Agreed. There's a deafening silence about the expansion, that's for sure. Not even a mention on GOG or Steam yet and the release is only hours away.

Update #99: Announcing the Expansion and Update 2.0
I see no reason to think otherwise. It's how we were given the GOG and Steam keys for the base game. I can't see any reason they would do it differently for the expansion - especially since there's an entry in the Products tab for the expansion if you pledged at that level.

White March pricing/availability
I think Obs generally goes with PST, but I'm only guessing.

If it's only a few days, it's a wash, as you'll accrue about 0 interest in that time.

Steampeasants vs. GOG masterrace.
Ink Blot replied to Raven Darkholme's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Again, my experience has been different. I've had Origin installed for a couple years and had no issues whatsoever with it. Not trying to say you didn't have problems, you obviously have, and so have many others. I was just pointing out that everyone has different experiences with software. Steam, for me, has been buggier than Origin (although, to be fair, I've not had any really major problems with Steam either).

Steampeasants vs. GOG masterrace.
Ink Blot replied to Raven Darkholme's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)My experience has been different. Surprisingly, I find that Origin 'just works'. I've had no issues with it whatsoever. Steam hasn't been terrible for me, but I've had a few issues with offline mode and I loathe the forced game updates.

Steampeasants vs. GOG masterrace.
Ink Blot replied to Raven Darkholme's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Cool. I feel the same. As I said, just being the pedant.

Steampeasants vs. GOG masterrace.
Ink Blot replied to Raven Darkholme's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You do realize that you don't 'own' games you buy on GOG either, right? The difference being that GOG has no ability to block access to your games if you backup your game installers. Which is why I like DRM-free as well. But no matter what platform you buy your software on, you don't actually own it. You just own a license to play/use it. I understand this is being pedantic, but the 'ownership' argument against Steam is misguided.

Steampeasants vs. GOG masterrace.
Ink Blot replied to Raven Darkholme's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Both have their advantages. Personally, if I can get a game on either platform, I always choose GOG. Having said that, if you own the base game on GOG, then that's the platform you have to buy the expansion on (It's not stand alone).

Josh Sawyer confirms BG2-style weapon effects being added for White March including instant death effects
Good Gods, man, just console the item into your inventory (unless you're into achievements). It's way easier and far less time consuming.

This is a great game, but ....
I always find peoples' opinions interesting. I loved DA:O, liked Divinity:Original Sin a lot, and thought Wasteland 2 was fantastic (I played through to the end 3 times, to the end of Arizona 6 times, and part way through California 3 times - all in rapid succession). Sadly, I found Pillars to be just decidedly average. There were some great aspects to it, some really crap aspects, and it left me with an overall 'meh' impression. I don't regret backing it, and would back another Obs kickstarter in a heartbeat (but not at the same pledge level), but I did not find it came close to my expectations. I thought Wasteland 2 was far superior.

This is a great game, but ....
No doubt there could be better party AI and more tactical options, but the rest of your suggestions (3D, voice acting, cut scenes) completely miss the whole point of the game.

The White March expansion price revealed - $15 per part, $25 for both
MotB was, if memory serves, 30 bucks when it was released. Not sure why you'd think this expansion should be the same price as a much older game offered on GOG. Note that the EE of the IE games sell for 20 bucks on GOG, which would be a slightly more fair comparison, although still off the mark, IMO

Update 2.0 Beta is Live
As rkade noted, it's just easier for Obsidian to push beta patches on Steam. Just means us GOGgers get a finished patch when it's ready.
-
Update 2.0 Beta is Live
Beta patches are only released on Steam. The expansion release date has been announced as August 25th, so I'd assume that's when GOG will release as well, and also assume we'll get patch 2.0 on or before that date.

Still "Shipping soon"?
Don't bother checking your backer portal account. Mine shows the same thing and I've already received all my goods, the DRM-free disc, as well as a replacement map. As naughtbutanillusion said, wait for a confirmation e-mail.

Pillars of Eternity Multiplayer in the works?
Yeah, if it were designed with multiplayer from the get-go that would be one thing, but to 'cobble' it in afterward (as Wanderon noted) would not be ideal, IMO.

Pillars of Eternity Multiplayer in the works?
As its 'main draw'? I'll admit, if they added multiplayer a la BG/BG2/IWD?IWD2, it wouldn't bother me (although I'd never use it). But not sure I agree it was the main draw of the old IE games.

Question before I buy
Yes, there's a Linux version.

Anyone else have this happen with their savegames?
Two things (and forgive me, I know these may be stupid questions, but just to cover the bases): 1) Are you using the same name for the saves? Perhaps that causing an issue if you are. 2) You're not overwriting the old save each time you save, are you? Again, sorry for the questions, but sometimes it's the simplest things that we overlook.

Enhancements for the future
Well, Obs could always just add an AWESOME button in one of the patches...

So why exactly should I buy the expansion?
Welcome, but... why are you apologizing for your English? It's perfectly fine (better than many, actually).

So why exactly should I buy the expansion?
Yeah, this is kind of where I fall on NWN. I played through the original campaign twice and had a few partial runs as well. But it was decidedly not a great campaign. But once I discovered some of the community-made modules (and the odd server), boy did that elevate the game's status in my eyes. Good picks on the modules, BTW (although I'm not familiar with Pig Farmer). Hell, between your post and Grom appearing on here, I feel like I may have to fire up the game again.
-
How to start being a backer?
Damn, I may havea to fire up the old NWN account, although I'd be pretty damned rusty at this point. Would be nice to run into GDL again too. Thanks for the info, Grom.

Have a few questions
Grom, as others noted, check your journal, as the quests are sorted by type (main, side, etc). So just do whatever ones strike your fancy and, like gkathellar said, the turns will roll with each completed quest/task. There's no urgency, as the main quest doesn't have a timer.
