  1. Easy is easy although I haven't tried the wild druids. I think even players new to this type of game would have no real problem with the easy setting. I haven't tried hard yet.
  2. I'll never understand why people make threads on company forums about "my friend who pirates" or even flat our piracy in general. At a con a few years ago, some kid went up my friends booth and started talking about how he hated DRM and would pirate whenever he could. He got so upset when my friend started yelling at him, as if it was my friends fault for giving a **** that they cared about him taking this guys $60 game for free. There's people that actually do that? Yes, there are. I have an Online friend who hates DRM. He buys a copy of a game and then pirates the game so he does not have to register it with Steam or whoever.
  3. To Obsidian I say this. If giving me, a backer, a couple of little insignificant thank you gifts is going to upset peop, cause them to pirate the game because they can't get a "full"game then I ask you, OE, please do not give me a backer those gifts. You are already giving me what I wanted and what I pledge for, a game I really want. Thank you, Obsidian
  4. It all boils down to opinion. The makers of the vids are expressing their opinions and we are expressing our opinions. We are not critiquing technology or mechanics here but the overall look and feel of the game, the way it plays for us. We are not even discussing bugs. So no one is right or wrong or we are all right for ourselves and all wrong from the opposing view point.
  5. Thank you, Sensuki, I just went through some of the cultures and I see what you are saying. Too bad. Well, I expected to not agree with or like 100% of what OE did. That's life.
  6. For QA t duplicate this bug I suggest the following. 1) Do not use the dev build use the BB build given to us 2) Ask Dingler the bartender for an adventurer 3) Create a sixth character 4) Level him up Save game Now repeat this for an extra character Exchange him with a party member save the game. Try to leave the inn. If you cannot leave the ginn exit game and reload you last save.
  7. Why where Slave and dissident removed the background choices? In my opinion the slave is the other side of the coin from aristocrat and would make different choices, react differently to what is happening around him. Dissident also would have a different view point from most people. I like to actually role play my character, why does he react this way, why would he make the choice to kill or to save someone. I choose a drifter background for my monk because he has given up family and home to sacrifice himself. I could continue with why he has chosen this life but this isn't a story forum. I think background is very important in establishing who your character is.
  8. They should be able to as I am using the vanila BB with nothing added or tweaked and have had the sane results as reported by Sensuki. My computer probably falls in the moderate rang, It is used primarily for gaming nothing unique or outstanding about it. Much as many other "casual" players might use.
  9. I remember during the Kickstarter when asked about the possibility we were told that there might be a chance. Location areas would be painted backgrounds I think which if they are similar to the city builders I used are easy to work with. Have no idea how the buildings would be created or how the interiors are made in PoE. 3D items, models I think would be part of the resources. I do know that modders who make items use third party software which can be expensive but that is a talent in itself. At this time I doubt that OE has either the money or the time to make something that modders could use. I am just hoping they will consider it for the future. Bester and Sensuki are already doing things but that only reflects what they feel needs changing and what they like. The value of the TES modding community was how broad it was so that almost anyone could find something that reflected what they liked and wanted. It is impossible to please everyone because we are so individualistic. Edit: I didn't see Sensuki's post. Programming is the problem for many potential modders. Because of the way TES games where made and because they did provide an editor even I was able to do some minor tweaking of MY GAME some things like a quest added to a location might be easier depending on the amount of programming needed. I can dream can't I?
  10. I envision an argument between the two with Sensuki as a master of the Rapier explaining all the correct and proper ways to fight and Shevek as either a barbarian or a rogue arguing that their style of fighting is more efficient and gets the job done faster.
  11. The problem I believe is that you need to have the editor and getting it is not that simple unless you can afford to buy it. This limits drastically who will be able to mod the game. Oblivion benefited immensely from the thousands of mods made for in and are still being made for it.
  12. Both Sensuki and Shevek have made major contributions to the game and forum in my opinion. Even their disagreements are productive and thought provoking. I suspect they look at the game and gaming in different ways. High level contributors get their rewards so why shouldn't a couple of guys who have added so much of interest be rewarded? Who would even realize that they had been except those of us active on the forum? Of course it is Obsidian's call.
  13. I don't find the beetles more difficult in this patch just still difficult. People have been complaining about the beetles all along and will keep complaining. I think partly because if you want to explore you cannot avoid them It also seems strange to me that the beetles are tougher than the humanoids in the dungeon temple. However it does remind me a little bit of when I first played Morrowind and got killed by a mudcrab.
