  1. I think OE is very aware of their need to fix bugs and that they will concentrate on that. I also think that folk may be mistaking the BB for a demo rather than as a test. If they weren't concerned about bugs and balance they could have released the game already.
  2. I also agree with Shevek. Also a lot of the bugs reported are cosmetic and may not even be noticed by casual plalyers. It is the job of the BB players to be fussy and bring things to the devs attention.
  3. In roughly sixteen years of playing CRPGs I don't think I have every had one 100% bug free. I always expect at least one official patch. I do hope they fix the major bugs. Edit: On another forum there was a poll for member only that asked on difficulty level you play, Normal, easy, or hard. Over 1000 people replied. About 68% play on Normal, about 100 people play on easy and about 224 said they played on difficult. Based on this I think the majority of players will not notice the mechanics at least at first. Unless the mechanics are really bad.
  4. Guess the ogre got tired of a diet of pigs.
  5. I have a friend who is a hardcore fan of fallout 1 and 2. When i had to choose between either Fallout 3 or Fallout NV (couldn't afford both) he said to buy Fallout NV because it was more in the spirit of the first two. So who will Fallout 4 by Bethesda be a spiritual successor to Fallout 1 and 2 or a spiritual successor Fallout 3?
  6. Poor sod, still don't see what's going on here... there there, I wont make fun of your lack of making sense. Or understanding me apparently. Probably related. Glad to hear that... even if those devs may still be responsable for Dragon Age 2. Also explains why TOR threats it's core material like crap. KOTOR is 10 years! Yeah, give us money, we don't care about it... psssh. Most I hear from Fallout 4 is that it will be Bethesda again; so expect to downgrade your expectations... And to have a lot of patches. However there is hope once the User modders get a chance at the game. Just don't expect much in the story line.
  7. Personally I am convinced that the loss of the ten foot pole for disarming traps was the death of D&D games. The turning of Halflings into Kinder type really turns me off. Plus now the dryads and oreads will have to wear clothes due to political correctness. Fantasy is fighting the swarm of isms of the modern world. That's what I think. Step out of the box and you land in a pile of muck.
  8. Yep, opinions do differ don't they. FNV is one of my favorites.
  9. I gave my copy of WL 2 away. Even had a little trouble doing that. People are getting picky at least my friends are.
  10. I don't know how "forgiving" modern game players are. To be redundant again the average age of game players is now in the thirties which means that many have been playing games since the nineties. Sensuki beat me to it
  11. Some of my thoughts on a beta that the public in general can read. I think OE was very brave to make this so public. Feedback from a beta tends to be negative because the testers are looking for bugs, for things that do not work the way they should. Most betas are done in secrecy with the testers sworn to not post publicly about what they have played in order to avoid spoilers. Even though the BB contain no actual spoilers the postings of the testers may be confusing to the casual game player. The BB has been called a demo which it is not.
  12. Are you really accusing Obsidian of deliberately pissing off their backers and customer base?we will see after release. Why? If they're doing as you say, that's already the case. Why would it only become apparent after release? The Backer Beta is not the game itself. The purpose is to test the mechanics of the game and how people who are able and willing to play the BB feel about the progress and feel of the game. Each update has changes and the BB players test out those changes. Based on my play of the BB I am optimistic about the over all game. There are things that need to be fixed. Suggestions made by people are only suggestions. It is up to the developers to decide what fits into what they are doing. They have to make the decision based on time, budget, resources etc. Priority in my opinion is bug fixing and balancing. Until I am able to play the actual game I will not know if OE succeeded in making a Spiritual successor to the IE games, Arcanum, Fallout New Vegas. I will be looking at the overall game, story, dialogue, choices and consequences and bugs.
  13. ME! I want them to please me!
  14. I have recently listened to the video made for the start of the Kickstarter and also a few others as the KS progressed and right after it ended. OE is delivering on what they promised. They have also responded to the backers. They responded during the KS and they have responded since them. Anyone actually reading the threads in the BB forum will find that a true statement. There are millions of game players and each one has his or her own idea of the perfect game. There are also millions of games. I have played arcade games and enjoyed them, short mystery games and enjoyed them. city builders, adventure games,. Developers even for a niche game like PoE have a broad audience to please and you know what happens if you try to please everyone? Are you familiar with the 5th century fable of the farmer, his on and their mule (sometimes portrayed as a donkey)? If you try to please everyone
  15. I agree with PJ, who is to decide what are the best suggestions? Aha, maybe I should, I'sm smart, well education, have a lot of varied life experience, have played a variety of games. It is simply impossible to make everyone completely happy. The devs have to prioritize things. Bugs need to be fixed. I doubt at this point any major changes are going to be made.
  16. They were due back at work on Jan. 5th. That doesn't mean they will have any for us right away. I am hoping they will start replying at least to bug reports next wee but that is just a hope.
  17. I know a lot of people love combat and focus on it but I like that PoE gives you the option to avoid combat without penalizing you. Equal Opportunity yes?
  18. Interesting, I play on normal and didn't check her stats but although I had a tough time killing her she finally died. Definitely something to be checked.
  19. Different view points and different play styles which is what makes forums like this interesting. Hmm let me put it this way. The only god I follow is Sheogorath, the mad god, the god of chaos. The god of poets and creative folk. my motto - Live long and survive, fight dirty if you need to - I am small, weigh about 130 pounds and am a woman and my mother taught me a few nasty tricks. Dost thou get the picture?
  20. Balderdash, I had a lot of fun with it and why is it cheesy? I would do it in real life so why not in fantasy. I am after all a rogue not a paladin. edit: Josh can try but if my party isn't in engament yet I will still give it a try. For me it is fun.
  21. My secret weapon in many circumstances my halfling rogue. She could sneak in where others couldn't go, lure minions out to be slaughtered often one by one. I will leave the others to explain how to take out the big bosses.
  22. Which one I or II?
  23. Hokay, I think it unfair to judge what others can or cannot do or afford. Shall we shut people up because for what ever reason they did not pledge to get chance to play the Backer beta/ I was fortunate to have some extra cash to make the pledge I did and it certainly wasn't to be able to play the Backer beta it was because I wanted the stronghold. Please let's not get personal. No one should have to justify why they did or did not do something. I am off now for a blood test and to do some other personal errands I hope we can all be friendly and recognize that we all want this game as soon as possible in a good playable condition.
  24. That says something about the game, moreso than the class design itself. Ever watched a BG2 Solo Sorcerer run or something ? No, I loved the possible party members so much I never tried solos, Favorites - Edwin, Korgan, Viconia and with ToB Sarevok although I usually included the turnip gnome Jan. As for design the less said about Oblivion here the better. Sorry I brought it up.
  25. More like, you can play Baldur's Gate 2. I disagree my Breton mage born under the lady's star was so powerful at level 12 which is not a high level in Oblivion that I had go in and use the console to bring down her stats and that was playing at highest difficulty. Oh bosh messed up the quote again.
