  1. I believe I saw Feargus state that the expansion was intended for just one of those copies, but he'd have to double check. My guess is that is how it'll work, just the one expansion per pledge not one for each copy. Found the quote on the BSN: Question: I have pledged for the $80 tier with two digital copies of the game, my question is, if I pledge an extra $20 does that apply to one or both keys? also someone else asked for the $165 tier that also includes two copies of the game, does the expansion apply to one or both keys? I would like an answer to the first question, but I guess the second question would interest anyone who has pledged to the $165 tier Feargus: At $165 we include one copy of the expansion. Like each additional add-on of the game costing $25. Each additional add-on of the expansion is $20.
  2. I think the PE logo is where his face will be when the game gets going - could be wrong however.
  3. Did you read what Sawyer said at PCGamer interview? This makes sense. Otherwise you would do all the optional quests first, and then would simply storm through the main plot without any challenge and thus breaking any suspension of disbelief. On another subject, will Obsidian please record the future UStreams?!!! Not everyone is able to watch them live. I missed the first stream with Adam at his office. Did anyone record it? (will have to be repeating this one until someone from OE comments) Just watching Adam's current livestream and he says he's found yesterdays recording (and he's recording this one). He'll post it when he's finished the current one, possibly on youtube, but as it's 4 hours long he's not yet sure where he can.
  4. How about Confused Dog of the Obsidian Order? Matches your avatar. Ha, was just changing it to a more fitting one but thanks anyway.
  5. To a large extent I'm with you OP in that I hate guns in fantasy settings. However from what I've read they have a very limited role, and I'm trusting enough of the development team they've assembled that it's going to blend in with the gameworld without being jarring.
  6. From Russia With Love was quite a good movie too!
  7. Bearing in mind there's around 60K in paypal donations unaccounted for on the KS site then 3 million will easily go. Not so sure about 3.5 million - it's going to be pretty tough even accounting for a probable last few day surge.
  8. Eeek, didn't realise we were stuck with these names permanently. I guess I'd like to change mine to Coffin Dodger of the Obsidian Order then if possible, please?
  9. I'm all in favour of it. I'd like to up my current $500 to get to the $1000 pledge tier, but can't really justify it to myself all in one month (and my other half is meaningfully opening and closing the nutcracker every time I venture near the Kickstarter site.....). Just nabbed this quote from Feargus taken from a Q&A round-up over on the Bioware forums: Question: Will it be possible for backer to up their pledge and buy add-ons after kickstarter finishes, like it's with Wasteland2? Feargus: We are working on that system and will have something up soon. We wanted to finish the translated sites and are getting there (took a long time). We have EspaƱol a d Polski up: http://eternity.obsidian.net/pl/ http://eternity.obsidian.net/es/ So it's looking more likely it will happen.
  10. How about "Honey, you look like you're gaining a few pounds, may I suggest you go on a diet? And could we spend the money we saved on the grocery bill on my Kickstarter pledge instead?" That should do the trick! Glad to be of help! Do let us know how you get on..........
  11. No to multiplayer, I'd much rather they didn't spend the resources on that. I'm potentially in favour of the arena if it fits in with their vision of the game. However I certainly wouldn't want one shoe-horned in there for the sake of it, so really up to Obsidian if they think it fits and have the time and resources.
  12. Don't see why not. Wasteland 2 has a store for late backers to donate via paypal: http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/store So I don't see that it wouldn't be possible for Obsidian to do something similar, and link the paypal donations to previous Kickstarter ones for those who've made them and want to improve their tier.
  13. I don't like it personally, it divides people's gaming experiences. Even though I suppose I'd be in a pledge level that would get in-game exclusives I still vote against them. They're just as bad as the ridiculous retailer exclusives that annoy the bejesus out of many people from previous conversations on this subject. If they offer additional things for higher pledges make them tangible out of game items, or do it like they've done with the ability for higher pledges to design in-game items (under Obsdian guidance) for everyone to see and experience no matter their pledge level.
