  1. Time for another poll. Since we already have concept art for PE following two distinct styles, I'm curious on what the the community's preference is.
  2. Quick interview with Adam Brennecke http://penny-arcade....t-eternity-and- (already posted on the forums here, but also posting it here for completeness sake)
  3. I'm _really_ not fond of this type of artwork direction. Can't we go back to the same style as the dwarf ranger? Please?
  4. effing reddit, how does it work? Just registered on it to see if I get my questions answered. But I don't understand how it orders posts. I have 2 questions (one about skills, the other about game reactivity in relation to Arcanum), they have 6 and 7 points, but are still below some with less points. (technically I asked 3, but the 3rd only has 2 points) And I find it odd so many people want to know about classes (me too), but don't care about skills
  5. I'm really tired of this boobplate drama. If there's anything wrong with them it's the fact they should be more oval towards up, so that the armor fits more women. Anyway, let's talk about groin plate from now on http://www.wemma.org.uk/armour.shtml
  6. From a morphologic POV Dragonoids are quite similar to Lizards However, due to the physical similarity to tieflings I doubt we would get both. And tieflings look p. c. to me. (and asimar are just another human looking race)
  7. Agreed on having gods similar to the Greek ones. But I disagree with the need for followers. However, having followers and having them do their bidding would be an advantage.
  8. I liked the dwarf ranger concept art they posted. But I really don't fancy what was posted today. It reminds me of DA:O. I prefer an artistic direction to a realistic one.
  9. I already mentioned my opinion on the first page (wall of text detracted users?), but since so many are still mentioning scrolls and books, or being a hostage of the town's loremaster... While in theory having to carry or read books or scrolls to identify or increase your lore skill makes sense, the problem is that it breaks the gameplay system. The best solution is to have a lore skill that is increased like any other skill. The books and lore should still be in the game like in BG2. As item descriptions and stories.
  10. *shrugs* not really happy with Obsidian opting in with the translation. I'd rather have them spend the money elsewhere. I wonder how much does a translation costs. (and no, english is not my first language) Looking forward for the talks by JS, CA and TC during this week.
  11. This creature, when encountered, might grant a wish, disembowel and neatly arrange your body parts, talk nonsense, take an ear as a souvenir, or do any combination of the former. Now that's a cool deity. /not sure if want furthermore, /not sure if understood First you say you don't want deities interacting with the world and then you give the example of the Weaver. I also don't understand what you mean regarding leaving supernatural occurrences unexplained. Magic? No proof? No proof that deities exist? I have the opposite opinion about this matter, I'll just copy paste what I said here It seems we are looking for different type of implications. I'm looking for a more gameplayish thing, while you seem to be asking philosophical but (to my eyes) more void of gameplay. As for the philosophic side of things, I'd rather have characters that worship gods, characters that believe in the divine as something impossible to attain, characters that see gods as Übermensch but that can still be killed, characters that refuse to worship or obey the gods, and anything in between. "If you have the arrogance of a god and can kill like a god, who's to say you are not a god?" — Winski Perorate
  12. mmm... why do you lurk at romance threads then? The truth is worse than what metiman said. Since the male counterpart seems to be more interested in sex simulators (why are the most popular mods the nude or sex ones?). If that fits the male stereotype or the horny male stereotype or the forever alone stereotype, I really don't care. I'd say there is interest from both guys and girls, although a different percentage. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I'm now in favor of having the modding toolkit. That will make possible to have all sorts of romances and variations. * available at your loverslab dealer * Let's face it, Avellone is not a romance writer, it's not what he does, therefore making him do such a thing would just torment him. Just let the man write companions as he sees fit without any romantic demands.
  13. How is this different from what you have in D&D? PLEASE let's not derail this into a religious discussion and get the topic locked.
  14. Yes I would. But only for really high level stuff (maybe 4 or 5 spells). This makes the player appreciate them more and also to have this stay budget friendly. Although technically these would be cinematics, so I doubt we'll have this. It may be better to simply invest more on particle effects.
  15. (was going to start a new thread on interaction with the gods, but I think this one is adequate) I'd like to see gods interacting with the world, and more importantly allow for interaction with the player. In ToEE a very memorable encounter was the one with Lareth. When he's almost dead he tries to dissuade you, (I don't recall the details), but he then curses you and says "Lloth, help me", and 3 giant spiders are summoned. I'd like for both NPCs and the PC to be able to worship and submit to a god, give offerings and perform tasks for him, and in return he would help you out when you asked for help. Note that there is lot of room here to balance and adapt this to the god's personality (he may as well ignore or betray you). For example, suppose that you make a pact with a god which allows you to summon 2 of his "pets", but in return he will eat out part of your soul (ie: you lose a point on one of your attributes). The gamers of the new school will probably say "that is stupid, I'll just reload". But for me, and I bet for the ones playing as ironman, this can be a real life saver. Also, it would be fun to betray a god in some way or the other
  16. Racial cleansing you say... /lol I would be ok with this, apart from the fact that I don't want any godlike party to be able to wipe an entire population in a region (a village is ok, a city maybe... a whole region... no way!) Anyway, back on topic: so what races are you exactly proposing?
  17. The whole point of the KickStarter is to not have to do things in a certain way to please a broader crowd. Well by looking at your post count I assume you've been around for a while and seen your share of "disagreement". Yes, I know this is not about making "my" or anyone's game, but I do see two different groups of people here. The ones who want a more old school gameplay (influenced by PST, FO1/2, Arcanum, ToEE, IWD1/2, BG1/2), and the ones who want... well... a PC biowarish gameplay (influenced by BG2, ME1-3, DA1-2, tv tropes, my little pony). And so far none of us has seen the outcome of a KS videogame project. I could be wrong, but it's the way I see it.
  18. Dear OP, I'm not worried about companions. I'm not even mad worried about the story. But I'm somewhat worried about game themes and world *cough* tv tropes and other fanaticisms *cough* And I'm worried about the mechanics. My main concern is having Tim forced to do things in a certain way to please a broader crowd.
  19. A pure barter system won't work on all locations all the time. Well, technically it would but it would likely annoy the hell out of everyone. Considering we won't be starting the game like in FO or get the chance to visit some remote island, it doesn't make much sense. A pure coin system always ends up on the ridiculous side of things, with the PC having dozens or hundreds of thousands of coins. With both of that in mind, a scenario where each merchant has a certain number of coins and wares, and if you deplete his coins it will take a while for him to refill... is what I'd like to see. But in any case, a copper, silver, gold coin system (like in ToEE) would be good to have and avoid the unrealistic "oh I have 3,565,235 coins of gold in this bag" scenario.
  20. goblins... j/k this one is a cool goblin and this one is not a bad insectoid at all although I prefer the aracnoids
