Jingles has made a good video with good points however it does not change my mind. Why? First I admit I picked up Oblivion after playing the IE games for several years. It was a shock to me. After listening to my complaints for a while a friend told me to play Morrowind which I picked up cheap as it was now "old". He had played it about 25 times and loved it. So did I. Maybe the break from IE games trying to play Oblivion helped. I will also say this for Bethesda or whoever makes the decisions after the multitude of complaints about Oblivion they did listen to the players, checked out popular mods and included some of those features in Skyrim. So what is my biggest complaint about Oblivion and Skyrim? Let me deal with Skyrim first as that is simpler. In my opinion there is no main story. Who the hell cares if you are the Dragonborn? The dragons are pretty uninteresting and more of a nuisance as you go about other things. I never even felt they where a real threat to Skyrim much less Tamriel. Oblivion is a little more complected as I love the Main Quest maybe because Sean Bean voices Martin. I fell in love with Mart and actually crien, well had tears in my eyes, when he became the avatar and vanished from Cyrodil. But when the quest is over what does it really matter? You get a fancy suit of armour and the Imperial soldiers will hail you. Come on you should now be the most famous person in the country, people should be talking about you some should recognize you especially if you are wearing that armour worn only by Emperors and champions. Outside of becoming the Grey Fox it didn't seem to matter if you became the Arch Mage, or head of an other faction. The city of Kvatch just sat there a ruin without anyone trying to fix it until some modders made some mods to rebuild it. Mods are what has given Oblivion its long running life and made it fun to play. Thousands of them. My other serious complaint is that even after Oblivion and Skyrim are given official patches you have to turn to a modder and get the unofficial patches in order to fix some serious things. The games are fun to play but they do have in my opinion some serious design flaws. At least we know we will get a good story from Obsidian and the fact that we know the names of at least the major leads was a big selling point for me to back them. All I had to be told was that Chris Avalone was going to write the story. Very personal note: Ihated Delphine and added a mod that shut up and told her off. Happiest day of my Skyrim life.

[392] Zealous Focus - endless loop bug
Nakia replied to BillyCorgan's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Went into the Temple dungeon the back way. Had the same thing happen after a fight. Tried everything including a new battle and couldn't get rid of the Zealous Rage problem. I tried reloading, problem continued. Went back to a prior auto-save in the dungeon, same problem. Then I went back to a manual save outside the dungeon which I had made immediately after a battle. I had made the save before the Paladin disabled Zealous Focus so I wonder if that has something to do with the problem. -
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year to all and especially the devs who are making this game possible.

Area Spells effects have to be improved
Nakia replied to BillyCorgan's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I too agree with Sensuki on this. I like things clear but simple. -
Pre-orders and new trailer now live!
Nakia replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
March would be during the 1 st !, April I think would still be early after that it would move into the middle of 2015,. To me late 2015 would be the 4 th !. Much as I want to actually play the game it is very, very important to me that it be reasonably bug free,. Minor bugs that may appear and can be easily fixed in one patch I can live with but I am sick and tired of games that come out with broken quests, unknown CTDs and other bugs that can mess up your game play. This is Obsidian's chance to prove that if given time they can produce a bug free game. I am strongly in favor of letting them do it. -
Field Triage is an absolute must have?
Nakia replied to drunetovich's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I have been making my BB custom member a Paladin because they have lay on hands and greater lay on hands. Also have the priest get field triage. Various foods and potions will also improve exhaustion at least temporarily. The priest also has other spells that improve exhaustion. I do find it a problem in the BB especially for my main tank but figure it will improve in the actual game when we will be able to collect more ingrediants and therefore make more potions.. I spend a lot of time creating my player character and when leveling up choosing things and I like doing that. For me especially during the BB that is a lot of the fun challenge because I like a game that makes me think. I haven't played a druid or ranger yet. Do either of those have spells or talents that would apply? -
I have the exact same problem as the OP including a cipher and a rogue with mechanical abilities.

