You've left me an opening
stoffe -mkb- replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That depends a bit on what kind of weapon you are using. If you use standard lightsabers with a Keen-upgrade, and then use Master Critical Strike with those, you'd get a 11-20 critical threat range... that is nearly 50% chance that each hit is a critical hit , provided that you manage to hit the enemy. If you use the lightsaber stance that gives you a +1 to the critical hit multiplier, that's a near 50% chance of doing X3 damage with every hit. And if you dual-wield, use master speed and the lightsaber form that gives +1 attack/round (Juyo?), then flurry appears to be worthless anyway since you can do at most 5 attacks/round unless I remember incorrectly. (Though that only works for the Exile, since the others can't get that lightsaber form.) -
You've left me an opening
stoffe -mkb- replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm not good at statistics so the math is probably way off, but critical hits shouldn't be all that rare so I think it is normal that the bark plays a lot. For example, if he dual-wields two weapons with a 19-20 critical threat range, that would give a 10% chance of a critical hit per attack, with 2 attacks/round from dual-wield, +1 attack/round from flurry/rapid shot, +2 attacks/round from Master Speed... So, 5 times every 6 seconds he would have a 10% chance of playing that bark... A 50% chance that one of the attacks in that round is a critical hit? -
I wouldn't buy the whole game again as such, but if they were to release new or "new" planets as an expansion pack I would certainly buy that.

You've left me an opening
stoffe -mkb- replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes, that bark is played when he scores a critical hit. The other party members have their own variants to signal critical hits: Atton - More where that came from! BaoDur - How do you like that? Disciple - You've left me an opening! G0T0 - Weakness found. HK47 - Optimal accuracy ratio achieved. Kreia - Fall! Mira - That's another one for me! Visas - A weakness is revealed. Handmaiden - This will teach you! Mandalore - Ha! More where that came from! -
If the patch doesn't kill the censored bug, you can still avoid it if you are a lightsider by not triggering the scene where the criminals flee from the Czerka offices until you've brought the droid intelligence from the hangar to the Ithorians.

Endless Sith Assassins on Dxun
stoffe -mkb- replied to tk102's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes, that happened to me on my first playthrough as well. Ignore what Kreia says about "must eliminate them all". When you've had enough of the battle, go to the Command Center where you first met with Mandalore when you were "escorted" to their camp. There's a trigger outside the door that will start a cutscene taking you to Onderon. I think I fought for hours and leveled up about 8 times before I accidentally stumbled into that trigger on my first playthrough. -
Help with Handmaiden as Jedi
stoffe -mkb- replied to Gothmog's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
How far along in the game are you? If you try to train the Handmaiden as a Jedi after you've found 4 of the Jedi Masters you will run into this problem. If so, the only thing you can do is to reload an earlier save and train her before having found 4 Masters, or simply avoid training her. -
53 questions for Obsidian...

