the talk (over and over and over in thread after thread after thread...), but they won't actually walk the walk. Applies to pretty much any time players DEMAND anything: The other problem is that most players don't actually want what they think they want and it's up to the devs to figure it out and filter the legit, well thought out suggestions (of which there have been loads, in this and other forums) from generic whining.
  2. This is clearly true, but my bet is on them mostly withholding such information until the end of the Kickstarter campaign, even if they have already made their minds up with regards to some points. Which, I'm sure, isn't the case with all gameplay mechanics - e.g. I don't think they've actually decided what to do with resting and spell cooldowns yet. Same goes for potentially rage-inducing storyline decisions as well (romances, most notably). Why piss off your consumers while they can still withdraw the money they're planning to give you?
  3. Thanks a bunch for posting that! Posts like this go a long way in allaying the fears that PE will turn out to be just another modern Awesome™ and/or Emotionally Engaging™ pseudo-RPG. That is, it's nice to see that you guys can, at least, talk the talk. I feel like some of the devs are being a bit too harsh on the IE games, though - sure, some of their features weren't the best ever (such as the RTwP combat, but you're not changing that, so...), but the success of the Kickstarter is, after all, mostly based on the fact that so many people liked them.
  4. I'm happy with just supporting the devs. If they decide to include the Order in-game, I don't think it should play a major part, a mention in lore should be enough.
  5. Isn't the size of your e-peen important to you? Because it should be.
  6. The really creepy part is that there are people who'd actually love this sort of stuff (like the aforementioned T. Goodkind fans). Wasn't there some horrible Imoen romance mod for BG2 that allowed the player to beat her up when she started making googly eyes?
  7. Karranthain, that's awesome! I still listen to the old Might & Magic soundtracks every now and again.
  8. I think what made the IE games good wasn't the engine but the story and the gameplay - i.e. it's possible to make games as good using modern technology as well, which is hopefully what we'll be getting here.
  9. That's cool, but you know as well as I do that when that happens, there'll be a deluge of posts from the same people demanding gay/furry/transgender romance arcs. There's already been a few. I'm not sure that situation would be preferrable to the status quo. An unrealistic Kickstarter stretch goal would be nice, though, to get more money out of them - I'm thinking something in the region of 4M.
  10. I'm fine with no voices at all. Like most people here, I'd prefer the old IE style, though - partial voicing for important characters/important lines of dialogue. Every random NPC doesn't need a voice saying "I saw a mudcrab the other day".
  11. Thanks for clarifying that, Bobby! As long as there's harder difficulties for people who like challenge, I don't think anybody will actually mind an "easy mode" added for noobs.
  12. I have to admit whenever I hear "stylized" nowadays I think of WoW, Torchlight, LoL, etc. Shudder. Although I do remember one of the devs saying they aren't going for a cartoony aesthetic, so I guess we're sort of safe there. As to 3D modeling, I agree - in addition, it just doesn't age well, just look at something like BG1 in comparison to, say FF7.
  13. I'd like no classes at all - instead, let the characters' capabilities be defined by what skills they actually train/use.
  14. I'm thinking at least 5*[number of races], so we'd have: straight guy gay guy straight girl lesbian girl transgendered ...of every race. We gotta have different orientations so everyone is represented and a transgendered love interest of every race, lest the romances be immersion breaking. Every race needs to have romance options, of course, they can't all be human (or whatever the default race is) - so we'd also get the furries covered. If the BSN people are cool with interracial, though (they seem to be, I think someone mentioned romancing Garrus in Mass Effect, ugh...), we might not need love interests of every race and we could cut it down to less than 5 years worth of writing, I guess.
  15. Like most people here I've given all I can reasonably afford, I'm afraid.
  16. Yeah, the problem is that when an RPG has romance as a major focal point of the game, ALL the discussion about the game suddenly becomes about that. Just look at the Dragon Age boards on BSN.
  17. I think the resources can be spent better and I kinda doubt the game will end up having the kind of graphical fidelity that makes finishers worthwhile. In short: no. If they do end up doing something like this, though, then they'd better also add an option to turn it off.
  18. I think Bioware has some of those copyrighted for their upcoming Dragon Age 4: The Douchening (working title).
  19. Same here - but remember that ActiBlizz owns the rights to it, so unless someone buys them, chances are that if Arcanum 2 is ever made it's going to be a crapfest.
  20. Too subtle - I think the sequel should be The Watcher 2: Assassins of Souls.
  21. Either separate or skippable is fine with me. As long as we don't have to go through the PE equivalent of Chateau Irenicus every single time.
  22. I see durability mainly as a goldsink to help combat inflation in MMORPGs. I don't think there's need for such a mechanic in a single-player game.