  14. I have not played on hard so can't respond directly to that. I wish normal had included the need for food feature if it is done non-intrusively. I have added mods to games in order to get the need to eat, drink, rest but if in the middle of a battle I keep getting messages that I need to eat I disable that function. Fantasy games are not realistic but they should feel realistic according to the world in which they are set. For me it just is not realistic for someone threatened with death to ant to eat. Adrenaline sets in and who is going to stop to eat when something is attacking you. I do think food should be important even when playing on easy or normal. This is a magic world and food can have magic properties albeit low. So it could help with resistances and since food takes time to digest it could be used as a buff. However I don't think OE is going to add features at this point nor do I think they should. If they keep trying to add things we players woulddd like we will never get the game. Maybe they will consider it as a DLC which would also make it optional for people.
  15. I know, I can't play my Paladin just now, completely bugged out and keeps activating his/her aura. I'm too scared of beetle combat just now to see if that will fix it XD Me too, even when I make the paladin the extra party member the same thing happens. I think they pushed this patch out quickly so we could play it over the holiday. I appreciate that but there are a lot of bugs and I do not mean insects.
  16. Yeah, it was more a heat of the moment response (see above. You posted right after I addressed that XD) yes, it is the overpowered beetles that are the problem. Or so many of them coming at one time that is annoying. OE still needs to work on balancing the combat. Other than that and out right bugs I am happy with games. (no pun intended)
  17. I had a game I enjoyed but found it odd that you could fight one guy behind a row of book cases and the two guys ignored what was happening. That actually broke immersion for me as it was too unrealistic. I think once a fight starts nearby enemies should be alerted.
  18. Oh dear, now I am worried that I will lose all my friends who did not back the game will turn against me, hate me. Twitter will be awash with tags crying about the injustice of it all. Obsidian will fall into Oblivion and the gaming world will be left to ...hmm maybe I should not complete that sentence. All this because Backers got a thank you gift which I am sure will not have that much of an effect on the game. After all we didn't back the game because we thought it would be a cake walk but because it promised to be difficult, challenging and intriguing. .
  19. I agree with Sock, those beetles are nasty and the size makes them look the part. They come in different sizes too depending on the specie.
  20. Back when I was studying computers I was told that if we as repair people or even employees of a company found an illegal copy of software on the machines we could report them and possibly received up to $200,000. It was illegal then and it is illegal now. I also did quite a bit of research on copyright laws particularly in regard to games and checked with lawyers who are familiar with copyright and games. Intellectual property is copyright and the makers/publishers of games own all rights to those games as stated in the EULA. The music industry has the same problem. I was interested to find out that if I copied the words from America the Beautiful and published them under the name "The Country I love" that would be illegal but if I wrote an original song and called it "America the Beautiful" that would be legal. It is these cases the intellectual property that is important. Copyright laws are complicated. If you steal someone's property whether physical, digital or intellectual it is stealing even if you do not intend to make financial profit from it. As for the excuse that "I can't afford to buy both the game and food I would like to point out that in order to play that game you need a computer and that entails a\n expense. If you have internet access that entails an expense. Oh, I know someone will probably argue that maybe they use a friend's or relative's computer. We can continue the arguing into infinity.
  21. ^I agree. I think taking out acrobatics was a mistake. I heard they took it out because players didn't like or found it useless. ??? These are fantasy games so why shouldn't they look fantastical? I think there may be too much stress on "realism". The games aren't realistic and what they should do is make you feel that what is done is realistic to the game. After all how many people do you know in real life who can cast a magical fireball? Magic isn't realistic but we not only accept it in these games but expect it.
  22. I would like to see him as either a really boss antagonist or as a Master of Technology who sends you on a quest to find some exotic part and rewards you by increasing your mechanic skill. Character to be voice by...Sansuki.
  23. I am glad they didn't buy a license to do D*D. I didn't care for the spell system at all and I understand the new editions 4.x has changed a lot of things. Totally destroyed my beloved Halflings. Just playing the BB the game has the feel to me of those old game, good dialogue, interesting little quests and taska that can be done in different ways. I like the new cipher class, very interesting. To me it has a fresh, new feel yet has the spirit I loved. BG games weren't the only games made back then. Not all were D*&D games. Arcanum was great and Planescape/Torment IMO still hasn't been equaled in innovation.
  24. Sensuki makes sense to me. I also realize that different people like different things and someone may have requested this. The devs cannot please everyone 100% of the time. I expect there to be some things in the came that I will not particularly like and may even dislike
  25. Don't even remember the journal in Oblivion but I did not care for the one in Skyrim. I came late to Morrowind and got the three disk set so I had the updated journal and I liked it. You could access all kinds of information much more like the one OE is making for PoE.