Then please enlighten me how it should be done, Master. I used the QUOTE button above the text input box. Don't know why they don't display properly. -
53 questions for Obsidian...
stoffe -mkb- replied to phiont's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I guess the droids were killed creatures carrying loot like any creature being killed, while the containers are placeables. They probably ran out of development time. Bao-Dur has a separate set of models for all armors/clothes to accomodate his cybernetic arm, and I guess they didn't have the time to create the models for all kinds or armor and robes. It's the only non-prestige class which can pick that feat, and they probably forgot to update the description to include the prestige classes. Probably for the same readon you don't get any XP when enemies kill your party members. It's not you doing the killing, it's the other team. While they often give similar results it's not always the case. And I guess they are both there in case you don't have high enough Awareness and Wisdom to get both. If you were in their line of sight when you entered stealth mode they'll often know you are there. The same if you've done some action to them that doesn't break stealth mode (Force Confusion for example) which then wears off, then they often know where you are even if stealthed. Or if they rolled a 20 on their awareness check they will spot you no matter how much Stealth you have. Probably for the same reason the AI occasionally queues up Power Blast when the character is wielding a melee weapon, causing them to just stand rooted to the spot doing nothing until their action queue is cleared... And the same reason a force user will spam Improved Energy Resistance Ad Infinitum if they are already affected by Master Energy Resistance from another party member. Buggy AI. Since T3's gone for so long without memory wipes he's developed an organic personality. To perhaps the mining droids mistook him for an organic. Or perhaps the droids were programmed to mine organics and rogue astromech droids, without the player being informed of it. Probably for flavour. Slightly defect equipment for use, etc. Gives some variety to the low-level loot. The bigger question is: Why didn't the exile just climb up onto the rail and up onto the steel beams above the force fields? The force fields didn't extend all the way up to the ceiling, and should be easy to climb over. He probably wasn't too keen on letting the Republic know organized Mandalorians were present. Since the Mandalorians nearly tore up the Republic only 10 years earlier one can imagine that relations between the two are somewhat frosty. Flavor, giving the player the illusion of having a choice how to express themselves, even if the end result is the same. Artistic freedom on behalf of the sound crew? A lot of those descriptive labels aren't followed too closely. The game gets less detailed and offers less choices and flavor the further you go. Apparently they ran out of time and had to cut some corners. Though I fully agree it gives a rather sloppy impression when your main cast arent' acting/rearcting according to the main storyline. Vogga wasn't shipping fuel to Telos originally. G0T0 was hijacking freighters to keep the Hutts busy, giving the Republic time to recover, as he tells it if you talk to him. It appears that no-one but the Exile can, and that's part of the reason why Bao-Dur is so loyal to her. He was probably so eager to get to the Cantina that he forgot to give them to you. Or he did give them to you, but the ones he gave you were already part of the party inventory. (Where else would he have gotten them from? ) To prevent you from slipping past the Mira trigger near the entrance to the docks when you go see Visquis, I suppose. Though they could have placed another right by the speeder I guess it's some kind of alien dialect. It's not just Hanharr who says it, the Trandoshan bounty hunter at the docking area says Jeedai too. G0T0 probably intended to use the Exile as a "rallying figurehead" to stabilize the Republic once things had settled down a bit. Like what he had wanted Revan to do before she left. Because the scripts that fires when you click on things that results in Dialog always starts the dialog with the party leader regardless of who interacts with the object initially. So it's probably by design that "the leader does the talking". Perhaps the Cloaking Device that concealed his ship didn't extend to any vessels attached to it? It's the signal G0T0 uses to control all droids on Nar Shaddaa. The small devices you find on the swoop droid and the pazaak droid are parts of this system that G0T0 uses to control them. You can talk to G0T0 later when he's joined you and use that as an argument when you try to make him confess that he's actually a droid. That was a bit abrupt, yes. I also wonder why the Exile didn't try to break out herself when the vessel was boarded, concidering that she still had had lightsabers, all equipped items and force powers at her disposal. She could easily have overpowered those two floating interrogator blobs that were guarding her. Vrook never comes across as all that clever. And he was probably just looking for an excuse to berate you, and that one was as good as any. That conversation is a bit buggy overall. If you pick the wrong conversation path it will terminate abruptly and all three masters will drop dead to the ground in their "worse than death" state. Talked them to death You can if you select it in the Inventory screen rather than the Equip screen. As I understand it the MSG altered the gravity fields of the planet, causing both the planet itself and all nearby ships to be crushed to pieces. Running it again might reverse the gravity field back to how it was, letting the shattered planet drift apart. Why did the movie "Revan's Death" have such a name in KOTOR1 when Revan didn't die in it? The load screens says the planet (or what remains of it) is constantly shifting with violent earthquakes and such. The chasm probably widened, which caused the hawk to fall down to begin with. And if that chasm lead down to one of the main cracks in the planet, the Ebon Hawk probably fell straight through the whole planet. That's likely an oversight on the developer's part. They haven't attached any script to that conversation that modified skills. Only one that grants more force points. There is a dialog option, but due to a bug in Vogga's dialog where a variable is set one too high it never becomes available. Yes, that feels quite sloppy. Revan is actually referred to as male more than 50% of the time in the game even if you set her as being female. Even a female Exile is referred to as He/Him on numerous occasions, even by your own party members. The Ithorians were the worst at the fasttalk, they sped through their dialog at such a rate I had only read about half of it before it shifted to the next conversation screen. Had to read what Chodo Habat said on the Dialog log screen after the conversation. It's a source for infinite lightside points if you feel like exploiting it. You can side with Kreia if you immediately run away when the fight starts and let your party members kill Kreia on their own. Sometimes they succeed to take her out before she kills them all, and when she falls all of the illusions disappear. -
An odd little Inconsistancy
stoffe -mkb- replied to kitty_with_a_lightsaber's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One of the more annoying inconsistancies IMHO is the JekJekTarr bar on Nar Shadaa... When entering it to find the captain for the Lunar Shadow crewmen, I could just walk right in there with no ill effects "wearing" a poison immunity implant. The bartender reflected on the fact I was human and wasn't wearing an environment suit so I assume you are supposed to be able to do this. But when returning later to meet with Visquis, entering the bar ("wearing" the same poison immunity implant) you suddenly choke and fall to the floor as soon as you enter even though I could stoll around in there as long as I wanted just half an hour earlier. -
The "Dark Energy" things trigger a conversation when you click on them. The script that fires when you click starts the conversation with the party leader, no matter what character does the clicking. As such it's always the one you picked to lead the group that interacts with the energy things. Perhaps the devs thought Mira would be a poor choice to lead that group since she has such low Charisma. Since the party leader's charisma is added as an Attack bonus to all party members it's better to pick one with decent Charisma for the role.