[392] Zealous Focus - endless loop bug
Nakia replied to BillyCorgan's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I had the same problem as the OP. Glad to hear there are work arounds as I went back to a prior save for now. -
oops messed that up. Just wanted to thank you for clarifying that about the amulet.

yes but I don't know if it can be used for amulets. Maybe someone else knows. Neck to me indicates any thing that can go around the neck specifically but I could be wrong.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS Modding thread: A simple mod and Console commands
Nakia replied to Bester's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I hope they do too. No matter how good the game is a good modder can give not only new life to a game but extend its life. Which in turn draws new players to buy the game because more people talk about it. Thus everyone benefits. -
There is a neck slot. I do not have an amulet to place there when I get one I will check it out.

I don't play RPGs because of their puzzles but I do enjoy having a few really challenging puzzles included. Let me rephrase that. I love puzzles and for me and for me a really good RPG is a puzzle which is one reason I stay away from walkthroughs or spoilers until I have played a game all the way through. I had a lot of fun with the TES games, even Oblivion and Skyrim once I caught on to the way to play was just explore, do what ever I wanted to do. There is a freedom in the games with its open world and the fact that nothing you do will have any real consequence. Bethesda does support modding (halfheartedly) and there are some really great modders out there. If PoE has a few good puzzles that will be a bonus for me but not the game itself.

^ Marvelous. -
I noticed that the Crossing was not a map option. I did talk to people. Dif the cat & mouse task then picked up the Dragon Egg task and traveled to the Crossing which was now an option. Explored a little, fought some beetles and returned to the Village. So far no problem.

I agree with every thing he said. He got all my complaints listed. Very nice video and thanks for posting it. Morrowind is one of my favorite RPGs. Oblivion was disappointing and needed a lot of modding to be really enjoyable. Skyrim was fun but I played the main quest if it was the main quest tongue in cheek. "Dragonborn, who me? What's that I get to shout you to death?" My favorite quest line was the Civil War as it did have choices and some consequences.

I haven't done combat yet but have had no problem with FPS or stuttering and I have explored the map as much as possible without going into combat. Gone in and out of buildings. Moved selected characters around a lot as I was trying to see if I could replicate the FPS problem. Haven't been able to.

Wow! Posted in red that should catch peoples' attention. I have a different opinion maybe I should post in bright yellow. Nah, but here is what I feel about the IE combat and spell casting from D&D. I did not like the spell casting system and am glad OE has made some improvements to it. Still needs work I know but that will come. Combat in BG games? I had a lot of trouble with. I was new to playing CRPG games but had had no problem with BaK turn based play. I finally found the best thing for me to do was turn off the AI scripts and manually control my party. Even so sometimes I had things go wrong. My wizard is doing fine, provides a lot of damage and that is the BB wizard I am talking about. I do have to watch out for him because he does get targeted by enemies. Don't blame them for that. Summoning? Summon what a familiar? That has its downside. Skeletons or other creatures to fight for you? Not needed in my opinion. My opinion is that OE is on the right track and just needs to tweak, fine tune and fix some bugs.

Disarming Traps: Not Sure if I'm Dumb or it's a Bug
Nakia replied to Dueps's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I have the same problem and both mu cipher and my rogue have mechanic skill. No message appears saying that more sill or lockpicks are needed. -
Some people who cannot afford the game may turn to piracy but not all. I am on a fixed income and have to make my game choices carefully and I have not ever pirated a game. I know quite a few other people in the same situation and they do not pirate games. They buy what they can, wait for sales, or sacrifice something else to buy a game. Those who pirate games are actually pushing the price of games up for those of us who prefer integrity and believe the laborer is worthy of his hire. As for the Kickstarter items those are thank you gifts from Osidian because we believed in them and took the risk of pledging to them in the hope of getting a game we really wanted to play. If someone feels that it is wrong that is their opinion and if they wish to wait to buy the game that is their choice. The bottom line is that the game exists because 77,000 people believed in Obsidian.

My point about asking those questions is that people are comparing two very different things. AAA companies that have a hierarchy of companies having various stages of ownership and small or moderate sized companies owned by a handful of people who enjoy what they are doing. Yes, those smaller companies want and need to make money but the owners and employees went into the business because they are game players themselves. They care about the game, the game itself is important to them. If i had 100K USD to invest in games which would I be better off doing? Buying stock in EA or backing a company like Obsidian?

Windows 7, 64bit and it loaded fine for me.

Thank you, Santa Badler.

Both Lephys and VV21 speak for me. Different options make the game fun for different people. To me complaining about options included is like going to a buffet and complaining because there is food laid out that you don't like as well as food you do like.
