  1. I only want per character inventory if the inventory is going to be split screen like the IE games, otherwise I'd rather just have a shared inventory.
  2. If any non-backers are interested in some combat videos, I've got a bunch of them against the famous "Beatle" encounter on Hard. I was TPK'd by them on my first go just like Adam Brennecke and many others were, but after a couple go's you get the hang of it. My first video is pretty bad but I get better as I go along, some of the classes I am more familiar with than others.
  3. Some pics Dimitri sent me that they were using for inspiration, although PE human, dwarf and aumaua females have larger busts than this (as seen in chain pics etc)
  4. This is a PM to Dimitri Berman which he hasn't read yet, so I'm posting it here so that someone sees it. For any backers viewing this thread - my part 1 suggestions on this topic were actually implemented in the first patch, so please no boobplate rage, cheers. I have a follow up from my first female armor critique, I noticed you've made some adjustments to some of the armors - leather and breastplate for example, which both look a bit better. I did some testing in the game where I had a look at how the characters look in the level in different armor sets and in the inventory screen: My overall impression is that I think a female chest area lower on the chest akin to the chain/scale armor would look the best on most of the armor sets I notice you adjusted the base model of the leather armor to be more like Padded, here is how the change looks compared to the scale armor, I think a lower bust and more side definition, with some adjustment to the armor textures to represent the curve better would be ideal here. Here is the full plate, which looks great by the way. Full Plate would likely be the most flattening, but maybe a bit more room in the bust area instead of a sharper incline down the chest. Cant remember which one this is, but this one is the furthest off, it looks the flattest, I reckon try the chain/scale bust here with more definition at the side The Breastplate looks noticeably better, also perhaps try a lower bust with the chain/scale Here's what I'd recommend to try with the Full Plate, perhaps not as far as my very rushed mspaint line Here's the Breastplate from the side - looks better, but looks like a push-up bra, probably need a lower bust like the pics you showed me that you were taking inspiration from Chain/Scale/Hide clearly looks the best Move the bust on this one down like the Chain/scale/hide - Anyway I'd do the same on all races as well. Dwarves may have some issues though, but currently the rest are all still looking a bit inconsistent. All of this is YMMV. Keep up the good work, I also have an earlier PM with Male armor and general character art critiques. Sensuki
  5. Yes most of the animations and stuff are not that polished (I don't think) they're "beta" The combat isn't tuned yet You can either help submit constructive feedback or complain. One of those things will not help the game be better upon release, and one will. The PE beta is about on par with the Wasteland 2 and Div:OS betas although it is better and worse in different ways than the others.
  6. Not sure whether they've peeled off a bunch of animators or not, they might be working on creature polish and stuff like that atm. I assume we'll see stuff get another pass sometime soon.
  7. I have made two videos showcasing the method that was used in the Infinity Engine games to prevent the synchronized droid army look that Pillars of Eternity has for the purposes of character movement. The IE games used a random 0-10 frame delay (using the combat idle animation) before a unit start moving after a move command was issued. I believe the implementation of this is a very simple and effective method will fix the synchronized droid army look that units have when a grouped move command is issued. I also think it should be used for all creatures (as in the IE games) and not just party members. The move animation could use a bit of polishing as well. 8. This is a thread for posting output log errors. The output log catches errors from the game and pastes them into the log. Some of these will be useful for identifying issues with load times, bugs and crashes How to format your posts: [Log file] http://www.upload.ee/files/4275320/output_log.txt.html [Description of what you did] I made a Female Human Druid and leveled her up to 5th level, quit the game and then repeated the exact process again and then quit Pillars of Eternity [Notable errors] Pillars of Eternity fails to load string table files many times in a row Possible source of a missing string Possible source of a lot more missing strings Couple of paperdoll bugs/warnings - this happens during the Level Up Screen, and happens every time you level up Not sure which file these are referencing exactly, perhaps the .exe itself?
  9. I actually don't find the PE window any better than the IE window because it still takes the same amount of clicks to move an item around. I have 15 years of muscle memory from moving items around the IE way as well, so I prefer it. Personally I think the easiest way to do things would probably be to just have the stash and no per-character inventory.