Ignore the sabers and go for Traya. When she's down the sabers will go away. She's the one who wields them through the force after all. If you can't stay alive long enough to take her down, do hit and run attacks onto the bridges leading out to the Trayus Core. If you can get just one of the sabers to follow you it'll be a bit easier to dispose of it. Poor pathfinding AI is your friend. And if you can't take them on one at a time either, lure them all away as far from Traya as you can, then lob an adhesive grenade at them, gluing them to the spot. Then quickly run away from them back to the core. They will likely not follow you if they can no longer see you when the adhesive blast wears off, letting you take care of Traya in peace. The default AI breaks out of combat if the nearest enemy is more than 30 meters away.

There's no way to save her. If you have Visas in your party when you find Vash's body, Visas remarks that she sensed her death in the Force shortly after you arrived on Korriban. Darth Sion used her as a bait to bring you there, and once you arrived the Sith had no more use for her alive.

Still wearing the Mining Uniform?
stoffe -mkb- replied to TetsuJedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Had to use the uniform until I got to the Bridge of the Harbinger. Fortunately I found a nice jedi robe in the plasteel cylinder next to the door there. Good thing Republic ships come stocked with these emergency supplies in case they need to pick up a half-naked jedi somewhere. -
"TSF: Escaped Criminals" sidequest bug
stoffe -mkb- replied to TetsuJedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As far as I can see, the problem is that the variable that keeps track of if the criminals should spawn in Telos is reset when you talk to either Habat or Lorso when bringing the Ithorian droid intelligence to either of them. Technical: When you encounter the criminals in Lorso's office and the cutscene with them fleeing plays, the variable "202TEL_Spawn_Killers" is set to "11". This is the value required for the criminals to spawn. However, at above mentioned conversations, the variable is set to "3" for some reason, thus preventing them to spawn planetside. So (as a lightsider) to ensure that they spawn, get the quest from Grenn. Then enter the Czerka compound to ensure the criminals spawn there, but don't go into Lorso's office yet (to avoid triggering the fleeing scene). Now finish the droid quest for the Ithorians, and then return to the Czerka compound and get the scene where the criminals flee. Now they should spawn in the restoration zone later. -
I know of siamese twins, but a human and a twilek? Screenshot Seems like Bao-Dur and the Remote aren't the only ones who likes to become as one...

