  1. Normally I don't mind that people are wanting their romances in RPGs, but I have to agree with Rosveen on the big facepalm. I find romances in games are generally contrived, awkward, often juvenile, and don't particularly add anything to the story or my gameplay experience. I'd far prefer that any time spent on DLCs were spent on something (anything) other than romances.
  2. Buy another copy of PoE and gift it to a friend. OR, buy it from a Steam (if you haven't got it there) or GOG (if you've got it on Steam).
  3. Pretty sure you don't want to go this route, given your rather... strict view on cheating, but: you could always go god mode with the console just so you can flee the area. Don't fight, just run. Nnot sure if you'd be able to run far enough to have combat end though).
  4. Apologies. Instead of 'commenting' I should have said the ones that get credit. Don't know why I phrased it that way, as I actually don't recall my PC commenting at all (but I do remember the other party members saying things).
  5. Perhaps it's just whichever character is closest to the found object? That's the way it seemed to me, at least, when I was playing through the game. My character was almost always the one that commented, but she was in the lead (Paladin). Less frequently, it would be one of the other characters commenting, but the only one in my party with significant mechanics was my custom-made Rogue (second-liner).
  6. Just fired Steam up and started up Skyrim, so no, Steam's not down.
  7. Ah, good point. Although there are limited useful Chanter/Cipher spells anyway, so it's moot (but it could be very handy to get rid of something you took that turned out to be dog poo).
  8. Yeah, as Nakia said, you can switch at any time if you've learned the spells. And if you have multiple Grimoires, you can have tons of spells locked and loaded if you take the time to arrange them with no repeats.
  9. It... wouldn't be PoE. It would be a D&D Forgotten Realms game. Besides, I think the licensing alone would cost Obs a fortune, and they'd have a third party breathing down their necks approving/rejecting much of what they do, so wouldn't be worth it in the least.
  10. ...ignoring the fact that evolution takes place over much longer timespans. That aside, I really hope we don't see this. I personally really dislike it when monster races suddenly turn up as playable characters. Yes, it's just my opinion, nut my vote would be an emphatic 'NO' on this one.
  11. Yeah, the hyperbole is strong in the OP. GOG has never taken a week for any of the PoE patches and, as noted, Galaxy is in Beta, so it's probably a bit early to be asking about patch and hotfix delivery.
  12. The irony is that in the original beta release, all stats started at 1 (or zero - can't recall exactly) and Obs gave you a bunch of points to raise whatever stats you wanted. There were no penalties, but a lot of people complained that it didn't make sense. So all Obs did was shift the baseline to 10 and give you fewer points to distribute. It's actually exactly the same system but with 'penalties' to 'low' stats. The resultant character is actually the same in-game.
  13. And you'd get to build your character pretty much exactly the same as every other character. *golf clap* My heart bleeds for you. (Not). Wow, it's easy to play the snarky insult game.
  14. I honestly don't see a good solution. There will always be dump stats unless you create a system where even lowering one stat carries such a high penalty that it basically cripples the character. And if you create a system like that, it ends up making all character builds boringly similar because non one will dump any stats at all. I personally don't mind if there are dump stats for character class builds, as long as they're not the same one or two stats for every class ( like CHA was the de facto dump stat for almost all character classes in D&D other than the Sorcerer - and to a lesser extent, the Bard).
  15. Stats that have no use for a particular character/class build. Such as INT for Fighters in the old D&D system (not sure what the new on is like). Or, as an example, in IWD2, you'd build (if you're powergaming) your Fighters with max STR, CON, and maybe DEX. You'd dump all other stats to the lowest possible. For Wizards, you'd max INT, DEX, and maybe CON. You'd dump all other stats.
  16. Ye gods, it seems Obs is just flailing about blindly and choosing to nerf for the sake of nerfing with no regard to the actual effects in-game. I'm both surprised and disappointed.
  17. I think I'd have to agree with KDubya on this one. This kind of implementation would be a terrible idea, as it would just serve to make all builds end up in a very narrow range of ability scores.
  18. This isn't what Obs said in their Kickstarter Update (sent out today), Here are the salient bits: "Physical discs are being printed for shipping now. One reason for waiting was so we could get the 1.04 patch as the base build on the disc. You should start seeing your discs in the next few weeks." "We anticipate that 1.06 will be shipping out later this month. 1.06 will continue the trend of adding in new features, balancing existing gameplay, and fixing bugs important to the community."
  19. This is similar to how I felt. I was also at the point where I just wanted to finish to see the end. But I also wanted to see how all the quests I encountered ended up playing out. The combat though, was not enjoyable.
  20. I don't quite agree here. What about the player that's not really focused on leveling up, but just really enjoys exploration and completing quests? This is where I fall and I hit the level cap just into act 3, as Achilles did. As a side note, I think it's really weird that you can only complete 3 of the 11 (12?) bounties before entering the third act areas. I'd have expected you'd get at least half of them (of course, this would have made you hit the cap even earlier though, so averall it's a wash I guess).
  21. They didn't build it 'on top of the old infinity engine'. It's built using Unity. The crappy pathfinding has nothing to do with the Infinity Engine. As for the 2.5D graphics, that was one of the major points of doing the game.
