  1. Seriously. Besides "why do games cost money", "why do people need to be paid" is the next most common complaint.
  2. So, anyone watching this? Yeah, sure, 90% of their programming this year is docudrama BS, but there's still some good stuff.
  3. Starting up Good Morning, Vietnam.
  4. Uhm no. Per the head of Larian themselves Divinity: Original Sin had a budget of around 5 million euro's which is more than 6 million US dollars. Obsidian had a budget of about 4.5 million USD. So Larian had at least a million more to play with, combined with the fact that they had their own in house engine to use which saved tons of time and resources which equates directly to money saved for other parts of the game. Wasteland 2's graphics looking good is a matter of opinion so there is nothing wrong disagreeing with me. That said I think the UI is painfully bad, the environment art is okay, but the character models are flat awful and look straight out of year 2002. You're a bit wrong. You're counting Larian's budget with Early Access on steam vs POE with no Early Access. If you compare KS vs KS then POE had double the amount. When POE is available at Steam Early Access you can be sure as hell it will make more than D:OS. They recently updated UI. It changed a lot from when I first tried beta. It's better now. Not the most beautiful but it works and is thematically fitting. Char models do look bad indeed. If PoE goes Early Access, none of that will go into development.
  5. I'm pretty sure mocking a dead person counts as a valid reason to report a post. You make me sick.
  6. When you know you are going to lose an argument, always fall back to the dictionary, where context doesn't matter.
  7. Every Kickstarter backer got into the beta. If you really have a hankering, it's on Steam for $50.
  8. I'm not Obsidian, so don't take my word for it, but: 1) The Kickstarter rewards were for Kickstarter. I would assume that what is up now is just a pre-order. 2) It most likely will be $40.Either way, it's less now.
  9. Original Sin funded less but was made for a few hundred thousand more than Eternity. No way a game that good is made for $890k.
  10. Sad, sad day. Nothing left to add.
  11. Yup. So, really, Wasteland 2, with most likely a ping-ponging of Eternity and Dwagon Age.
  12. What? As stated before, it would impact it by the game being very close to going gold. They are not going to shoehorn in hours of work just because. They budgeted for a timetable. They reached that.
  13. The sadist troll in me is going to have a belly full of lols when people start complaining about the actual price. Which will most likely be around the high 30s, low 40s.
  14. I'm expecting far less than the WL2 beta - which is half the game. So basically, maybe I'm expecting 3-6 hours.
  15. The game is coming out in a few months. We're getting a playable beta in a week and a half on my birthday. So it is an incredibly safe assumption to make that the story is baked into the game at this point. Delaying the game to add stuff in would mean rewriting the entire script and programming new scenes. They want to hit their deadline of this year. This is not about cost. It's about logistics.
  16. Selfish? Donated? Meybe if I would do this via Kickstarter then yes - but I've pledged my money via obsidian.net site and I've done this in exchange for very specific stuff: 1 Digital Download of Pillars of Eternity 35.00 35.00 1 Early Access Beta Key 25.00 25.00 Please, do enlighten us as to the differences between donations and pledges.
  17. For my birthday, I'm having my friend make up a set of portraits for Torment, Wasteland 2, and Eternity.
  18. Know what is great at ruining your credibility in a thread? Making up quotes to demonize the other side.
  19. People really need to stop acting like this is a pre-order where the money is just there to give back. They spent the money and the game is locked. You donated money. How selfish does it sound to want money you donated given back? And demanding a port? In two weeks?
  20. Borderlands and South Park were satires (BL2 more than 1). They set out to accomplish very different things than a serious RPG. Eternity is most likely going to be along the lines of Baldur's Gate and Original Sin. Self-aware but still dramatic. Humor is inevitable. It's a part of life.