I can't quite remember where I read it so it's possible I'm wrong, but I had the impression that Atris was assigned to take over Kreia's post as "Mistress of the Jedi Archives". As such she got Kreia's spot on the Council as well, when Kreia was cast out and exiled for leading Revan astray. Atris had to be fairly new on the job at the time the Exile was exiled, as I assume Kreia was thrown out of the Order when Revan decided to defy the Council and join the Republic in the war against the Mandalorians a few years earlier. I think Atris is fine as she is. A Jedi torn apart by an emotional conflict, where her heart says one thing and the jedi teachings she's been fed since she was a child says another. And since the jedi order teach their members to supress emotion rather than learn to control them, she is unable to come to grips with her emotions when they become too strong to supress. Torn between her desire to do what seems to be right and follow the one she looks up to and loves (as a role model or potentially romantic depending on gender) to aid the Republic, and her loyalty to the Order and responsibilities on the council, she tries desperately to convince herself that she did the right thing by attempting to demonize the Exile. Though she never believes the image she paints of her/him herself. And then, when most of the order is whiped out at Katarr she is saddled with a responsibility she isn't prepared or suited for, to ensure the survival of the Jedi Order and their teachings, adding further to emotional strain. In her weakened mental state it must have been pretty easy for the Sith Holocrons to twist her thoughts. If what I vaguely remember is correct, that it was Atris that lead Nihilus to Katarr in order to try to draw him out, but gravely underestimated him, then add a tremendous guilt for that act, and it's a wonder she's not a complete nerve wreck. I'm not sad they left out the Evil Queen outfit for her, I don't think it would have fit her character as she's currently presented in the game. That "Darth Traya" model doesn't look much like Atris at all. Not all characters in a game has to be likable, and Atris is portrayed as a rather human, if sad, character. I was far more annoyed by her brainwashed Combat Drones. It's a shame you never got a chance to kick their behinds other than in the sparring matches.

Mira's purpose on Nar Shaddaa?
stoffe -mkb- replied to DarthRevanRLZ's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are a few problems with that theory, IMHO: 1) ZKE didn't go to Nar Shadaa until after the Jedi Civil War had ended, in order to hide from Nihilus and Sion. He officially went there as part of Kavar's plan to lure out the unseen enemy by making them think there were no more Jedi. Though due to his own growing doubts with the Jedi, his real, personal reason for coming there was simply to hide and be forgotten. 2) Mira was one of the survivors of Malachor V. ZKE wasn't anywhere near Malachor V, he was sitting in the cozy Council Chamber of Coruscant debating on if the Order should help the Republic against the Mandalorians. And after the Mandalorian War had ended the Council had their hands full with Darth Revan's return, they'd have little time to spare going around doing warm fuzzy jedi things like helping orphans. 3) Mira says she followed the refugee streams after the war, like no doubt many other surviving Mandalorians did. For some reason many refugees end up on Nar Shadaa (one would think they'd steer clear of such an infamous place...) and thus she ended up on Nar Shadaa. In order to survive there she put what she learned from the Mandalorians to use, and became a bounty hunter. Her latent force abilities aided her greatly, though she didn't know that her "Sixth Sense" for finding people was the Force. She felt sympathy for the refugees and the lost since she'd been a refugee herself, and since she'd lost her parents. So a fair deal of her bounty hunting was of the non-violent sort, helping to hunt down and reunite people separated by the war. -
LS/DS Point Rubbing on Party
stoffe -mkb- replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Since it depends on your influence with them, if you don't talk to Visas after you've gotten her in the party she'll be slightly towards the dark but still in the gray area of the influence scale if you were nice to her after the battle. If you drag her entire life story out of her before you'll leave the Hawk you'll get up to around 90 influence with her, thus she will reflect your alignment. Same with Mira... She does start out gray as long as you don't influence her. Take her on the rescue party on Goto's yacht and she'll be just slightly above the center of the scale before you find the Exile.. That said, with party members you can influence heavily just by talking to them the transformation is rather sudden, I agree with that. And once you get the Lightside Enlightment their own alignment gets pretty much irrelevant, they will mirror yours instantly. I don't really see the point of that feat... -
The alignment scale goes from 0 - 100 where 100 is LSMastery and 0 is DSMastery. The Visas movie shows up when... ...you are 75 or higher on the alignment scale ...or when you are 25 or lower on the alignment scale ...or when you have received a total of 50+ alignment point shifts no matter what direction ...or when you have found 3 of the Jedi Masters After that she will show up on the Ebon Hawk the next time you enter the ship, as long as you've been to and left the Telos Academy for any of the 4 main planets. As such she will show up after you have found 3 of the Jedi Masters even if you play strictly neutral and avoid all alignment shifts whenever possible.

