It was jarring that everybody treated you pretty much the same regardless of race, which made it feel false and unrealistic. I mean, It would have been refreshing to see you get treated completely different based on your race, even an occasional "Human scum" thrown my way when around elves, dwarves or other would have been nice. Godlike should be feared the most since they are so supposedly rare. Pallegina gave this big speech about her being mistreated by her race and what hardship she had..yet, nothing really like that happens around you except for some very rare token moments.

I am pretty sure there was some high profile women who said she was an idiot too, again, I guess THOSE voices do not matter either? Also, she is a scientist that never contributed anything in her sad little life and probably never will after this mess. The only thing she will be infamous for is the person who made a guy cry on national TV about a shirt.

Regarding OP, yea, honestly that came to mind when this happened as well. This has nothing to do with being offended, this is just people/crazy/trolls getting off on making big companies bend to their will. They just wrap themselves around the shield of social justice so they can accuse and bully people of being an -ist (racist, trasphobist..etc). The previous generations hid behind the bible, this is just this generations version. They find something to be "offended" about and then group together to dogpile it. If it wasn't for this it would have been something else they would have been offended about in this game. I am just glad to see more and more people are tired of it and calling them out on it now.

The whole resting mechanic is horrible thanks to the loading screen hell. The keep makes me scratch my head on what they were event thinking when designing it. Resting bonuses defiantly should stack and as soon as your in the keep you should be able to rest anywhere. They should also probably get rid of, or definitely lower getting tired from traveling, hey you went to your keep to rest? Great, now when you travel back you are tired again...what the hell?!?!?! Resting and the loading screens are glaring flaws in this game.

Reduce the Loading Times...
Badmojo replied to SlickMajestic's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am pretty sure loading plus auto saving each loading screen is one of the culprits. It wasn't that big of a deal early in the game, but as time passes and you have to go back and forth a lot for quests/other, it got more and more annoying till it turned into a special hell. I agree about brighthollow, it should have just been turned into one big map with boundries, there is no reason to break it up like that. Also, why only load one map at all? Why not load maps that are close together at the same time in the background, that way when you transfer from one, to another, it is instantaneous. -
Better without stronghold?
Badmojo replied to halfoat's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I agree with this, the stronghold feels like an afterthought and only half assed it without thinking it through. Whoever though putting beds on the second floor and having to go through two+ loading screens should be fired. Resting is a MAJOR gripe with me and a stupid design. It isn't just horrible resting, it is not even just the stupid time sink traveling to a place to rest to magically heal and recharge your magic, it is not even the stupid camping limitations, its the damn loading screens of hell that just pushes me over the edge. Just general exploring is tedius and painful. Did anybody do any optimizing on this game at all? I do not understand how something like this can take so long loading while other games with much more on their map can be almost instantaneous to load. I wish there was a fast travel/teleportation in this game just to avoid the loading screen hell. -
Actually, being able to explore a world in first person is actually a cool idea, buuuut I am not sure I would want bethesdas engine doing it. Bethesda has been using the same exact engine for years....correction...decades, instead of spending time creating a new one from scratch, they just keep patching up their old one so it is just more prettier, but it does not solve the horrible underlying issues infesting it. Going on a bit of a tangent, bethesda makes pretty worlds, but that is it and that is all they focus on. The combat is horrible, the NPC's are just walking sign posts with no personality, the missions are heavily on rails, the stories are uninspiring, the world is soulless and borring. Their older games morrowind was pretty good, but that is before they gave their souls away to consoles. The only game that actually made me feel I was in a real RPG setting in first person was the awesome Vampire the masquerade Bloodlines by Troika. Something like that would be good. The only real issue with First Person games is party management, especially during combat. The best would be something like vats, but also being able to switch to third person standard PRG controls also.

I agree with OP, not just the PC characters, but most of the characters in general. The only difference I can tell is how tall the NPC/PC characters are, they all look the same to me, cannot tell species, race, etc. MY group is a mess durring fights, cant tell one from the other most of the time during battles. Kind of wish all interactive or at least important NPC's had their own portraits when interacting with them.