  14. Since 1999, I've been begging Bioware, Bethesda, Black Isle, Obsidian and Troika to implement an addiction/Withdrawal symptom system for people who abuse consumables. I think certainly in the Expert mode, or whatever they're calling it, then that sounds like a perfectly viable addition. Not so sure about those of us playing in normal mode. Just because I love the old school style games doesn't mean I'm particularly good at them so I'd like to know just how harsh that system would be before wanting it in a normal mode.
  15. Was looking for news on whether we'd be allowed to increase our donations after the Kickstarter closes. I've never used one before so not sure how it works. If it's Paypal only then would they be able to add those contributions to our Kickstarter ones so we could progress gradually to a higher tier. Like Monte, and I suspect many others, I've backed to a level I can manage for the moment, what with Christmas looming, yet over the duration of development I'd like to increase my pledge gradually. Games like this are hardly ever made anymore, so it'd be nice for Obsidian to be able to show publishers that there is still a profitable market for these lower risk, lower budget kind of niche games amongst the AAA must sell millions of copies to break even games.
  16. BG1 here too, if it's a choice between the two, but I'm pretty sure they'll adopt a more BG2 way of doing things.
  17. you sir, are a filthy BioWarian and exactly what is wrong with everything in the world the gaming industry today...go die in a fire you cooldown whore. Sorry, I would reply appropriately to your comment but I've proved the old adage and blinded myself in a gleeful masturbatory frenzy at the thought of cooldowns so can't really see what you wrote....
  18. I don't really see myself as identified in either category - quite possibly like most folks here. I've pledged, according to your theory, as a Codexian yet shockingly I've enjoyed quite a few Bioware games - okay mostly the old school BG games, and yes I also enjoyed DA:O. I despised DA2 as that really represented a turning point for me in Bioware's "awesome" new wave of gaming - all rushed production values with flash cutscenes in an attempt to cover the obvious huge flaws, and very little in the way of mechanics, style and plot to keep me interested. I also have no massively pre-conceived notions about what must be in the game or else I remove my pledge. The promise of an old school, real time with pause, isometric RPG, alongside the crop of proven developers they're putting together is enough to convince me to take a punt on this. I might not in theory like the sound of all the decisions they're making in the early developmental process, however I trust them enough that generally speaking they'll implement the game mechanics, gameworld and plot in a way that melds together to create a great game. And shockingly that includes the much-maligned romances. No I don't use them in-game, so I'm not sure how that combines with my shameful admission I've enjoyed a few Bioware games. However so long as they're optional I'm accepting of the fact that many people want them included and would add to their enjoyment of the game, without drifting from the original basic old-school concept Obsidian had. The same with guns. I don't like guns in medieval style fantasy settings, in fact they're one of my biggest pet hates. But I'm again trusting that the core premise and design of the game will make me easily overlook this. Maybe I'm unconventional in that I have no real demands to keep my pledge, as old school isometric RPG's are becoming as rare as rocking horse poo, so I'm more than happy to invest and in some small way help try and push this style and genre to the fore once again. Or maybe it's just unrealistic to try and pidgeon-hole people into two distinct camps. I suspect it's a bit of both.
  19. "Souls are like cheese - everything is better with them" - even toes? Edit: Strong reading comprehension failure on my part!
  20. Yorkshire, England. So another vote for Europe I guess *sigh*
  21. This'll teach me to read stickies, totally missed this up until now! Just doubled my pledge. I'd like to be Despicable Heinous Scumbag Of The Obsidian Order please.
  22. Considering how derisory and arrogant the offer is I can't say I'm surprised it was turned down. Unfortunately I see the day a publisher comes along with a better offer for a Kickstarter project (not this one) and the studio gives in. Which would ruin the whole concept that makes it attractive to me - that being a developer I like being able to make the game they design with no interference from suits turning the game into a carbon copy of just about every other game on the market.
  23. Whilst I prefer the way Obsidian seems to be leaning for my personal tastes, ie one player created character, and the rest of the party constituting pre-made NPC's with their own unique pre-created personalities, which we can choose from, I do think the option to create your whole party would be nice if it's actually feasible to do. Coming from a totally non-developmental background I don't know how viable it would be, but I can see it being a popular idea and I'd be very supportive of it's inclusion if possible.