I don't think there are any real "romances" in the game. The closest you get for a male Exile is the Handmaiden, who seems to have that kind of feelings for the Exile according to what Visas and Kreia says, though she never admits it herself. I have difficulty seeing the relationship with Visas as "romantic" in any way. I think it's on another level. When she says "love" I don't interpret that as love of the romantic kind, but rather the kinship kind of love. She feels attached to you since you're a natural leader, the only one who can defeat her Master and put the ghosts of the past to rest (the destruction of her homeworld, which drove her down the dark side in the first place), and she feels you can understand her since you've suffered a similar sort of loss. That creates feelings of kinship. Mira doesn't have a romantic interest in the Male Exile. Sure he's supposed to be handsome and look 10 years younger than he really is. She thinks the Exile is too old, though I wonder how old she is herself since she fought in the Mandalorian Wars 10 years ago. The Mandalorians probably have no objections to using child labor or child soldiers though if the situation demands it. As for the female Exile, the Disciple is not romantically interested in you. He worships you like an idol/hero. An image of you he first got when you briefly trained him in the force as a kid before the Mandalorian Wars started, and you apparently impressed him so immensely that he wanted you and no one else as a master. Atton...well. There seems to be an interest at some level since he asks Bao-Dur about his chances with you. But it's nothing that hinted at much in any other place in the game. Since much of his "protective" conversation interjections is identical for both Male and Female Exiles, I believe he sees you more like his shot at redemption for what he's done in the past. This is from a lightsider perspective though, since I've never played as a darksider in TSL. Though I doubt that darksiders get that much more loving and romance.
-
Mira is not a melee fighter, even when turned into a jedi, IMHO. Give her two fully upgraded blasters and don't turn her into a jedi until level 21, and she'll do more damage than most of my saber-wielding party members. She usually kills most enemies before my melee fighters even have time to reach them. She also has enough skills to handle pretty much anything when my Exile isn't there to take care of it (Dxun tomb). As long as there are melee fighters keeping the enemies away from her I find her far more useful than Bao-Dur. And if there aren't any melee fighters to help her out, adhesive grenades from her grenade launcher usually does the trick instead. A bit surprising she's so useful, seeing as she has much worse starting attributes (str + dex + con etc) than anyone else. Mira has a total of 73 compared for example Hanharr who has 83. Perhaps it's not all in the numbers...

So I've completed K2, some unresolved questions
stoffe -mkb- replied to junkie's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ah, that would explain why I've never seen anything about it. I don't like playing as a schoolyard bully (which the darkside all too often amounts to in these games), and as a lightsider you are given no hint in that conversation or elsewhere in the game, other than the Ebon Hawk T3 vs. HK-47 showdown to indicate who has voicelocked the navicomputer. Still, it's possible that Kreia lied in order to have you bring her along. After all, the navicomputer remains locked throughout the game, having T3 handle astrogation and navigation. -
The cruelty of the Republic
stoffe -mkb- replied to Nicarra's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The difference between a Force Cage and a Torture Cage appears to be a difference in which software module you choose to activate... Bombing planets into radioactive balls and cleansing entire races from existence (which the game indicates that the Republic has indulged in) doesn't exactly strike me as a good thing to do either. Listening to HK-47s tales in the first game doesn't paint the Republic Senate in the light of a good government with corruption, political assassinations and lots of foul play going on behind the scenes. The Jedi may be the good guys, but they don't run the Republic. I tend to think of the Republic more as the lesser of evils.