Because some people want dark souls POE edition and insult people who do not like that style of play. I would like the game to go at least back to BG level of resting at least, POE resting is just unfun, unnecessary, and flat out annoying. There is no strategic value in it except adding tediumness to the game. Its way more prevelant when you play a wizard, did anybody actually do a Q and A as only a wizard? Can't really see anybody enjoying the wizard class with the current resting system in place and only spamming rods/wands most of the time.
-
Pretty much correct, the game is BORRING for wizards since your just auto attacking with your wand. It is just a bad game design. Limiting resting adds nothing. Strategy? Please, what a joke. The game is NOT hard after a certain level, but it is boring, and some things have me scratching my head. BG and others were way better for wizards than this mess. I cannot help but feel whoever came up with this design just did not like wizards.
-
Again, wizards are not playing wizards, they are playing gunslingers with the current system because you get punished for playing an actual wizard and using spells in fights. Also, can anybody explain why the hell you have an UNLIMITED stash, but we have limited camping supplies? Camping supplies that break down after one use? There is zero logic in this.
-
because its a bad design? Should have been an optional toggle for normal settings and just remove rest limits for easy settings at least. Hard settings makes sense that it would be a fixed limited number.
-
Are you playing a wizard? because it really, really, really sucks for wizards. Look at the negative reviews on the steam page, just about all of them point to the rest mechanic as a horrible idea. In BG, you had limited spells, BUT you had unlimited resting. In POE, somebody got the stupid idea to limit the spells AND resting. It does not add strategy, it just adds unnecessary tedium and makes you not play your wizard class as a wizard, but a boring someone who has a magic spamming gun.
-
My character is a Wizard, so I am definitely double hit bad with the horrible resting mechanic. Truth be told, I got into the habit of never using my spells, because I always think I will need them for some boss or tough encounters. Which makes the wizard class borrrrrriiiing since all I do is spam the auto attack. Ok, what about auto recharging/resting when you switch between maps? Or at least when you are in a dungeon type area with a lot of floors? Whatever is done, the resting mechanic needs a major change, it just sucks the fun out of the game (at least for me).

This, however, is not fake. What? The offended are still not pleased after Obsidian bowed down to them and they demand more? I am shocked, SHOCKED I SAY! /s. These people get off on bullying others and making big name companies like obsidian bow down and beg for forgiveness from them. Giving in to them on anything is the first mistake because they will always just come back demanding more.

I really do not see the point of resting, it just breaks up the flow and forces you to run all the way back to an inn to restock on comping supplies and take a nap. What is ironic is that going far away (like 22 hours away) to a distant area tires your group and forces you to rest/use up a camping supply to take off a tired debuf! It would not be so bad if it wasn't for all the damn loading screens you have wait on to switch between maps. While DAO was a more dumbed down RPG, it had some interesting ideas and was still a true RPG before EA ruined bioware (RIP Bioware!). I actually liked the recharge mechanic per encounter. You could keep fighting/exploring without having to stop or rest. It was actually refreshing. Another thing I think DAO had that was interesting was creating a camp SITE. A location where your party was sitting around and you had time to talk, unwind, get to bond with your companions, could buy/trade new equipment, and Change party memebers..etc. It might be something Obsidian might consider. While we can talk to our team anywhere, the camp could be a place where more dialog options might appear and more than one party member can talk in a group along with random NPC's coming to your comp to talk, trade, sing, tell stories..etc. Obsidian should at least let us sleep at abandoned camp sites, or at homes of people we helped (ask of course). On a side note, I do think Obsidian did go a little overboard with the monster encounters, you can't walk a few feet in a new map before hitting a monster. Would been more fun and balanced to be at an interesting locations with interesting things going on that was not a monster encounter.

Regarding the OP post. This is EXACTLY what happens when you give into a group of crazy people who spend all day finding things to be offended about. They smell blood and will keep coming back for more. Problematic issues that will come up from the offended twitter side soon: Children dying Women getting killed/murdered Why are women weak? Why is there not more diverse characters (non white) Why is there not more people with different sexual orientations Why can't the PC be a trans person? The hanging tree Prostitutes Why is there not a even 50/50 split of women to men ratio? etc...etc...etc. Obsidian/Josh opened a can of worms when they caved in to the crazy people. This will just be the tip of the iceberg of complaints coming soon. The majority are NOT gamers, in fact most hate gaming and their culture. However, it is now a hot platform to shove their political ideology on. They are not going away and you will NEVER please them, but you will hurt your own gaming fans and your own artistic freedom by listening and giving in to them. Obsidian have nobody to blame but themselves for this mess.

Keep needs a serious overhaul
Badmojo replied to Ichthyic's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I agree with op about the money pit. How the hell am I losing more money than taking in? That defeats the whole point of the keep. I also would like to see some GOOD people come in, so far its all been bad people. I do love the keep, but want more stuff to do with it. -
Where are you getting the request bit? He says right there Obsidian asked him, which implies they contacted him not the other way around. Regardless the issue isn't about that, its about the fact Obsidian rolled over for some wacko (look at that persons tweets, complete wacho) enough to contact the creator to ask them to change it in the first place.
