Dammit I wanted to say something mean about somebody being top of his class but you're actually being reasonable about it. Points for good sportsmanship.

Also apparent inability to spell "foolproof" correctly, which doesn't make me think of the writer as an incredibly competent person I should be listening to. No, if he spelled it "foolproof", it would only be proofed from you. source Obviously the same is true for its hyphenated form. "Full proof" (note the space) exists, but it's not an adjective.

Chelsea Manning Sentence Commuted
aluminiumtrioxid replied to PK htiw klaw eriF's topic in Way Off-Topic
Why are you annoyed? Does (s)he get tax breaks that you don't for having a court recognize him as a woman or something? Only affects him*, really, which is why your King of England analogy doesn't hold water. That being said, if you can get the British Parliament to recognize you as the King of England, I'll be happy to address you as befitting your station. Let's imagine for a second that tomorrow gene therapy allows these people to have their chromosomal endowment rearranged. Would you still be uncomfortable referring to him a she? *to be fair, it affects everyone, because the whole pronoun thing is a total cluster**** You know, I really don't know why it bothers me. It always irritates me when someone refers to their car engine as a motor too. An engine and a motor are two different things. I guess I'm just kind of anal retentive like that. I demand people call a thing what it is. But if they could magically replace Manning's Y chromosome with another X, well that would make him a her. Heck they don't even need to go that far. Once the surgeries are finished that's close enough. But until then he is a dude in a dress taking pills. ...And here I thought the entire point of your stupid language having two different words for the concept of physical sex (ie. sex) and the concept of gender identity (ie. gender) was so you can make that distinction (Hungarian doesn't have gendered pronouns nor does it differentiate between engines and motors, so it's clearly a superior language.) -
How Liberals Treat Blacks Who disagree With Their Agenda

No. I've moved on from Ye Olde Political forum on the BIS boards. I wouldn't be surprised if Obsidian didn't want to go back to that again. Folks here are super nice compared to those days. Which is ironic since some of the same people are here now. Growing up is helluva drug. -
You know I really figured that the reverse would be true. The desire to better yourself is usually rooted in some dissatisfaction with where you are in life. The drive to increase your knowledge and skill levels (beyond doing that for it's own sake) usually leads to better jobs, higher pay and all that good stuff. You'd think someone of lower social class would be more motivated to make use of the educational opportunities the internet provides. The problem is that scraping together enough money to handle the necessities of basic survival is generally a full-time occupation for those of lower social class, leaving little time and energy for self-education.

That only mean that they don't have the privilage of running in the streets with their genitals displayed. Russian approach is reasonable and the West is not. Apparently flags count as genitals now. Guess you learn something new every day.

More freedom than in Russia? That's not exactly a high bar to clear. Have you been to Russia? I've been there and in the US, so I can compare. LOL. "I, the investment banker, have visited Russia and now I'm an expert about the life and the amount of freedom enjoyed by the average citizen who doesn't have enough money to throw at problems until they disappear!"

After all, everyone knows nobody has ever created anything of cultural and artistic value since the fall of Rome, especially not any people descended from those filthy barbarians.

And you don't think that the mindset where "everyone is fundamentally the same, ie. deep down exactly like me, and anybody who differs from me must do so because they're defective in their divergence from the One True Human Being" is borderline sociopathic in its solipsism at the very least shows a strong and rather unsavory authoritarian streak? That particular knife cuts both ways; since open homosexuality is - much like any form of easily discerned divergence from the default - censured by society, how do you know that the very same people who'd be "straight" in such a scenario wouldn't display heterosexual behavior only for fear of negative consequences?
-
For someone so enamored with the values of antiquity, you certainly seem to be rather fond of displaying hubris, don't you? "Anybody pointing out how absurdly, ridiculously, completely wrong I am has to do so because they're thin-skinned and panicking! It can't possibly have anything to do with the quality of my ideas!" Yeah, keep telling yourself that, bro.

I'm afraid your projecting yourself onto others. You're rationalizing how people like you (hetero-sexual) could desire to engage in 'different' kinds of sexual patterns without external material motivations. For some one who is implied (by others) to be a fascist from time-to-time you have an awfully egalitarian<-(not the correct use of the term, but best I could come up with) mindset regarding other people. How on earth does implying that homo- and transsexual people are mentally underdeveloped and burdened by various complexes betray an "egalitarian" mindset...?

Man, I have to use this video a lot in response to you, don't I?

I've never heard of trans women who were exclusively attracted to other women but identified as heterosexuals.

"I will do whatever I can to motivate my followers to vote against Trump because Trump is the worst" is, technically, a principle.

It's not. The forum has one rule against harassment ("personal attacks that are intended to cause unwanted attention, embarrassment, or harm will not be tolerated") which has the clarity of a mud sandwich and is practically unenforceable anyway (how do you tell what a post was intended to do?). Nothing about bullying here The... cool cheerleaders bully the nerd with... D&D metaphors? I think you may have your labels switched there. -

c'mon KP, we all know it requires a special brand of idiot to stoop so low as to consistently refer to people they don't like by childish nicknames -

So - to borrow D&D terminology - a level-appropriate encounter, basically.
