  1. While I won't argue the fact that Obs has console fans, as they most certainly do, don't lose sight of the fact the OP asked what stretch goals would make you pledge more cash. While I have nothing against consoles, ports to other platforms would not be something that would tease more money out of me. This is what many of us are saying. Not that there shouldn't be console versions at all: just that we wouldn't pledge more money to make them a reality.
  2. I'm pretty much on board with rjshae. Not that I'm a platform snob, but I couldn't care less about ports to other platforms. I pledged to get this game for PC, so why would I possibly care about Obsidian porting it to other platforms? If they want to do that, that's cool, but I certainly wouldn't throw more money at them to make it happen. Now, some of the things that rjshae listed... I'm up for that.
  3. My thoughts exactly, but I don't expect to love very environment I encounter either. The interview itself is very pleasing to me, as pretty much everything Sawyer said just reinforces my satisfaction that I backed this project. Looking damned good to me so far. Can't wait to walk into Defiance Bay.
  4. I think you probably have a good point here, although I can only wish I were young enough to be considered a student of the 'nineties'...
  5. Your cat. Is epic.
  6. I think you're missing the fact that the Obs devs said the game isn't the style of game that would support controller play all that well. Also, you're assuming it would be a 'little amount of work' to do this. The devs seem to think otherwise.
  7. I believe the whole point of this kickstarter was not to be 'forward thinking'. You know, what with the whole 2d isometric PC exclusive nod to the old IE games thing...
  8. I'm waffling as to using my real name or Ink Blot. My real name appears in the credits of one of Obs' other games (heh), which is pretty cool, so I've no real issues there I guess, but I'm still not sure what I'll do yet.
  9. Just checking, but don't think I have one. *edit* nope, no badge.
  10. Make sure you designated what the 8 bucks extra (for the OOoE) is to go towards. Since there's nothing for 8 bucks, I just added it as a Kickstarter Donation. Of course, ignore this if you've already dealt with that.
  11. I can say it's definitely not that. My order completed without issues and I left the Company field blank. I believe the others are correct in assuming the server is just being slammed right now. *edit* Oh, hey! The badge showed up! Cool.
  12. May be mentioned earlier, but definitely mentioned in Update #19, where it says for physical pledge tiers: Box Version of Project Eternity, DRM free for Windows, Mac, or Linux, with DVD and printed manual. So no DRM.
  13. Isometric was one of the reasons I backed this to the tune of 500 bucks. I love isometric view and in any game where it's even an option, that's how I play it. Hell, I still play the old IE games regularly (just finished a run through BG1, BG2 and ToB a week ago and am now immersed in another run through both IWD and IWD2) and the isometric view is a big part of the appeal for me. As others have mentioned, the throwback to the older style was pretty much the main point of making this game. I'm eternally (pun intended) grateful that there are devs like Obsidian that are willing to still make this style of game.
  14. While I can agree with this sentiment, this isn't what Luridis is talking about. He's not talking about uber loot. He's talking about character abilities/powers that are part of the game system. Using an ability your character has (i.e an immunity to acid spell to avoid acid damage) in order to get through a situation isn't slipping through loopholes. It's assessing the challenge and looking at your resources to find a solution, which should be rewarded, not thwarted in a completely illogical way.
  15. I didn't vote as I'm not sure yet what it will be, but it's probably going to be either: Rogue Chanter Cipher
  16. Blasphemy I know, being a BG fan and all, but I found Minsc amusing for a very very short time. Then he quickly moved way over into annoying territory and stayed there. The 'miniature giant space hamster', IMO, had no place in the setting at all (I found it jarring and it just served to throw me out of the mood of the game) and the 'lovable idiot' role grated on me quite quickly. I don't mind quirky and/or humorous characters, but please not another Minsc.
  17. I'm all for it, and have said as much in other DRM discussions. Problem is, I still won't buy the game until I see the DRM is actually patched out, which means I'm likely not going to be paying much for the game (likely by that time the price will be reduced, as it was in the case of Alpha Protocol). As well, I'm sorry to say it, but I don't trust publishers to patch out DRM even if they say they will until I actually see it happen (I'm looking at you Atari).
  18. I'm anti-DRM, but I think I'm well enough informed on the topic to justify my stance. I will say I've read the article on Tweakguides before and while I think it makes some good points, there are also some things that are overlooked and/or outright ignored. DRM won't necessarily stop me from buying a game, but it vastly reduces my perceived value of it. As an example of this, I own a bunch of games on Steam, but have never paid more than 7 bucks for any of them (and yes, sorry Obz, but Dungeon Siege 3 is one of them). I'm pretty sure that's not what the game devs/publishers are aiming for when it comes to per-unit revenue. But anything shackled with DRM just does not have any more value in my eyes. Will PE be pirated? Most assuredly. But does anyone really think DRM is going to stop that? I know I don't. And on a side note, I'm somewhat amused at the charge that piracy is killing PC game releases, when you consider games like, oh Halo 4 anyone?
  19. One-time on-line activation when you first install. That's enough DRM in my book to make me not want to bother. Or did they change that?
  20. I own 4 copies of the game, and have one modded to the moon and back. Honestly, the DRM scheme killed my interest. While I applaud their enhancement of the game, why would I pay 20 bucks for a DRMed version that's probably only marginally better than my non-DRMed modded GOG version? So no, I won't be playing it tomorrow or anytime soon. Besides, I've got a 'backlog' of somewhere on the order of 100 games to play, which should just about take me to the launch of PE.
  21. Deep fried and served with Frank's Red Hot Sauce. Because I put that **** on everything.
  22. Bingo. I'd ideally love to see the scale of the BG games, the great story of both BG and PS:T, and the excellent combat encounter and dungeon design of the IWD games.
  23. After getting the game at a really good discount long after it was released, I kick myself for not just picking it up sooner. The complaints against it, IMO, were far overblown. It's a damned good game and a whole lot of fun. How could I have doubted you, Obsidian? I just wish there was a possibility of an Alpha Protocol 2. Alas for IP ownership and copyright issues. *edit* Oh, and I think you'll find the computer hacking issues will clear up after you're into the game a bit and get more used to it. That's how it played out for me, anyway.