  10. Titan Quest had a fantastic inventory system. One of my favourites of any game.
  11. As an ex-competitive FPS player here's my 2c about gaming mice: THESE DAYS most mice are absolutely full of ****, this wasn't the case 10 years or so ago. There have been a couple of improvements over time, such as native 500Hz / 1000Hz Most of the best mice sensors ever made are not produced any more, some of the newer ones are "okay". There are really only three (technically five) important things to consider when choosing a mouse: 1. Comfort - you'll want to use a mouse that you find comfortable to grip, different people prefer different shapes and grips, I find generally it's best to stick to the same shape you're used to IF YOU DONT PLAY ONLINE FPS, THEN THE BELOW THINGS PROBABLY DONT MATTER THAT MUCH 2. Sensor - you don't want your mouse to malfunction, so it's important to buy a mouse that works on the gaming surface that you use and has a high enough max control speed for the sensitivity that you use 3. Issues - no mouse is perfect, every mouse has at least something wrong with it, whether it be a ****ty mouse wheel, a click bug, issues at certain dpi or mouse prediction (4.) Support - If you use Windows 8, you can't overclock your USB ports to get better performance out of old mice, such as the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 or the Logitech MX500, so it might be better to use a native 500Hz / 1000Hz mouse. (5.) DPI - If you have a very large resolution (1440p+) and use a very high sensitivity (aka you move your mouse less than 10cm to do a 360 turn) then DPI could be considered somewhat important, but for the largest screen today 1600 dpi will be more than enough. I personally use 400Hz, as I think it has the best "feel" and I use a low sensitivity. The best mice I've ever used are: Logitech MX500 (original, not the rebadge) - This mouse uses the arguably the best sensor ever made, perfect control up to a whopping 4.5 metres a second when overclocked to 500Hz+ meaning that you can use really low sensitivities with perfect accuracy. Downside: Prediction, Native 125Hz, needs to be overclocked. Logitech MX300 - Same as above, uses the same sensor, but comes in a different shape and without the side buttons Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical/Intellimouse 1.1a - This mouse uses a sensor which is also arguably the best sensor ever made, although it is not meant for massively low sensitivity, as the perfect control speed is only ~ 1.8m/sec when overclocked to 500Hz+, this mouse sensor has absolutely no prediction whatsoever and there is no mouse sensor that feels as "true" as this one. Downsides: 125Hz native, mwheelup often fires on it's own randomly - can be fixed with a mod, Max Control 1.8m/sec - ultra low sens will malfunction/have negative accel Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 - Same as above, just comes in a different shape A4Tech X7 X-710BF - Good perfect control speed when overclocked, has a 3 x left click button Downsides: 125Hz native, Prediction?, impossible to find? Good mice that are not quite as good as above: Logitech G400 - Basically nowadays version of the Logitech MX5xx series, Native and stable 1000Hz (amazing), Great perfect control speed, buttons have low click latency Downsides: 800Hz native (this is a negative for me because I use 400Hz only), not perfect at all DPI levels, kinda ****ty mouse wheel Razer Deathadder (v1, 1800 dpi) - I don't like this mouse, but that's because I don't like the shape and I don't like the materials used. However the Deathadder (in all it's versions) is probably the most popular mouse today. It is native 500Hz, can store profiles, low latency buttons and good perfect control Downsides: Not great at all DPIs, **** build quality, **** mouse wheel, known to brick (as poster above mentioned), **** cable Logitech MX518 (1600 dpi version) - The not quite as good MX500. Not made anymore, will probably never find one anywhere as they were replaced with an 1800 dpi version with a different version of the sensor late in the production line. A human can not move this mouse fast enough to even get close to it's unknown malfunction speed. Great mouse wheel Downsides: can only do stable 250Hz, 500Hz clips to 250Hz every now and again, 125Hz native, Prediction. I do not have any knowledge of new mice. There are so many of them now and my current mice (G400, Microsoft v3 on my spare PC and WMO 1.1a backup) will probably last me until I die. I would however like to collect a good condition MX500, 300 and A4Tech mouse if I could ever find another one.
  12. It was cool, but i'd prefer PE characters to not slow down when moving. Torment's characters just had way better animations.
  13. yeah some vailian portraits would be nice in the upcoming patches
  14. I'd rather a worse looking game that runs at a good frame rate than a game that looks better but runs at worse than 30 FPS.
  15. Right click cancel was in in v257. It's not working in this build, no one seems to have acknowledged it as a bug yet even after my multiple reports.
  16. This isn't The Elder Scrolls though.
