  1. And just what is american culture? This? Because I'll embrace peyote and horse riding. For starters it's being fluent in English. Beyond that, I don't care what it is.
  2. That's a bit of a contradiction, isn't it? Multiculturalism implies they don't have much use for your culture. That's not accurate at all. Multiculturalism works best when all cultures are being respected and celebrated by everyone in the community. And...where has this happened? All over the US? I work at a school with any religion and ethnic group you could name. Sikhs and Muslims, Persians and Jews, Japanese and Koreans, Indians and Pakistanis. You name it, we got it. They keep their cultures and traditions, I get a wide selection of dining choices. edit: For a bigger example, you can look at how Mexican-Americans thrive all over the US, or how Vietnamese-Americans adjusted after coming over in large numbers after the Vietnam War. Well the glass is half full for you. My mother is an ESL teacher, and she can't say enough about how immigrants don't give a rat's ass about integrating, speaking English or embracing American culture. It's grab as grab can. If you think multiculturalism works, you are deluded. It has never fully worked, especially in modern times. Angela Merkel said it best: multiculturalism has utterly failed.

  4. He's now charged with second degree murder. http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/08/19/toronto-police-officer-charged-with-second-degree-murder-in-streetcar-shooting-death-of-sammy-yatim/ Abuse of power? Maybe. But then pulling his **** out and wielding a knife on a bus may have complicated things a bit.
  5. Of course some of them are immigrants. A moot point though, as the poisonous ideology is the issue. I thought the Tsarnaev brother illustrated that perfectly.
  6. We have Russia to blame for that schlock? Feel free to take it back any time.
  7. Agreed. What muslims have done in Europe is burrowed in and tried to enforce their own sick codes of justice, while enjoying the freedom of a democratic society. It's hard to find a greater example of hypocrisy. If they don't like the law of the land in Europe, they can go back home.
  8. @ Walsingham: Isn't that what they want? For everyone to be looking over their shoulder, living in fear? It's an important step to take and I applaud the man for denouncing terrorists. He's safer doing it in Britain than he is in the middle east.
  9. Someone help that poor woman, she's having a seizure.
  10. How accommodating of them, lol. The Christians could just replace Allah with Flying Spaghetti monster and suffer no spiritual set backs.
  11. But with some of the best looking ladies around. Credit where it's due.
  12. I was rooting for the boar.
  13. Meh forget it, not worth arguing over.
  14. Lets just pull things back a bit here. You simply said "Islam" before. You appear to be moving the goalposts somewhat.... If it's an Islam thing, then it doesn't matter where the Islaming is happening. And the comment was silly because teenage women stating opinions (or really anyone stating opinions) throws all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds on the defensive. Plenty of Islamic (and non-Islamic) people championing Malala, so your blanket statement about the Muslim religion is incorrect. Or, as I put it, silly. This doesn't answer the question. How are independent free-thinking women perceived in Islamic countries? Not American or European countries with muslims, but countries run by muslims?
  15. It's pretty amazing what CDPR managed to squeeze out of the Aurora Engine. More like a miracle. Parts of the game are stunning to look at. Just picked up B-17 Flying Fortress and Free Space 2. They are getting quite the selection of indies lately. My bank account hates GoG.
  16. This organisation is destroying the chemical weapons cache of a dictator who has killed thousands. In bloody a war zone. Of course they deserve it.
  17. Because you made a blanket statement against an entire religion. I could claim that all it takes to send male gamers into a froth is a young woman claiming that women are poorly represented in games. Just see the ****storm that gets pulled up there. A teenage girl with an opinion can freak out a lot of people regardless of whether or not they are a follower of Islam. Then how do you think, in general, women are viewed in Islamic countries? It really depends on the country. Again it is a blanket statement. Plus the fact that Islam exists in every country, not just those with an Islamic government. Of course it depends on the country. Countries in the middle east, Afghanistan, they treat women like crap. Muslims in western countries or America have less opportunity to do so because they are in western countries, with different social norms. The issue I see here is people want to excuse the atrocities of another religion so that they can safely justify their own. The other issue is being politically correct for the sake of it..." yes, Islam does that, but Merica is equally bad in this..." please. We are talking about basic human rights here, and North America has at least gotten that much right. You can actually speak your opinion without being stoned to death.
  18. Do you like other machines, then? Just these:
  19. The controller looks pretty damn good to me. Certainly better than what we have now.

  21. Read or Die is one of my favorites. The intro is golden. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsBpraFks0Y
  22. That's the trick with these infallible holy texts. It's still about individual interpretation.
  23. Dismissing religion as superstition has always puzzled me. It seems like an incredibly simplistic way to view human nature and spirituality. It's all about separating our emotions from the facts, which isn't simple to do at all. Human spirituality in indeed complex but that says nothing about whether it is factual. @Alan. How is my statement silly? Al-Qaeda was threatened enough by an educated woman that they shot her. Their vehicle for discussion, their ideals, are rooted in Islam. Seeing how the majority of women in the Islamic world don't share the same freedom and respect that they do in western countries...well.
  24. She is very impressive for someone so young who has been through what she has been through It also begs the question " what type of people would shoot a 15 year old girl for wanting women to be educated" And these are the types of the people the West is suppose to negotiate with in places like Afghanistan Probably anyone who's had to deal with the prosecutor I had yesterday. Al it takes for Islam to be threatened is a teenage girl with an opinion.
